A Good Friday Indeed

I'm going to cut to the chase this Friday morning and just say this. Y'ALL ROCK. I was blown away by the response I got to yesterday's post. Each and every one of you that commented (and those that didn't/couldn't!) just reaffirmed how awesome the blog world is. I appreciate all the encouraging and sweet words, and I agree with you all so much in regards to how and why things have changed over the years. I answered everyone I could but just to sum up for those stalking along:

- Blogging has definitely changed, but everyone out there is still awesome.

- Commenting from phones is difficult, especially with the Bloglovin' App. Cmon BL, help a blogger out!

- Paid posts kinda' suck, unless it's actually a good fit for the blog/blogger. I only do them on occasion and truly only try to write them if it's something I feel good about, relate to, or find relevant to my blog and my readers. I have a collaboration coming up with Uncommon Goods that I'm stoked about because I actually shop there and love finding gifts there this time of year. Stay tuned ;)

But I think that's enough about blogging for now. Just know I appreciated the feedback SO much and it was nice to "meet" even more of you who have been silently reading along.

In other news? My main man's birthday is tomorrow! I felt a little guilty because it truly snuck* up on me this year... but I think it snuck* up on him too ;) I don't think I can really top his surprise Nerdy 30 from last year, gosh that was a fun night! We're low-key celebrating at home over the weekend and then Sunday we'll be doing a combination Thanksgiving/birthday get together with Jared's family. I can't wait to celebrate my favorite guy and hopefully have a lot of fun over the next few days.
*I know you're supposed to say sneaked, not snuck... but I just can't bring myself to. The end.
Jared's 30th from last year. And a 9-week old baby in my belly!!

It's hard to believe it's actually time for holiday celebrations. While it's so awesome to think we have a new little buddy to enjoy this season with, I'm not gonna' lie- it feels a tad bit stressful too. How do you momma's handle the holiday chaos with a little one? I'm just picturing the traveling around, no naps, packing practically the whole world to go over to someone's house. Ugh- send help.

That's all I've got for today. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend ahead of you. Happy Friday!!

  1. It's so refreshing to see that there is a vast majority who still love the same blog world that we do! Hopefully bloglovin' will get it together soon. That is part of the issue for sure. BUT Yay for Jared's birthday! I hope y'all have an amazing long weekend together and enjoy your first of many thanksgiving feasts! Happy Friday friend!

  2. Your post yesterday (and the comments) gave me a new inspiration for blogging again. I've needed it! :) I miss the old days, but I'm glad there are still lots of people out there who share tidbits of their lives, and not just paid posts!

SNUCK. It's snuck. No questions. I can't used "sneaked" ;) hehe

  4. Didn't get a chance to comment yesterday...but please know that I absolutely love hearing what you have to say. Put me in the loyal reader bucket for sure! I do try to comment on blogs that I read often, but reading on the phone more has made commenting difficult for me. Definitely enjoy the dialogue with various bloggers via comments and subsequent conversations and have certainly enjoyed getting to know you over the years! :) Yay for birthday fun! I can't even comprehend the fact that Thanksgiving is next week. Time needs to slow its roll!

  5. The first year traveling with an itty bitty is the most difficult. It does get easier (I have a 2 year old). I have a checklist that I made that lists all of the essentials by 'area' (feeding, sleeping, play, etc). I've just kept updating it as she's gotten older. This makes me sound MUCH more organized than I am. Basically, you just wing it, mama!

  6. I am wondering about how I am going to be traveling with a few week old infant for Christmas! Not that we have more than an hour to go at a time, but still! Good thing I got a big SUV to pack her entire room in!This whole year snuck up on me. Have no clue how Thanksgiving is next week but I am just going to go with it! Hope you have a great weekend celebrating!! Happy Birthday to Jared!

  7. Re: holidays for the little. Say no, cut back, do what you have to do.

We ended up choosing to be at one place/party per day when our kids were little. We realized it just wasn't worth it to be on the go all day long.

And realize he may need a week after the holiday to get back to the normal routine.

  8. I just clicked back to your post from yesterday and am almost giddy with excitement to check out some of the bloggers that left comments...there are still bloggers out there blogging for the sake of blogging! Happy Friday, indeed! Hope Jared has a wonderful birthday and you all have a great day celebrating! :)

  9. I don't know why but I hate the word sneaked. It sounds so incorrect. Happy birthday to Jared!

  13. T will learn to nap. You remind me of me when I first had Connor. I had him late October so we had Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Tyler will nap when he is tired and you just pack everything but the kitchen sink. You may overpack but hey, at least your are prepared.

  14. It reaaaaally is a pain to use the bloglovin app. Honestly, I mostly use the app for weeding through the posts I don't want to read and then I try to go on my computer or ipad to read because it's easier that way.

Hope you have a happy, food-stuffed Thanksgiving!

    1. Oops, forgot to add: I always tried to keep an eye on Mav's mood at big get-togethers. When he started getting cranky we would retreat to a private room to "feed him" even if he didn't need to eat. Even 10-15 minutes of quiet time makes all the difference for them. He likely won't nap like normal but will probably fall asleep while someone is holding him haha. We always took what we could get and rolled with it because it's usually only a few days of chaos before you get back to normal. Good luck!
