All the Sports

Now that football season has finally concluded, I can start caring about other sports again! Even though football will always have the #1 spot in my heart, there are a lot of other sports I enjoy this time of year. I keep up with the NBA a fair amount, but since their season is SO LONG, I hold off on getting too invested until this time of year. The Indianapolis Pacers have been my favorite team since 2009 and Jared and I love getting to a game each year if we can. It helps that two former coworkers of mine now work for the team and can occasionally hook us up with some tickets ;)

And with this time of year, you can't forget March Madness of course! I'll be the first to admit I don't have a favorite college basketball team I follow, but there is nothing more fun than the madness than ensues for the NCAA tournament each year. Making brackets, wagers at work, upsets left and right?! SUCH a fun time in sports. I always love to see the local teams do well (Ohio State, UofCincy, Louisville, etc) but again- since I don't have a team I just love rooting for good games and good underdog stories.

The obvious sport just around the bend is baseball! Even on this snowy, freezing day- I can dream of warm afternoons at Great American Ballpark with some nachos. I've been stalking the Reds home schedule already since I will likely only get to a couple of games before the baby's born in June. Jared and I might splurge on some good seats for one game, but honestly- the cheap seats are just as fun :)

Last but not least, I am already getting excited thinking about the Summer Olympics! Yes, yes they aren't until early August but who doesn't love the excitement of summer olympic years?! There are SO many good sports to watch- my favorites are usually gymnastics, the track and field events and a lot of the swimming/diving events. Man, don't I wish I was going to Rio de Janeiro to watch them live ;)

What sports are you "diving" into now that football is over? (See what I did there?) Have you been counting down the days until football season was over... or will you happily be watching the NFL Draft come April? I know I will! Happy Wednesday, sports fans!

  2. I'm SO excited for baseball season to start - April 4th can't come soon enough! And I totally forgot that the Summer Olympics are already this year - I swear they were just in London!

I love the gymnastics and all the swimming events too! I need to take time off work for when they're on so I don't miss anything! haha

  3. I am SO PUMPED for the Olympics this year!! I seriously get so sad when they're over and I know I have to wait another 2 years but who cares, I'll worry about that in 7 months ;) I'm with you, gymnastics are my favorite usually but I love swimming too, and since becoming a runner the track and field events are way more interesting :)

  5. Football works its way into basketball (NCAA - never been into the NBA) - and March Madness (Rock Chalk, baby!) and then, of course, baseball. The Royals are ready to defend their title! 8 days until catchers and pitchers report! and i absolutely can not WAIT for the Olympics. I love the swimming and diving especially.

  6. I'm not a huge sports fun, but (like all good Canadians) I enjoy going to hockey games and will occasionally watch it on TV. I never get to watch the summer olympics because I'm always at camp! When I do get a chance to watch I try to catch gymnastics and show jumping.

  10. We get tickets to the Rockets and Astros sometimes for work, so we'll have those to look forward to, but I'm super excited about the summer olympics this year! We were on a cruise ship last time, so we missed most of the events, so I can't wait to watch it all this year! Plus it's fun to watch the random sports like badminton too!

  11. Wait, I'm confused. What do you mean "other sports"? There's something other than football?? j/k! I love the Reds too! But I'm already ready for football season to be back!

  12. I'm with you; I love most sports and keep up with as much as I can. Being from MN, we are gluttons for punishment and love our Vikings, Twins, Timberwolves, and Lynx. We live in CO now and had an absolute blast taking the whole family to the Broncos celebration. Man, it's fun living somewhere with a great football team. But, I must say, now that my kids are older (11, 9, 7, and 2), watching my boys play baseball and all of my kids run at various 5k events is my new favorite.

  13. While I never seem to be able to keep up with the NBA or college basketball, we always watch March Madness, the NBA all-star weekend, and the playoffs. I used to love to go to the Indians games when I lived at home, but don't make it up for many anymore :(
I am looking forward to signing Xavier up for some sort of sport again this Spring/Summer, so that will take up quite a bit of time :)

  15. In my world, there are no sports other than football. Sorry. LOL! I will be spending lots of time at the baseball field all spring and fall with my two nephews who both play baseball. Does that count?

  16. Baseballllllll! Spring training is right around the corner for us in AZ, can't wait! Mia just asked me the other day when we were going to go to a baseball game, ha ha! Do the Reds come to AZ for spring training? If so, I believe their field is just up the road from where we live! (But I'm not positive that I'm keeping the teams straight, oops!)

A drunk fan ran on the field, we got on the jumbo-tron, our photo was up during fireworks, we got a million runs and OH YEAH - fiiireewooorks! ;) Caleb and I still want to make it to an NBA game! It would be my first!

  18. Oh my gosh, I totally forgot about the Olympics! I love watch the gymnastics! Baseball games are so fun - just the atmosphere is great and all the yummy ballpark food. I have never been to a NBA game, but would love to go!

  19. YOu might wish you were there to see the olympics (i mean, who doesn't) but the added health risks right now will keep me a safe distance away!

  20. I am SO excited about the Summer Olympics! I have a ton of vacation time I have to use by the end of the summer or I will lose it, and part of me wants to take a week off during the Olympics! We go to a few Phillies games a year, and I totally agree, cheap seats can be just as fun! :)

  22. So sad football is over but I only live about an hour north of Indy and I've been a Pacers fan since I was little. In fact, we just went to the Detroit game last weekend!

  23. Cannot wait for the Olympics I get so invested in it considering it only comes around every 4 years! Considering our summers are rarely ever hot/nice I don't feel to guilty spending all my time watching the Olympics.

  24. I am so ready for some March Madness fun! I did a bracket for the first time last year & did okay. This year, I intend to ROCK IT! Tee hee!

I'm like you - football first & then when that's over with my attention goes to Badger basketball & then Brewer baseball with a little bit of Nascar sprinkled in. :)

  25. Go Cavs! Go Nuggets! Haha! I am just so glad that my Broncos won it this year that I am perfectly content in the sporting world this year. I am excited to watch all the swimming in Rio, but the Zeka virus is sure putting a damper on things... :-/
