Terrific Tuesday

It's always good to take the time and recognize the small things that add up to big things in our lives. The little things that make us smile, the silly happenings of a week or just a good meal we enjoyed recently. With the stress I've been under as of late, I definitely haven't taken the time to appreciate things like I should have but we're changing that today. There are so many terrific things going on in life even when we don't see them at first glance. Things like:

Random gifts from sweet blog friends. Emily sent me a gift for no stinkin' reason other than she's got a big heart. Plus she knows the way to mine. A cute journal, fun pencils and even a cute little surprise for Baby M! Blog friends rock.

The best crockpot soup ever. I made a few changes to this recipe if you're interested (no chili beans; added a diced yellow onion and a couple diced bell peppers; I don't shred the chicken at the end, I just cube it before adding it to the crockpot.) I LOVE that this is a hearty meal with protein, veggies and a healthy carb. It tastes even better as leftovers :)

Our treadmill! We ultimately decided that the gym is becoming less and less convenient for us and knowing that come June there will be even less time/motivation to get there, we invested in a treadmill for our house! It's so much easier to pop outta' bed and get a quick workout in, or watch a TV show (or three...) in the evening while getting in some cardio. No excuses now!

My guy. As always, hanging with Jared is my favorite part of the day every single day. I love coming home to him and whether we're pursuing dreams together or just curling up with a good Disney movie- there is no other person I'd rather spend my days with. And just for fun, a throwback photo to us in January 2008- EIGHT January's ago?!! Time flies.

  4. We got a treadmill last year for our house, and it's been such a good investment! It's so much easier to wake up in the morning and run while watching a show from the night before instead of trying to get to the gym. And blog friends are so awesome! You got some great goodies from Emily!

  5. I got a treadmill in October and it is the best thing ever - I love not having to leave my house in -30 weather when I want to exercise! It will definitely come in handy when you have a baby at home!

  7. How is 2008 eight Januarys ago?!?!?! That doesn't seem possible! We are interviewing someone that graduated college in 2008 today and I was like oh my they are a baby! And then I realized it was only 3 years after I graduated and not as recent as it sounds.

That soup looks amazing! You and Jared are adorable. As always.

  9. I am thinking of investing in some form of treadmill because finding the time or energy lately is really difficult and I really need to get back into the fitness game.
Such a sweet gesture from Emily especially including baby M in the gifts. Have a great day!

  10. Gifts for no reason are the best kind! That was so sweet of her. I don't like going to the gym to use the treadmill/elliptical but if I had one in my own house that I could watch a show/movie while running I'd be a lot more likely to use it.

  11. Just because gifts are the best! I definitely need to do some of the same and do more of appreciating the little things these days. Although a treadmill wouldn't be used right now with my boot, I'd love to have something like that once I'm mobile again. You're right, having it at home would make it a lot easier!

  14. I would love the ease and access of a treadmill! I think I may look online to see if I can score one sometime this year. I would be able to finally workout when my time allows which is usually when the Y is the busiest.

i am SO jealous of your treadmill! i love the gym and hope i continue to go when we have kids, but i've told KC i'm 100% getting a treadmill regardless because there's no way i'll be able to go as much as i should / want to. which one did you get, if you don't mind me being nosy?

  24. I can't wait to get a treadmill one day! I lived at home with my parents for a year in college and ran on their treadmill every morning before class. I was in the best shape of my life that year and I KNOW that was why. You are going to be so happy you have that after the baby comes!

  25. I need more crockpot recipes !!
& you're going to do FAB on your new treadmill!! I totally understand the inconvenience of the gym. To change, get in your car, work out, drive BACK home...after a full day of work. it's hard stuff!
