Let's Grab Coffee

Today is one of those days where nothing going on in life warrants an entire post, but I have a lot of little things that just need dumped in one space. Think of this post as the conversation we'd have and the topics we'd cover if you came over to hang out one evening. Or if I actually escaped my house for a couple of hours to grab dinner or coffee or something. Any takers??

So the post office is new to me. Yes, the post office. At work I've always had the convenience of mailing things right from our offices. I'd always pay for my own postage of course, but I could use the scale, postage machine, and then it got picked up right there daily. Since being on maternity leave I've had to make 3 trips to our local post office and I'm starting to feel like a regular there now. They are always so nice and didn't laugh (at least to my face) about how clueless I was the first time I went in.

Jared is coaching junior high football again this year and that started back up last week. That guy is a trooper. Works 10-hour days then goes straight to evening practices every night of the week right now. Once school actually starts it won't be nearly as tough of a grind, but it's a lot of dedication, especially at the beginning. I'm excited to watch him coach again and this season I'll have a little sidekick with me cheering him on. Speaking of that sidekick...

He is now 10 weeks old and weighing in a little over 12 pounds! He had to get a few shots this past week at his check-up which was pretty much the saddest thing ever. They really made him kinda crabby, sad and extra sleepy for most of the weekend but luckily he's his happy little self again. And I'm happy we don't have to go back to the doctor until October now- whew! I think I need the break more than he does ;)

I have a credit to StitchFix that I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on soon. I've only done one of these, way back when it was first brand new- but through my referral link I've had a credit sitting around waiting on me for awhile. I figured maybe now was a good time to try a few new things, although I'm a little clueless on what size I wear these days. May as well just give it a whirl and see if I get any winners, right? To you friends that use them all the time- am I supposed to make a Pinterest board for my stylist? I didn't do that the first time but I've noticed a lot of people mention it in their posts/reviews.

Last, but certainly not least- Happy 25th Birthday to my SIL, Kayla!! I hope today is filled with lots of sweet tea and marshmallow fluff, as much as you want ;) And I hope that you feel special and loved because YOU ARE! I'm lucky to call you family!

  1. Love our coffee dates! I know we'd be sitting for hours just talking and catching up on life.

  2. Shots are the worst! We just had the six months ones yesterday, but they made him WAY less crabby than the first round made him. So it gets better (I think?!)!

  3. For StichFix, I highly recommend as much detail as possible. I always go and update my Pinterest style board when I schedule a fix. I have no idea if they even look at it, but I figure it won't hurt. Tip: look for StitchFix pins on Pinterest - you might find something they actually have that you love/can request. Put lots of details in the note to your stylist too! Gosh, I love SF. Can you tell? Lol.

  5. 10 weeks?!?! Where has the time gone? I seriously get teary when my dog gets his shots so I can't even imagine how I am going to feel watching my little girl get hers. Eek! Mommy is going to need a lollipop too! I had to laugh at the post office thing because even though I have been in there a million times, I still feel like an idiot every single one of them.

  6. Those doctor appointments are the worst! I hate how frequent those doctor visits are in the beginning. It's exhausting!

  7. I've heard horror stories about the doctor's appointments for littles checkups! At least he's back to his cute self now! And way to go Jared on coaching! It takes a lot out of me with work, so that's awesome that he still goes on coaches afterwards!

  11. I was a newbie at the post office not too long ago. I feel like I only know how to do one thing, though, and I always get the paper ready beforehand so I can make it as painless as possible!

  12. Make a Pinterest board for cute clothes you like - the stylists DO look at them. Mine has referenced things I have pinned in her notes to me. Be as specific as possible. On the app, you can now upload a photo of yourself which I think is super helpful because I am pear shaped and I need size small tops because of my smaller bust. I kept saying that over and over and kept getting these tops that were too flowy and too big. I generally just ask for tops or jeans or casual dresses, nothing too specific, but in my last Fix I specifically requested green/yellow tops, colored jeans, and something for date night and it's the first Fix I've kept 5/5!

  14. the only reason i go to the post office is to send things to australia.. oh they got MAD at me the first time i did it, because i wrote out the sender/receiver the way we do it and it's different here and they made me feel so stupid! i haven't been back to that one lol i drive out of my way to go to another. i'm glad the people at yours were nice!
i think you should create a pinterest board - or i guess you could use one you already have if you have a style/fashion board. i hope you get some good stuff!

  15. I feel like such an idiot at the post office. It's so unbelievably intimidating to me. My mom ALWAYS mailed stuff for me, even in college, but now, I'm on my own and embarrass myself every single time I go in there. I wish I lived in the area - I'd love to just hang out over dinner and catch up! Poor little guy with his shots. That thought breaks my heart.
