The Weekend Before Christmas (What?!)

I don't remember how I ever blogged five times a week and actually came up with that many things to talk about! This week flew by in a flash and I realized, "Oh yeah- I haven't really blogged have I?" It's probably just normal this time of year for a lot of people so I'm not beating myself up over it ;) I already have a huge list of goals and ideas for the new year so hopefully that fresh start in January will bring extra motivation. Until then, here's a laundry list of what's been going on this week:

Jared and I seriously passed around that gross cold for a good two and a half weeks so I'm glad to report we are both finally over it and are healthy humans again. Whew!

We've changed our mind on vacation a dozen times and still haven't settled on anything. Originally we were thinking a big trip out west but with a little one on the way we've decided against it. We want to go somewhere new (preferably) but trying to keep it within driving distance. And if we are traveling in March, I'd like to head South to chase at least a little bit warmer temperatures.... Decisions, decisions!
And no, Punta Cana is not an option again. I wish!!!

We celebrated my Mom's birthday this week! We grabbed dinner with my parents and then they even loaded up some furniture from our guest-room-turning-nursery to take with them. They're the best :) Also- my dad is now down 34 pounds and counting since September, I'm so proud of him! I look forward to comparing last year's Christmas photos with this year's.
Christmas 2014

I'm practically counting down the minutes until my sister and her family get in town for the holidays! Cannot wait to spend some quality time with them and especially see my niece open gifts this year. At 2 1/2 I feel like that's the perfect age for Christmas excitement :)

The treats at the office this time of year are ridiculous. I guess everyone feels bad that we're stuck there so much in December so they bring in cookies and cupcakes and chocolates to pass the time?! Seriously- I must resist them!!

Hope everyone is having a good week! I'm looking forward to a fun weekend with Jared, finally. Our colds are gone and we have no obligations except dating each other :) I can't wait to spend the weekend before Christmas together doing whatever we want before the hustle and bustle of next week.

  1. Get used to being sick. I'll warn you now - once the little one is in daycare, they'll bring home germs all the time. I swear, Alexander is sick every other week. and we seem to get it worse than he does. Baby registry must haves for cold season: cool mist humidifier, natural vicks (put it on their feet then put socks over it, not near their face), boogie wipes, saline drops, nose frida, infant tylenol (and lots of it), and a vicks plugin (this has saved our sinuses this winter - http://www.amazon.com/Advanced-Soothing-Vapors-Waterless-Vaporizer/dp/B002KE5X7O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450442278&sr=8-1&keywords=vicks+plug+in).

  3. Glad you're feeling better! It's the worst when you continue to pass the sickness to each other. Seeing our nieces and nephew open up gifts is probably one of the best things about Christmas! They're just so excited about everything! Sweets are the worst this time of year, and I'm one of the culprits bringing them into the office! I just don't want them in my house... Enjoy the last weekend before Christmas!

  5. Ugh, being sick stinks, especially when you do the spouse swap of germs, ugh! Hopefully it runs away from the house soon! Treats are everywhere this time of year, I allow myself to indulge in a homemade treat, but say no to the store bought stuff. have a great weekend.

  14. Enjoy your time together!! And you are right about 2 1/2 being a great age for Christmas!! I am super excited to get back to KY to hang with my niece and nephew...they are both right in that age range! Also, if you haven't been...I might suggest Charleston, South Carolina. We went there last July (way too hot then!!) and really enjoyed the city. It was a lot of fun...and not super far from Myrtle Beach...or Savannah (though I haven't been there yet!). Just some thoughts! Have a great weekend...and a VERY Merry Christmas!

  18. That cold is definitely going around, on Wednesday I was held up on the sofa with a box of kleenex! I looked like Rudolph with my little red nose. Glad to hear that you are both feeling better. Christmas is always better with little ones:)

  21. Being sick while pregnant just isn't fair! I am glad you are on the mend though. ALSO, Kenley is in school and around other people and kids ALL THE TIME and has literally been sick 3 times in her life - so please don't stress over bringing some germ infested creature into the world. In my opinion, if you take good care of yourself and your kids your bodies can fight all those icky germs MOST of the time. And I really think there's something to be said about letting them be social and passed around from day 1. And please, please, please don't fill your registry with cold remedies. My view on registries to load it full of all the things you can't live without (crib, car seat, stroller, diapers, bottles, wipes, bibs, etc) don't be scared to put big ticket items on there either!!! You never know when people may go in on a bigger gift together and if you don't get it as a gift, you can use your registry completion discount on it at the end!

  25. When I'm pregnant (first trimester plus some weeks) I never have the motivation or creativity to blog and I always wonder how I ever manage it! But then it comes back :-)
