Punta Cana Recap

Last week Jared and I took the vacation we've been talking about taking for years. No exaggeration… YEARS! We've wanted to go somewhere fun, tropical and relaxing with our BIL and SIL and it finally worked out. The timing, the great deal, the hotel… it all fell into place way too easily. Our foursome has done some pretty great roadtrips in the past, but this was our first big vacation together and it was almost indescribable. A week of fun in the sun with of our favorite people?! It doesn't get much better.
When you go to an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana, most of your pictures are going to look the same. Beach. Ocean. Pool. Food. Ocean. Beach. Food. Pool. Palm Trees. Repeat that for about six days and you'll have our trip. It was so incredibly relaxing and so rejuvenating! I'll let the pictures do most of the talking.

As amazing as the beach is during the day, with the crazy-hot sun beating down on us, it was nice to head out to the beach for a post-dinner stroll as well. Any crowds that were there earlier were almost always gone and we truly felt like we owned that beach! Some people don't like that "sand everywhere" feeling but me? I cannot get enough of the sand in my toes, the beachy, windblown hair…. sigh. I belong at the beach, you guys. I really do.

The Dominican Republic will seriously ALWAYS hold a really special place in my heart after this trip. Obviously we were having an incredible time together and making lifelong memories, for sure. But just being in a new country and experiencing more of the world with Jared is a feeling that won't ever get old. We had such a great time talking to the locals and getting just a tiny glimpse into the culture of this beautiful place. This trip has really peaked my interest in learning more about this country and it's people. And it definitely made me want to brush up on the little Spanish I do know and work on improving it!

It really is true what they say: Travel is the only thing you will buy that makes you richer.

Why Life is Better At The Beach

When you're at the beach, it means you aren't at work... I don't think that needs any extra explanation.

Vitamin D is good for the soul. It boosts your mood and decreases stress. Just don't forget the sunscreen!

Did you know that taking a dip in the ocean can actually help open your pores and remove toxins from your body? The magnesium in the water can also help calm nerves.

Reading for pleasure has been known to reduce stress by as much as 68%!!! And you all know a good book and the beach just go hand in hand. Always.

The beach is even better when you're with people you love, and when the people you love also love the beach. But then again, who DOESN'T love the beach?? Did you catch all that?

In case you all didn't notice from my lack of email responses... I've been on vacation this week at a very beautiful beach with Jared and our best friends. I'll be on my way home tomorrow, crying salty tears about leaving this gorgeous place! ;) Happy Friday!!!

I'll take S'more vacation, please.

Alas, my Disney recap posts have come to an end! As much as I'd rather be eating that S'mores dessert from the 50's Prime Time Cafe where they make you set the table, keep your elbows down and hats off- I must get back to the real world... sigh. Here are my last few random pictures as we say goodbye ;)

Good gracious I look tired.... this was the last day in the parks. And you know I had to rep my Bengals somehow... it was NFL draft day!

On our last day there I finally got around to snapping some pictures of our fun resort before our flight left. We stayed at Pop Century, one of the cheapest Disney resorts and we were very happy with it!

We honestly couldn't imagine paying more for a hotel room at Disney. For us, we were barely in our room since we spent the entire day at the park. Pop Century had your basic, clean hotel rooms which is really all we ask! The decor was a lot of fun, the food court in our hotel had TONS of options and the transportation to and from parks was overall very easy and quick!

While we didn't utilize them at all, our hotel had two very large pools!

Jared just giving Mr. Potato Head a little high-five before we left ;)

Official. Disney. Nerds.

You know what the good thing about coming home from vacation is? Getting to plan the next one!!! Jared and I seriously have been talking nonstop about when we can do a weekend away somewhere, planning a couples vacation for next Spring, what city we'd like to see the Bengals play in this year (CHICAGO- here we come!) What are your vacation or getaway plans for this year???

Magic Monday

Happy Monday!! I hope you all had as good of a weekend as I did. I love those weekends that are the perfect mix of productiveness and relaxation. Every weekend should be like that!

