What better way to ease back into blogging than by linking up with Anne and Jenna? I always love their link-up but haven't planned ahead for it in awhile but that changes today! It's one of my favorite link-ups because you get a small snapshot into everyone's world and I always find new bloggers each time, too!

So currently, I'm:

RESOLVING: To keep up with monthly goals! Instead of doing year-long resolutions I enjoy making shorter-term goals each month. I feel like they keep me on track more and are easier to stay focused on and make adjustments as needed. I'll be posting more about my goals for January this week, for any who are interested :)

READING: The Baby Cheapskate. Jared got me this book for Christmas and I'm more than halfway through it already- with notes and post-it's just about everywhere. It's all about saving money, stock-up prices and also a reminder that this tiny human does not HAVE to be as expensive as everyone says.

ORGANIZING: A lot of things. Now that Christmas is all packed away we are tackling more decluttering and purging- like the rest of the world ;) My first focus has been our closet and dressers since we will likely be swapping some furniture around in the coming months. I want to make sure everything that goes back into those closets and drawers deserves a spot.

LOVING: Working on our Etsy shop. Amy and I are having a lot of fun with it and the creative outlet is just what I need some days. If anyone has requests on what they'd like to see in our shop soon- speak up, don't be shy!

CRAVING: Nothing in particular, much to Jared's dismay. He is awaiting the day I ask him to run out for milkshakes at midnight... so far, no go! ;) I do have a big appetite these days which is awesome- just about everything sounds good to me except chicken and brace yourselves- mexican food. I know, it's weird.

So there's my little life update in quick hits. With a home playoff game this weekend work is MADNESS- but I'm hanging on for dear life. Looking forward to catching up with so many of you soon and seeing how 2016 is starting for you. :)

  1. I love this CURRENTLY linkup too. It's been a favorite for awhile. That book sounds awesome, I can't wait to hear your thoughts once you are finished. And yes, I hear you on decluttering and putting away everything. Needs to happen ASAP again.

Looking forward to using your etsy shop for my new planner :)!

  4. A friend of mine loved Mexican food, except when she was pregnant and she was also like "what the heck?" I can't imagine not liking it, but pregnancy does weird things to ya right?

  6. Mmmm, I couldn't stop thinking about milkshakes all last night, and then you go and talk about them in your post. Shoot! Sounds like I need Freddie to be bringing (my NON-pregnant) self a milkshake at midnight! ;)

That book sounds awesome! Oh, you mean you don't need to spend hundreds on clothes they will outgrow in a week? Weird.

  7. Good Luck!! The one thing i find with parents to be or new parents is they buy WAYYY too much stuff, including diapers. My son didn't ever fit a newborn diaper so i am glad i waited till he was born to buy diapers. He also grew fast (20 pounds by 3.5 months) that i am glad i only bought 2 weeks worth of supplies at a time. I also am amazed at how many outfits people buy, then the baby doesn't wear them before they outgrow them and brand new outfits are pretty much given away. baby showers also bring so much you won't have to buy much at all! I am so excited to see your progression.

  8. I laughed at you not craving Mexican food :) We used to go to trivia every tuesday pre-baby and I always got my favorite meal at that restaurant. I COULD NOT eat it for the life of me while pregnant. It drove me up a wall!

  9. Short-term, bite-sized goals are totally the way to go! I love that that book exists. Great that you're not having any bizarre cravings too! When I used to work in an ice cream shop we had a guy who would come in a few times a week in the dead of winter for a quart of Italian ice for his pregnant wife. He never looked as excited about it as I'm imagining Jared is, hah! Happy New Year, you guys!

  11. OOk. I'm just getting started with my planner decorating, and feel so overwhelmed! One thing I'd love to see is a custom order for labels where the morning, afternoon, and evening lines are. Most people usually change those to categories; like for me, I'm using plans, work, to-do. I can't find any labels anywhere to cover these, so I'm using tape. And it looks a hot mess.

  12. Ah that book! How perfect for you guys! When I decide to birth a human in 5 years, will you remind me of it? ;) I'm going to want it.

  13. my only craving was ice cream and I'm not sure if it was a craving or I just used pregnancy as an excuse to eat it all the time lol

  14. Haha, I love that he wants to make milkshake runs at midnight for you :) My cravings were always breakfast food, but they were never too strong. The big cravings came postpartum. The entire time I was nursing, I NEEDED a cheeseburger and a shake every single day. I didn't get one every day, but I needed one for sure.

  15. I love y'all's Etsy shop so much! I just stocked up on a lot of new stickers the other day! I can't believe that you don't want to eat Mexican food! Would it be weird if I said that that's one of my biggest fears about being pregnant, that I'll have an aversion to my favorite food group, chips and salsa!

  23. the baby really doesn't need to be as expensive as everyone says! i've read lots of minimalist baby articles and whatnot, and i have a friend with 3 kids who is a bit of a minimalist. i'm not a minimalist, but it's good to know you don't need EVERYTHING on the babies r us registry list haha

  24. It REALLY doesn't have to be super expensive to have a baby! We've talked about this already, but I'm so passionate about it. Babies have survived for centuries without all the crazy things for sale today. I hope you write about how you save money on baby things. I'll be interested to hear!

  25. No Mexican??? That might be even more weird than any craving that you may have! I love that Jared got you that book! I think everyone acts like a baby is a money sucking bit but it doesn't have to be!

  26. Haha, Jared sounds like the one with the cravings. And I love the monthly goals idea - so much more manageable. I should give it a try...

  28. I'm only 3.5 months into having a baby, and I've already realized that we have way too much stuff. I wrestled with the idea of cloth diapers vs regular diapers for a long time finally deciding on regular ones (good idea - I'm too lazy to use cloth haha). I couponed and got a ton of diapers for pretty good prices...needless to say I went way overboard. We used all but about 5 or so newborn diapers so I was proud of that, but I just exchanged 9 (NINE!!!) packs and 1 box of size 1 for size 2 tonight. Also, we asked for and received a lot of swaddling blankets, wraps, etc, and my baby didn't like being swaddled from the very beginning...we were gifted a mamaroo which costs around $250 that she doesn't care for much...tons of clothes that were only worn a few times because she has so many...lots of breastfeeding supplies, and I wasn't able to do that successfully, and so.many.blankets. So yea, I would suggest waiting for your showers and even after baby is born before buying much of anything except necessities. There's just no way to know what the baby will like until he/she gets here. Our favorite things are zippered pajama sleepers, the pack n play that has the diaper changer and bouncy seat attachments (baby slept in the bouncy seat until around 8 weeks), tommee tippee bottles and pacis (we have 2 wubbanubs with the attached paci like they give in the hospital, but my baby prefers tommee tippee), a ball that has holes in it so they can hold onto it, and activity mats (one that has the kick piano and one that has a musical mobile attachment). Sorry for the novel, but if I could do the preparing for baby over again I totally would!!!

  29. You need to read Jenny McCarthy's book...it was hilarious...eye opening but hilarious!!! Also there is a book a friend gave Brad called Pregnancy Sucks for men.

I am so excited for you guys, are you finding out what you're having?

  30. No cravings yet?! Whaaaaat?! I'm sure they'll come & your hubby will get his wish of running out for grub at all hours of the night. Tee hee!

  32. I love how you're breaking your goals down month by month. We have some bigger goals for our business this year that I really need to do that for!

  33. I love that Jared wants you to have cravings. And WHAT?! No Mexican for you? Whoa Mama! Haha. But I was the same way with chicken. I wanted nothing to do with it for months! I really really want to see you soon and catch up face to face. Let's plan (even if it has to be weeks away). I want you on my calendar!
