A Leisurely Drive

I feel like fall is just more fall-ish this year. The colors seem brighter, the air smells crisper (probably not a word) and I've just been enjoying this season to the fullest. I think I feel this way partially since I've spent more time outdoors this fall than I have in previous years. Between evening walks with Jared, sitting out at junior high football games and just spending more time out and about- I've really soaked in all the fall I can.

Last week Jared and I went out leaf-peeping :) I read that phrase somewhere once and thought it was hilarious, so I wanted to try it out. Regardless of what you call it, we went on a leisurely drive through the country roads that I love so much and just took in all the views. We pulled over in the middle of no where and shot from photos and just took the time to appreciate how gorgeous fall is. It'll be gone too soon, I know, so I'm glad we spent the afternoon enjoying it.

I always feel so refreshed when I take the time to just s-l-o-w down. I am guilty of feeling like I always need to go, go go! Or get a million things done in one day's time. But wow, how a relaxing day can do wonders for the mind and spirit. I hope I can continue with this mindset as the holiday season approaches.  Because sure, life will get chaotic but it's truly about enjoying the little things along the way.

  1. Ugh so pretty! i wish the leaves changed like that down here. If we're lucky they turn yellow but usually they just fall off. Fall in Cincy is so pretty! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  3. I say crisper all the time, haha. And I love the term leaf peeping, we might do some peeping this weekend on a hike. Your colors are so beautiful, glad you were able to slow down and enjoy fall.

  7. Leaf peeping is my favorite!!! I was getting really sad that our leaves weren't changing. Our tree in our backyard turned brown and fell of within a matter of days last week and I was like hey wait!!!! But finally this morning on my way in I started seeing all the colors!

  8. So beautiful! Unfortunately, we live in hot sunny Florida and this state doesn't believe in seasons. So I shall live vicariously through your pretty pictures and leaf peeping adventures lol!

  11. So beautiful! I'm so envious of people that live in places that actually get all four seasons because in Texas only certain parts of the state get to experience real fall, and unfortunately that doesn't include Houston. It's so awesome that y'all just took the day to drive around and experience the beautiful scenery and weather because like you said it'll be gone soon!

  13. Amen for taking time to just slow down and take in all the fall color. I've been trying to do so every night when I walk the dog. It makes me sad it will be gone so soon, every night could be the last night to enjoy before that big freeze or storm that sends us into winter. Here's hoping we get a few more weeks!

  14. So ridiculously gorgeous! It's so strange, but Indy isn't quite as FALLY as Ohio right now. I think we've been needing rain, so the colors aren't as vibrant.

  16. I really enjoyed driving around this weekend just taking in the colors. I was solo/the driver so I didn't get photos, but it was nice to just absorb it and marvel at the beauty.

I'm glad you guys did the same!

  18. Real comments to follow I promise. But first, I got all the way to the word crisper before sitting alone in my room I out loud said "crisper? "more crisp?" "the crispiest?" "Eh crisper seems legit" Also, there's no red squiggles so it must be a word!

Anywaaaay, I miss fall. I got to see fall colored leaves for the first time since 2011 when I was in Chicago this past weekend. Midwest fall is the best. Texas fall...meh.

  19. You're so right about slowing and about how it'll all be gone (and replaced by snow) before we know it. Pretty pretty! Glad you're having these moments of peace and joy :)
