I Didn't Leave My House This Weekend

If that title isn't enough to draw blog readers from near or far I don't know what it?! ;) This weekend was all about recovering in our household. In the past week all three of us have gotten nasty colds that have lingered far longer than I'd hoped. Having a sick baby is pretty miserable, but having a sick baby while you're sick yourself? Woof. It's been an ugly, germy week over here that's for sure. Luckily, we're past the worst of it but it'll be a good day when we can stop using the NoseFrida. Y'all... that thing is disgusting but absolutely necessary. And as if that wasn't enough, T also had his 6-month check up on Friday but thankfully his post-shots tears were short lived. And our chunker is officially over 18 pounds. I better have some amazing biceps forming...

Since we were pretty much stuck at home for the weekend, Jared and I continued on with our old person status and started a new Christmas puzzle. White Mountain brand has SO many great puzzles, in case any other nerds are looking for some new ones. We always get ours on Amazon. Even though we didn't feel well and went to bed mega-early, it was relaxing to puzzle and listen to some Christmas tunes. My brother-in-law got us the Elf soundtrack on vinyl and we're pretty obsessed. I mean, anything Elf related is obviously awesome right? Unless you're an Elf on the Shelf. No, no, no. Doesn't that just take way too much work and effort people?! Just say no!! ;)

I'm trying to resist buying ALL THE THINGS for T's first Christmas. He will literally remember none of it. But of course it's special for Jared and I more than anything ;) We bought him some cute outfits to rock in the coming weeks and I'm still trying to pick out the perfect "1st Christmas" ornament for him. As a kid I always got an ornament every year from my parents and we want to start that tradition with T. I think this year I want to go with something really simple and classic like this one or this one. There will be plenty of years for fun character/hobby ornaments as he grows up.

In other randomness, I am also on the hunt for a cute, but affordable holiday dress for Jared's upcoming work party. My closet is lacking these days, especially in the dress department. I just don't have any! Now would be a great time to have friends nearby who wore the same size and would just open up their closet to me. I don't have a need for dressing up too much these days but I suppose having a nice little black dress would be a good investment. We'll see what I come up with...

Last thing! Thanks to everyone who entered my LuLaRoe leggings giveaway and thanks again to Jen for collaborating with me and my readers. The lucky winner is TABITHA! I'll be emailing you soon to coordinate the shipping of your item :)

  1. Hahaha, I just blogged about our elf on the shelf on Friday. We love our Ruby! :)

Hope you're all feeling better. You're right, having a sick baby while you're sick is miserable. The only thing worse is a sick baby while you're sick AND pregnant. Phew, I don't miss those days! :)

  2. I hope you're feeling better this week so you can get to even more Christmas prep. I remember that my parents always got me an ornament every year, too, and I still have them. It'll be a great tradition to start for your family :)

  3. Omg, that meme is TOO TRUE. I'm on my third cold in two months, and I just can't kick it. I'm in misery. I hope you all feel better soon! I've been dying to do a puzzle, but there's nowhere to do it where G won't attack it, so I downloaded a puzzle app on my phone instead.

  4. Hope you're all feeling better! I've started buying puzzles at the local thrift store and while it's sort of gamble (you just never know if there will be pieces missing) I've developed a few strategies to increase the odds they're all there. I wish I had friends closer by who were into puzzles so we could trade them around a group! I hate paying money for a puzzle I'm only going to do once!

  6. Sorry for the illnesses but honestly I was excited by this title because those weekends are awesome and I only get them like once or twice a year. LOL

  7. Sorry to hear you've all been sick. Same thing is going on at my house right now. My kids shared their colds and now we are all sickly. Here's to hoping we all feel better soon and that we get the sickness out of the way BEFORE Christmas :)

  8. Before you get yourself in the mind set of never doing EOTS, just a heads up that many classrooms are allowed to do it so he will see one there perhaps and then ask where his elf is at home. I'm just giving fair warning! I have a friend who has 3 kids and each one has their own elf. I think that's a bit too much, I'd do one elf for the family.

  9. I'm sorry you're all sick! It's going around here, too. I tried to stay in most of the weekend so it wouldn't get worse! And I agree with the Elf on a Shelf! I think I would constantly be forgetting to move it and my kids would catch me. LOL.

  10. Oh my gosh, I want the Elf soundtrack on record too! That's awesome! I do have a Chipmunks Christmas album that used to be my mom's, I listened to that last year & it was awesome. :)

  11. I'm sorry that y'all were so sick, but at the same time a weekend of not doing much of anything sounds pretty wonderful right now! I love that you got a new ornament every year growing up, and it sounds like another great tradition to continue with T!

  12. Being sick when you have a baby to take care of is 100% the worst ever. Especially when there is puking involved, which has happened to me more than once. The kicker is a few months ago when I was sick and Jordan had the NERVE to get strep and was contagious for 48 hours and couldn't even get near R, so he was sicker than me and I had to take care of all 3 of us! Still waiting for my medal to come in the mail for that one.

  13. I've said NO to Elf on the Shelf. just.no. Too much. and then you're roped into it for YEARS! One of my daughter's friends asked her if she had an elf and her response was "no, we don't even have a shelf". Hahahaha!!!!

  14. Ugh, I hope everyone in your household is feeling back to 100% asap!! I love weekends like that, where we cozy up at home, make hot chocolate, do a puzzle and just do nothing! ALSO! Maybe once I'm a mom I'll feel differently, but I've never understood Elf on the Shelf and the point of it all. It seems odd/creepy.

  15. LOL, that first photo. I think it seems like that always.
    Hope you feel better now.

  17. We did Elf on the Shelf for a couple of years but Connor is just too smart for his own good and started to catch on. And yes... it's just a lot of extra work!
