Super Bowl Rundown

Another Super Bowl has come and gone. Unbelievable, really. Even though I left my job in the NFL world last year it still feels like it's a part of my life. During the game yesterday I kept thinking about how crazy it would feel to have MY Bengals in that game one day. I still believe, I do! I do! :)

Since I'm pretty sure most of us are completely exhausted and wishing that today was a national holiday, I just wanted to break things down in an easy manner today. So here's my Super Bowl recap in a nutshell.

Food: Thank you in-laws for a pre-game pizza bar. We knew we couldn't stay out anywhere and watch the game because of our little one, but we stopped by Jared's parents for an early dinner for about an hour. The build-your-own-pizza bar did not disappoint. After we stuffed ourselves silly we headed home, put little T to bed and planted it on the couch for the game.

Overtime: Can you all believe it took this long for a Super Bowl game to go into overtime?! WHAT. A. GAME!!!!!!!!!! As a girl who lives and breathes football I could not have asked for a crazier, better game.

Atlanta Falcons: I was rooting for y'all, I really was. I like Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu (former Bengal!) and it would have been awesome to see a new team win. Also, I couldn't help but feel bad for the owners of the team that went down on the field at the start of the 3rd quarter... only to be so SO disappointed in the game's outcome. I feel your pain, guys.

New England Patriots: What an incredible comeback. I can't even hate on this team. You guys came back and BROUGHT IT the second half. Tom Brady, I think you should retire now. You've got a ring for every finger/thumb on one hand and you and Giselle are worth close to $600 million. What else do ya need?! ;)

Lady Gaga: Enjoyed her halftime show! She sang some of her best songs, was entertaining and I LOVED the drones in the sky- seriously cool. I was honestly glad that there was no real political statements and no "surprise" guests in her show. She just got out there and rocked out and did her thing- I liked it!

Commercials: I think the hyper over Super Bowl commercials might be gone! Maybe it's because half of them are viewed online before the game even starts? I did enjoy the Bai commercial simply because I got to squeal like a 7th grader and sing #baibaibai for a few seconds. And I liked the Super Bowl babies commercial too, since Jared and I were rapid-fire naming off who they were dressed like.

Snapchat: You guys rocked with the filters. And they looked way cuter on my kid than on me ;)

Hope everyone is surviving the post-superbowl Monday at work!! Let's do this!!

  1. I pretty much missed the whole superbowl! I think you're right about the commercials not being so great anymore because they can be seen online.

  3. I'm intrigued by this pizza bar idea! I wanted to try it for a get together awhile ago and couldn't figure the logistics of getting all the individual pizzas in the oven so I just made big ones myself instead. Looks fun though! And those Snapchat filters are so adorable!!

  4. Now I want to do a pizza bar, too! Such a good (and yummy) idea! Love those filters on, T! Too cute!

  5. That game was crazy exciting!!! I love the pizza bar idea! The commercials just aren't that great anymore. I think a lot of it is because of them releasing them early online, that takes the fun out of it!

  6. You can not and I repeat CAN NOT give Tom any chance of a comeback. He is a beast and proved it. Poor Atlanta. They had this one but you don't win the game in the 3rd quarter. A whole lot can happen in 15 minutes.

  7. Gaga is one of my favorite half times this far!

And yes disappointed in the commercials..

  8. Man such a good game! Random question, so when doing a pizza bar, how does everyone get fed? Everyone takes turns using the oven? I've always wondered this, hah, strange thing to wonder I know.

  9. The commercials definitely aren't as exciting as before, but I did really like that one. Who can hate on nsync??? And there were some good meaningful ones, too. That pizza bar looks delicious - fun way to get out for a bit and then back at home to relax on your own couch!

  10. Agree on all counts. I LOVED seeing JT in that Bai commercial and definitely squealed haha! I am NOT a Pat's fan but sheesh, I was happy for them! Lady Gaga really crushed it! :)

  12. Pizza bar! That is such a fun idea. Glad you had a good time! I will be honest... I spent most of the night chasing R around (do not feed a toddler buffalo dip whatever you do! wow) and we left the party at 8:30 BEFORE the craziness happened and I didn't even watch the end of the game.

  15. This was the first Super Bowl that I haven't watched in a LONG time. We had been to the Garth concert the day before and I was exhausted. We went to bed during halftime and I thought the Falcons had it in the bag. My dad woke me up early the next morning to tell me what happened and I didn't beleive him. My family cooked steaks before the game but I love the pizza bar. So fun and creative! I'm stealing this idea!

  16. I was really sad the Falcons lost. It's hard being a sports fan that lived in Atlanta because all the teams mess up their chsnces some way or another. I loved Lady Gaga though!!! The commercials were awful. Not a single one stood out to me except the Honda one. The pizza bar looks yummy!
