75 Days to Go

That's right folks. Just 75 short little days until we get to meet our son. You know, give or take some days/weeks. I have three different pregnancy apps on my phone (don't judge) that remind me daily that our time as just a couple is quickly coming to an end. While we are thrilled about becoming parents, we've also settled into the mindset of "Let's live it up while we still can!" I mean, 75 days is less than 11 weeks and that means roughly 11 weekends of "freedom" before our family becomes three and our lives start revolving around diaper duty and feeding schedules.

I've mentioned countless times on here that Jared and I are guilty of doing the same things a lot- we are creatures of habit for our date nights and weekends, for sure. The 75 day reminder has me itching to get out and do more with my hubby though so we've devised a fun "plan" for the next couple of months. We're going to commit to one unique date/outing each weekend, and we'll take turns being the one to plan them. That way we aren't sitting around on a Friday evening scrambling to think of something to do and debating on if we should spend the money or not. Spoiler alert- that always results in us doing nothing.

Remember that passport I made for Jared way back when? Well, we only stamped off about half of those things so we're determined to knock out the rest of them on our quest to date it up during the final countdown. There are museums we haven't seen yet, a quirky restaurant that we've always meant to try and I'm hoping the weather continues to cooperate so we can hit up some fun parks for long walks and maybe even a bike ride or two.

I love continuing to date Jared year after year. How we date each other has surely changed since our early puppy-love days and will continue to change and evolve as we become parents and enter into a new phase of life together. But it's comforting to know that no matter the phase of life, I'll always have this guy by my side and we'll always be on a lifelong date together. ;)

So let's hear it. What is your favorite date to go on with your significant other? Or, what was a must-do 'before baby' date you went on? I'm looking forward to soaking in these last couple of months and enjoying every second with my man.

  2. Ahhhhhh 75 days!!!! That is so exciting! I love that you guys are going to use this time to date and try new things. Chris and I love trying new restaurants so that would be on my list. Go to as many as I can since I know that our nights out will be numbered. You should try to do a night away somewhere to a city fairly close that you have been meaning to explore.

  3. We didn't do a lot before baby but we make it a point to have date night and family date night after baby. With our schedules so different we need to connect once and a while.

  4. I dont have any "must do before baby" things for you since I don't know, but I think doing something new/fun or exploring a new place in your area is a great date idea!

  5. Wow, 75 days, that is so stinking exciting. I think it is wonderful y'all are trying to soak up as much time with each other as you can. I don't have any incite, but love planning a picnic when it's warm outside and just enjoying the weather. Maybe overlook the river by the city?

  6. We are pretty low-key when it comes to dates too, but we always like going out to eat and just talking. Sports are another one, whether it's going to a game or going to the batting cages or playing catch or something. Cheers to the last 11ish weeks!

  7. I absolutely LOVE this. I'm a dating machine, so this is right up my alley. Wheat and I are suckers for a good dinner and movie date, but if you're looking for something unique and fun, I would suggest tracking down something totally off-the-wall in your area. For Cincinnati, I would suggest the Loveland Castle or the American Sign Museum (if you haven't been yet). The Sign Museum is kinda small, but so very weird and PERFECT for pictures. You can take a tour with a guide or just walk at your own pace. Like I said, it's not very big, but I think chasing that with Camp Washington Chili (which is really close) would be a perfect date. :) 75 days!!! AHHHH!!!!

  9. I swear you just told us you were pregnant and now it's almost time for you to meet the little guy! I don't know if it is considered a date or not, but almost every Sunday evening in the summer we get ice cream at our local shop. It's something I would do with my family and now have gotten him to carry on that tradition. We also try to go to our local drive in restaurant as well.

  10. We threw caution to the wind and bought Garth Brooks tickets. Totally not in our budget that month, but we still say to this day that it was our favorite thing we did before our little guy he arrived. He loved it too ;) he was rocking out in my belly the whole time, ha!

  12. Hooray! You are so, so close. I would say sleep in as many weekends as you can. Also, just dinners out at nice restaurants (like ones you wouldn't take a baby to), any concerts and simply going to a movie. It's just little things like that, which will be harder after baby. But, don't worry, it's totally worth it ;)

  22. 75 days omg! 11 weeks sounds longer haha. KC and I don't really 'date'. I know that might seem bad, but it works for us.. I mean we spend time together and do things together, I guess we just don't consider them dates? Who knows. Okay, the things we 'do' together lol: gym, brunch + movies, walks, bookstores.. that's about it lol. we're super exciting :) have fun and enjoy this time!

  23. Eeep! So close!! One of my favorite things to do before Mav was born was to just walk around stores with no time limit. A lot of trips with kids tend to be rushed for one reason or another. I'm so glad we spent time just wandering and being goofy before because it's rare that we go to the store together, without him, anymore. We also went to a hockey game right before he was born which we hadn't done in forever before that! Good thing we did because we just had our first hockey experience bringing Mav and it was something else ;)

  24. This is so great! You guys are maximizing your time as a family of two and your family of three will be so much stronger for it.

I planned a surprise date for Kevin a couple of years ago and made it a choose-your-own-adventure type date. He could choose the dinner venue from four options then a post-date activity from four options, I think... I posted about it here if you want more detail: https://adesertgirl.wordpress.com/2014/08/18/sweekend-20/. It was fun!

  25. When are you due? It sounds like you are due pretty close to my wedding-- it's in 11 weeks as well!

  26. You are wise to soak up all the date nights that you don't have to pay a babysitter for. Haha. What is on your list and I'll tell you what to move to the top. ;)

  27. 75 days...holycow! I feel like you just announced you were pregnant. I'm glad you two are planning to live it up :)

  28. I can't believe that it's less than 75 days now! That's so crazy! I think that y'all should definitely visit a fun restaurant that you might not be able to try out after he gets here. Y'all could also go on a spontaneous roadtrip one weekend because I've heard that spontaneity is harder once a baby comes along.

  29. Have fun completing that passport! Can't believe it's so close!!