Before I continue on, two orders of business ;) First off- if you missed my post on Saturday I would be SO grateful if you took a minute to read it and see if you could help in any way. Whether it's signing up for the awesome 5k, donating to the cause or just simply sharing it on your blog, twitter, etc.... every little bit helps!

Secondly- I could not be more proud of my husband right now. He ran his first ever half-marathon this weekend!! There is nothing like seeing your best friend accomplish something incredible... I won't lie, I had tears in my eyes when I saw him approaching the finish line with his brother. I also feel more motivated than ever to focus on running and become a more active part of the running community.... I'm telling you, there is NOTHING like it. I had so much fun cheering on strangers, giving high-5's to runners and just watching couples, families, friends cross that finish line together!

And yes, friends.... I'm now back to talking a little more Disney on this blog. I know you're probably thinking "Goodness, how long can one chick talk about Disneyworld?!" Well the answer is... a couple more days. That's what happens when you do 6 days in the parks and take 800+ photos ;)

Besides- I haven't talked about the Magic Kingdom yet, which is possibly the most magical park of all. Don't get me wrong, we loved every park... but there was just something special about walking down Main Street and seeing that first view of the castle! Plus- we did MK two days in a row, for double the fun!
Jared was EXCITED!!
There she is!!! :)
Some of the morning highlights included the "It's a small world" ride... such a classic!

The brand new Little Mermaid ride in Fantasyland. It's amazing how "fun" Disneyworld can make the queue line. We didn't wait in much of one, but there were tons of things to look at, watch, listen to as you go through the line.

Eating at Gaston's Tavern (also in the brand new Fantasyland) was too fun! We stopped in here both days we visited Magic Kingdom.

This GIANT cinnamon roll was delicious!! It counted as a "snack" on our dining plan so you know Jared and I each had one of these...... What?! We're on vacation!

I swear there is a parade 2-3 times a day in Disneyworld.... and I'm definitely okay with that!

I think Pluto spotted my Pluto shirt I was wearing that day so he came right over to us! ;)

Then..... THEN came one of our favorite moments from the entire trip. Jared and I had dinner reservations for the "Be our Guest" castle, straight out of Beauty and the Beast. The restaurant theming was INCREDIBLE and we got to eat in the West Wing!!

Not only was that an amazing streak, but somehow those were the best fries I've ever had in my life. Seriously- I wish I knew what they did to them!!

Having dessert wheeled right to our table was fun, and yummy but the best part came after I ate that strawberry cupcake...

Since I had my birthday pin on, the waiter brought me out THE GREY STUFF. You know... try the grey stuff, it's delicious... don't believe us? Ask the dishes?! I seriously had a mini freak-out at our table before blowing out the candle and eating that cute lil' dollop. And yes, it's delicious! ;)

And as if things couldn't get any better... just as we're finishing up? We hear dramatic music and in comes the Beast himself!!! We knew it was possible for him to make an appearance during the day, but there's no schedule to it, so we lucked out!

So on our way out we were able to see the main ballroom and MEET the Beast.

And I had to share this screenshot a Disney Photopass member took of us. The Beast was SO cute, he hugged us, bowed and twirled me around... yes, I look ridiculous, but we were having so much fun!!

Disney's Electrical Parade and fireworks ended the night for us:

Like I said, we came back for Day 2 in the Magic Kingdom first thing the next morning. We just couldn't get enough ;)

I loved "Goofini" and his fun pose when we met him! Another example of us being at the right place at the right time... there was no line and we were first to meet him.

Warning, you WILL want to buy one of every food item you see while in DisneyWorld!

We stopped in Gaston's Tavern for the second time... and this time, we HAD to try LeFou's Brew. Best beverage I've ever tasted... hands down. It's apple juice slushie mixed with toasted marshmallow flavors and topped with mango-passionfruit foam on top. OMG.

PS- Lefou's Brew also counts as a snack on your Disney Dining Plan!! So worth it :)

Our dinner that night was at Tony's, the restaurant from Lady and the Tramp!

Seriously?! How cute!!!

Leaving the Magic Kingdom was hard, for real. We spent approximately 28 hours there (yes, we're crazy!) and already can't wait to go back!!
