Weekend Happenings

Well, it happened. I got the weekend I desperately needed. So much rest and relaxation + friend time and a smidge of productivity. It doesn't get better than that! Lacey came down to visit Saturday evening and it was just what the doctor ordered. And as always, we failed at taking an updated picture together... these from JUNE are our most recent ones. We really should work on that ;)

I took her to our favorite mexican restaurant of all time, we did some Christmas shopping and ended the night with tons of girl talk and TV. Neither one of us had watched Once Upon a Time so we figured we'd give it a whirl. Well, four episodes later we both agreed it was awesome. I'll continue binge watching soon- does anyone else watch that show? I can't believe there are five seasons and it's taken me this long to get into it!!

Even though I missed seeing my Bengals on the field Sunday, it was a non-stressful day of football watching and catching up on emails, blogging and the Etsy shop. I also finally, FINALLY finished my 2013 photobook. If you've been reading awhile you know I do yearly photobooks (Shutterfly is my favorite) and man, they are a labor of love- but so worth it to have. Each year my books seem to get bigger and bigger; pretty sure I might need to split them into part one and part two each year. Up next is my Disney vacation book- they get their own separate one ;)

Other weekend happenings? Jared made another batch of his famous pulled pork, we started filling a couple of boxes for Operation Christmas Child through our church; stocked up on my favorite soaps since they were 5/$18; decided this year we won't be able to host our annual Friendsgiving :( A bit of a bummer but this month's schedule just isn't going to allow for it. However, I think maybe we'll make up for that and throw an ugly Christmas sweater party instead! Any reason to throw a good party!

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

  1. I've been wanting to watch Once Upon A Time but I wasn't sure if I would like it or not. I'll definitely have to try!

  2. We're running into the same problem with our annual Christmas party this year, everybody that usually goes is busy the exact opposite weekends. So I think that we'll have to settle for a dinner out and then a party in January!
The family yearbooks are the BEST way to keep track of everything that happens during the years! I totally agree that our books have gotten bigger as the years to by, and to try and make them not gigantic, I do the vacation books too! I'm really far behind too (only about half way done with 2014), but hopefully I'll be able to wrap them up soon with some of our weekend downtime!

  3. I watched the first couple seasons of Once Upon A Time and then stopped for some reason...I might just have to pick it back up! I'm glad you got the weekend you deserve! It must have felt awesome - especially knowing we're still undefeated! WOOO!!! Also, wouldn't an ugly Christmas sweater party be even MORE fun than Friendsgiving?!

  4. I binged watched this first bit of Once Upon A Time during a session break this summer but I never went back and got caught up with the series. It is totally addicting though! Figuring out the mystery and trying to put all the pieces together was so much fun!

  8. I used to watch OUAT & loved it. I stopped watching about the time I moved to Houston because I didn't have TV right away & just never caught up. I really need to binge on Netflix because it is a good show.

  15. sounds like the weekend was just what the doctor ordered. and if you can't do a friendsgiving, might as well do an ugly sweater party – hobby lobby has some great decor specifically for ugly sweater parties if you're in the market :)

  17. So basically I'm a "Oncer" as most fans call themselves! Haha seriously I LOVE this show. It's just such a fun and fresh take on some of the classic fairy tales. I HIGHLY recommend binge watching and getting 100% caught up because season 5 is ah-maz-ing! Haha! Sounds like you had an awesome weekend!!! :)

  18. I JUST finished binge watching Once Upon A Time - I had watched the first season when it first aired and then kind of forgot about it. Now I'm super sad that I've finished it and think I might start all over again at the first episode! haha

Ugly Christmas Sweater parties are the best! I'm hosting Wine Club in December and that's the theme I'm going with - I can't wait!

  21. I've had Once Upon a Time on my radar for a while. I might need to do a binge watch as well! If you can't do friendsgiving definitely do an ugly sweater party - they are THE BEST! Plus add in a white elephant exchange and you have the perfect holiday party.

  23. I watched Once Upon a Time this past weekend too for the first time and loved it! We are hosting our first Friendsgiving this Saturday, so I'm going to go back and read your Friendsgiving posts to get some last minute ideas! We decided on Friendsgiving since we won't be able to get everyone together for a Christmas party this year. We're hoping to have both (fingers crossed) next year, so I can't wait to see how y'all's Christmas party goes!!

Glad you had a good weekend! :)
