A Random Life Update

First and foremost- thanks to everyone who read my massively long, three-part birth story I finally posted. It was truly therapeutic to write it all out and while I wasn't sure at first if I should post it all, I am 100% glad I did. So many of you have had similar experiences or even just an experience that didn't go how you'd hoped and I'm glad we can chat about it! It's great to talk to people who have been through it and together we can hate all those people who get the easiest/best birth stories ever ;) Just joking... mostly.

So since this week was all emotional and heavy I wanted to lighten things up today. It's Friday after all. The last Friday of July and do you know what that signifies?! FOOTBALL STARTS NEXT MONTH!! The past three years I've done a one time only "Football Friday" link-up on my blog, I hope you all are still interested because I want to host that again. It'll be a day to post about anything and everything football... favorite team, memories, tailgate food, fashion, you name it. Anything goes. I'll pick a day soon and be sure to let you know so you can get your posts ready :) Here is last's years to give you an idea of what I posted.
Posting this again in hopes that it will give our guys some luck!

What else is going on? Well, I'm proud to say I've started a photobook for T's first year. I knew if I waited until his first birthday or something it would never get done. And the amount of photos I've taken already is just obscene so it was nice to get a start on that. It's probably going to be my favorite photobook of all time... see below for an example of why.

Facebook/Timehop reminded me this week that it was exactly 2 years ago that I cut and donated 12" of hair! It tempted me to cut mine again, but I can't decide if having short hair with a new baby is a good or bad things- moms?? It's long now which is nice because I can throw it in a ponytail or bun every day (and let's be honest- that's what I have time for) but maybe short hair could be good too because less time washing/drying? These are clearly big decisions for my life right now.

Then the haircut led me to remembering that I have a 30 before 30 list that I should probably revisit. I've crossed off about half of them and a handful of them are still in progress, but I better get on it if I want to come close to finishing them all. I officially have less than 9 months to go- yikes!

This now concludes one of my most random posts ever...but sometimes you just gotta drain dump everything into one post and catch up with life. Happy Friday and happy weekending everyone! :)

  1. I would recommend holding off on cutting your hair! I had the urge to do the samew when Sam was a baby and then regretted it. Some days it was just SO much easier if I didn't have time to shower to throw it up. Where the shorter style NEEDED to be washed and styled. Happy Friday! xo

  2. I wore my hair short for a while...when I was pregnant for my second, then grew it out and chopped it for the third. I could shower, dry, and style it within 30 minutes. Now it's shoulder length so I can throw it in a pony if I want (and my baby is 5!).

  3. Mom advice on the hair :) feel free to cut it, but make sure it's still long enough to put up in a ponytail. Before you know it, he'll be grabbing at your hair like its a rope lifting him out of the ocean, and you'll be glad you can put it back and out of reach!!!

  5. I had the urge recently to cut my hair off and I decided against, I want to be able to throw my hair in a pony tail when baby is born.

  6. You did a great job with your birth posts, lady! WOOHOO Football so soon!!!!

Not a mom, but thoughts on the short hair. When you had it short did you have to wash and style it every day, or could you go second day hair easy? From what moms tell me, sometimes having hair that can go up, be twisted in a bun or braid is easier than short hair that must be styled. You look great with both lengths.

  7. I'm so excited for your Football Friday linkup! I really enjoyed reading all about everybody else's love for football and their teams and being able to share mine as well! Way to go on starting your yearbook for T's first year! I'm so behind on all of my photobooks, but I'm hoping that I'll be able to finish them up soon!

  8. I have a friend who takes weekly pics of the baby, then hashtags them or files them away then creates brag books of them every time they reach a milestone of a year, 2 years, etc.

And yay for football link up!

  9. Your hair is super cute at that length! I went shorter post-baby because I was just ready for a change - and shorter drying time is definitely a perk. And GOOD FOR YOU on starting the photobook already. Totally winning at momming. Since I finally tackled Hendrik's baby book (when he was 2.5), I was thinking I should just sit down and do one page at the end of each month from here out... have I done so? Hrm.

  10. If you go shorter, maybe do shoulder length so you still have the option to throw it up? Then no regrets! I am so ready for football season so I will be on the lookout for your linkup! Hope you have a great weekend!

  11. Chop it!!! You will sooo appreciate the short length of time it takes to fix it when you go back to work. And it won't be in a bun or pony ever.single.day! I just chopped mine and question why the hell I hadn't done it earlier.

  12. You can ROCK short hair like no other so maybe just do it?! ! ?!?! Or not... I am no help with this decision ;)

Happy Friday! I just want to give T's cheeks a big ol' smooch! He's so handsome, Erin.

  13. I chopped my hair and am growing it back out... but will probably end up chopping it again! It's really frustrating when little grabby hands pull at it, but that doesn't last for long and not until they're a few months old. Ultimately I love the short hair because it's so much faster to dry and straighten, but I also miss the easy ponytail. Hard decisions ;-) (Also, you look great with short and long hair!)

  16. Woo hoo for football! I am the same way about hair cutting decisions! So much to think about! Yours look great either way!

  17. That picture of T...SWOOON. And I'm 6 months into momming and still can't figure out if I want to chop or not. It's super long now, but you wouldn't know that because it's ALWAYS ON TOP OF MY HEAD IN A BUN. Also, Jack yanks on my hair like nobody's business and for such a tiny guy, he can rip out a heck a lot of hair in about three seconds. Haha I might cut it for the fall, we'll see! I think you look adorable with the short hair!

  18. i am so glad i am behind on blog reading because now i can go and read your birth story all at once and not have to wait hahaha.
i am not a mom, obviously, and my hair has never been that short, but even at my shortest, i couldn't throw it up into a bun or ponytail easily. which is super annoying, because i don't want my hair in my face when i'm chilling at home or cleaning the house.. or working out. so it was super cute when i did it, and it forced me to style it, but i hated not having the ability to NOT do it. but, you look freaking fabulous with short hair so i would probably vote for that anyway haha

  19. I chopped my hair back in January and I wish I would have done it sooner! Mom cut for the win ;) my only requirement was that it fit into a teeny tiny ponytail when necessary!

  20. I don't recommend a haircut. First of all, your post-partum hairloss is probably going to kick in soon (if it hasn't already). Second, once the little man gets to the grabby stage, he'll be pulling your hair CONSTANTLY. Now that A is 16 months, he's finally stopped pulling my hair, so i can wear it down more.

  21. I love random posts, sometimes they are the most fun. :)

I'm glad to hear that you've started working on "T"'s photo book. It will be one that will be looked back upon many times.
