Food Coma

Happy day-we-all-wish-we-weren't-at-work! ;) I am officially still in a food coma from last night. Entirely too much chips and dip was consumed but that's really what the Super Bowl is all about, right?

We didn't have a big party or anything this year, but we had Caleb and Kayla over for some pre-game board games, food and lounging around. It was a much overdue game session for our foursome. The guys beat us in Sequence (lame) but I came out on top for Monopoly which was definitely a first so of course I needed a photo with all my money ;)

Even though I was rooting for the Panthers to win, I was rooting more for a good game- and I don't really feel like we got that. It was sloppy football on both sides and just not that exciting for me overall. I thought Lady Gaga KILLED IT on the National Anthem, and I can't help it, I loved her outfit and look. Very "her" but not too crazy/weird. Halftime show? Eh. It felt shorter than normal and while I can appreciate each of those musical artists, it felt weird to have them all mashed together in the same show. I could have probably just enjoyed a full Bruno Mars show and been good.

Thoughts on the commercials? Another "eh" from me in this category. Not that many funny ones. The Doritos/baby one was equally funny/creepy to me as someone who is currently pregnant. And I also liked the other Doritos commercial with the dogs sneaking into the supermarket. Probably more so just because I liked all the dogs.

Super Bowl 50, you were a bit boring for me- for all the hyper surrounding the golden year and all that. But hey, maybe I'm just bitter since I know the Bengals could have beat both those teams playing last night ;)

  1. I love me some SuperBowl food. We had a quiet football Sunday since my bestie was in town, but we enjoyed some tasty treats. I felt like the game started off really well and then the defenses on both sides took over. I am glad Peyton got his win but I wish Cam had a bit more success.

Coldplay for halftime just didn't make sense. Bros didn't even know who was playing when they were interviewed earlier this month. The big guys need to learn that rock really doesn't translate, just keep Bruno every year :)!

  2. Such a horrible game, it was sloppy football and super disappointing.

I loved the Doritos baby commercial although I thought it was wrong it made me laugh. Haha

  3. SAME feelings about the halftime show. So weird having those three together that I felt like there was no way to have it be great with that many great people! Does that make sense? When it ended we were like, "it's already over??"

  4. Yup, I couldn't agree more about the half time show. I actually thought Lade Gaga was better! And I was kinda eh about the commercials although I did like the dog Dorito one! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  5. No it's not just you....you are totally correct. And halftime was just YUK. Let's just have one great act alone. I don't understand all the mashups, they never make sense.

  6. I could not agree with this post more! I'd consider that game a just "okay" game. Defense driven games are just not as much fun as lots of touchdowns back and forth! I am happy for Peyton though. He is such a class act and proved that even more after the game.

That halftime show...I don't even know how the biggest fans of those 3 could have been happy with that show. You couldn't hear anything!!!!

And the commercials.....not good at all. I feel like the more expensive they get, the worse they get. There were some seriously odd topics and companies involved this year. The Doritos commercials were definitely my fave, but that's not really saying much....I did LOL though.

  7. I did not watch the game but I did watch half time! I was not impressed at all with the half time show.

  8. I love that you have Disney Monopoly :) I usually feel like I'm missing out on the Super Bowl Commercials (most of them don't actually air in Canada) but this year the general consensus really seems to be they were all just "meh".

  9. Super Bowl food is the best. You know I was cheering for the Broncos because of Peyton...I was unimpressed with the commercials though. We had a great local one about the Rams moving #slamstan.

  11. I liked the dogs in the supermarket. Meh on the baby. I loved the Amazon Echo and Jeep commercials.

    Terrible and weird half time.

I never care about the actual game. LOL

  13. I'm with you on thinking that everything was just kind of whatever last night, especially the Half Time performance! I would have preferred to have just Bruno Mars and Beyonce, because Coldplay just wasn't up to par. Lady Gaga totally killed it, and I loved her! I was pretty happy with the Broncos win last night, especially since Von Miller got the MVP! I love him, and not just because he's an Aggie ;)

  14. I feel like I'm still in a food coma, too. So much good superbowl food! I didnt even eat dinner last night because I was just picking at all of the yummy apps!

  15. Sounds like a fun night! I love that you have Disney monopoly! I agree that the game, the commercials, and the halftime were all kinda lame. And that Lady Gaga totally killed it!! Totally! I didn't have a preference either way for who won, but had hoped the game would have been a little more competitive. Not sure if you watched the post game interviews, but I couldn't have been more disappointed in how Cam handled himself. I know losing is not the preferred outcome, but geez dude take a note from your coach and be a little more professional about it. Wowzer!! Definitely gave me a different opinion of him after all he did to boost his image this season!

  16. My favorite was the wiener dog commercial. Wieners in hotdog costumes was just too funny! I think we're all in a bit of a food coma today. I would totally sign the petition to make the day after the game a national holiday!

  17. I totally agree- it was really sloppy playing by both teams and sort of meh half time show LOL! Glad you guys were playing fun games! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  19. i rarely watch football but i watched this as we had people over, and i agree. it wasn't a good game. i was bored most of the time, and eve though i don't love football, i can watch a game and be interested. does that make sense? anyway. it was sloppy. the doritos baby one was kind of freaky. i missed lady gaga's performance, gosh darn it.

  20. Totally agree it wasn't a super great game, but I was happy to see Peyton Manning win as I really think that was his final game! It's more about the food for me anyway ;) My favorite was the Subaru commercial with the Golden Retrievers - I just love anything with dogs!!

  21. game was meh
commercials were also meh - i loved the doritos dog one and the Steven Tyler Skittles. other than that - eh. now i really hope Peyton goes away!

  22. The game was super boring for me too and the commercials were horrendous. Basically Lady Gaga was the only enjoyable part of the game for me. Besides the buffalo chicken dip I consumed in masses. Which I am regretting today feeling all gross haha! We had the same scoops too!

  23. It was boring for me as well! I stopped watching after the halftime show. I didn't find many commercials were that funny either - I feel like they weren't really trying?!! I did enjoy an excuse for extra snacks at least :)

  24. So yea, the game sucked for us too! My husband got mad over some play, lost his cool, and accidentally put a hole in our bedroom door. So I was mad at him the rest of the night. Half time didn't make sense. Coldplay's performance made me feel like what it feels like to be on acid or something (that could be a bad comparison bc I don't know what it feels like to be on acid). Bruno Mars sang the same song he sang 2 years ago, and Beyonce basically promoted her upcoming tour and said she carries hot sauce in her bag. Only good thing about yesterday was hanging out with some new friends and stuffing my face with yummy food. Oh and it turns out you miss a lot of commercials when you have to take care of a 4 month old.

  26. I love sequence!!!!We always play that when we go to my brothers for game night. I was less than impressed with the half-time show! I agree, I think another Bruno Mars halftime would've been amazing!!!

  27. What a fun night! We are STILL recovering from the food coma... Oops! We went a little crazy considering it was only the 4 us... And one of "us" doesn't even eat food yet, ha ha! I felt like the half time show was short, too! And Eric cried from laughing so hard during the Doritos commercial. Clearly he's never housed a baby in his body before- ha!

  28. Sounds like you had a nice evening even though the game/commercials/halftime were lacking. Good for you!

So, how have you been feeling lately?
