Send Coffee + Help Me Shop

Little T, who doesn't seem so little anymore, is 14 months old today. I think I'll stop talking in months once he's one and a half. But telling people he's 1 feels like a lie because his first birthday party was approximately a decade ago at this point! ;) T is changing by the day, possibly transitioning from 1 nap to 2 and also getting a mouthful of teeth right now. Someone send help. And coffee.

Between my part-time job, my new book venture and just keeping up with T, life has felt a little extra crazy lately. I don't know how you working mama's or two-job-people do it all! However, now that we're starting to feel like our new house is actually ours, we are making an effort to schedule things with friends again. We hosted our first game night in the new house last weekend- complete with cowboy caviar, and I went out for pizza with some girlfriends Monday night. After being cooped up for six weeks on crutches, I was in some serious need of social interaction. Next up on my social calendar will be hanging with my physical therapy peeps 3 nights a week- wahoo! ;)

In other "mom news" I need to know what your favorite place to shop for shoes kids is... because I can't find anything for T that I like and is also affordable. Maybe I'm just a cheapo but I couldn't believe the prices I was seeing for basic shoes for such a little foot. I was looking at Kohl's over the weekend thinking I'd score a good deal but they hardly had anything! Obviously I would love to get him like seven pairs of these in all colors/styles, but I'm going for practical here. I want a tennis shoe with velcro like this and a nicer, neutral shoe too. Help!

One final random thought for today- I'm partnering with someone for a fundraiser that I'm really excited about and can't wait to share with you all. It's something near and dear to my heart that I've been working on for awhile and I'm excited about it's potential.

  1. I can't believe how big he's getting! So adorable! I used to love shopping at Target for my little one's shoes. You can get some great deals when they're clearanced down.

  2. Famous Footwear has a BOGO deal right now. One for T and one for you. Score! ;)

  5. I agree, kids shoes are so offensive! I get Graham's at Target (on sale is best!), Once Upon A Child, and on Kidizen. After he grew out of his last size in less than 3 months, I refuse to pay full price anymore. I know the little boys will be able to wear them too, so it's not a total waste, but it's the principle!!
Oh! Also Carter's/Oshkosh has a bunch of shoes on clearance right now-- check them out!

  6. Toddler shoes are SO expensive. Blerg. We've had two pairs of these (below) from Target (size 4 and size 5) and they have held up REALLY well with a very active boy who wears them all the time. I don't know if they will continue to stock them since I think StrideRite is going out of business, but maybe you can find them in store!

  7. That's so crazy that he's already 14 months old! And hooray for getting out and about again after being cooped up for so long!

  8. I hear you on toddler shoes. Gracie has grown out of all but one pair of shoes in the past couple months. I've gotten her some Cat & Jack shoes at Target and those are usually reasonably priced. I managed to snag some sandals at OshKosh for $10 a few months ago (and they're already too small. Ugh!) but other than that I don't know, I'm struggling too! People who pay $60 for Freshly Picked moccasins are a little insane in my opinion 😬

  9. Target is my shoe go-to! But it's also my everything go- to so...#momlife. I have a friend who swears by payless! I haven't actually been in one in like years....but, as the name states, it's probably pretty cheap!

  10. I used to work at Payless and they always have great clearance sales going on for kids shoes. Plus, all of their kids shoes are made wider than normal to help accommodate their fat little feet :) good luck with little T he looks adorable!

  11. Kids shoes are the worst :( I have found that hitting up Gap Kids, Old Navy, and Carters during season changes/big sales are the best time to buy some shoes. I'm always able to find some on clearance. I've also been buying shoes in larger sizes than my guy is currently wearing if the price is great. Oh, and Zulily!

  12. This sounds crazy, but Walmart shoes are like $8-10 and awesome! R has 2 pairs and wears them all the time and they hold together well. The Garanimals brand or however you spell it :)

  15. He's getting so big! And I agree, I stopped talking in months when my kids got to 1.5, then it's 1.5 till almost 2 :) Can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve!

  19. 14 months! Goodness!! I finally feel like I have a routine down now for my week days and now we are about ready to rock that all to pieces again in two weeks when Z starts daycare. Ugh I am so not looking forward to that! Awesome that you got out and about with some girlfriends! That is good for the soul!

  20. While I love buying boy clothes, I find their shoes annoyingly hard - there really are so few inexpensive options, compared to the options for little girls. I've had some luck with Old Navy and Target (the Cat & Jack line), especially when you hit it on a good sale. Otherwise I watch out for tiny TOMS on sale - they have good options with velcro and some that look a little dressier. And if you can find a deal (sometimes on Amazon), I find Keens to be totally worth it. They have some sneakers that are really cute, and the reinforced toe really helps you get your money's worth out of them!

  21. My cousin got some super cute shoes for her little boy at Gap!

  22. Shoes can be so tricky!! We've always bought Stride Rite because they are such great quality and hold up to a crawling/walking busy body!

  23. Aiden's first pair of "walking shoes" were from Target and were the Stride Rite brand that velcro. They held up great and I still can't part with them for sentimental reasons. And for when T is into character light up shoes, shop Walmart! For real! So cheap.

  24. I love buying Stride Rite shoes but they're expensive so honestly I buy almost all of my girls' shoes from consignment stores or even online through ThredUp. Baby/toddler shoes are crazy expensive and they grow out of them FAST!
