Tailgate Tuesday {Link-Up!}

Today might be my most favorite day of the blogging year so far. I get to talk about football - not like I don't do that weekly anyway- but I get to read everyone else's posts on the topic too! Today it doesn't matter who you root for, we are all fans. :) If you've been to my blog even one time, it's pretty obvious I'm a Cincinnati Bengals fan through and through. But just in case you're new here, I figured I would clarify. While I love watching college football, the NFL has always been #1 in my heart.
Tailgate Tuesday
I remember my very first Bengals game like it was just last week! It was September 2006 and my good friend had gotten free tickets from her dad's business for a game. And not just any game- a division rivalry against the Browns! It was the Carson Palmer/Chad Johnson (not yet OchoCinco) days and I was out of my mind excited despite how insanely hot it was that afternoon. Us poor college kids couldn't afford tickets normally.
Hello, 19-year-old Erin!

The next time I'd get to a Bengals game wouldn't be until December of 2008. It was Jared and I's first game together and because of how awful the season was going, we found dirt-cheap tickets! Our guys beat up on the Kansas City Chiefs and we loved every frozen part of it.

Now my Sundays are spent working at the stadium, and it's hard to believe this will be seventh season with the team. Even though my job is often a thankless and unrecognized one, it still feels pretty cool to be part of an NFL team. One of only 32 professional football teams in the world! I remember being at those games years ago and saying, "Wow, I wanna work here one day!" It's pretty incredible to see how much has changed in the last decade.

When the team's away and I'm not working? You can bet I'm packing my house full of people and serving up Skyline Chili Dip, Crack Dip and any other food I think will help our nerves as we scream and celebrate with some of the biggest fans I know. There's nothing like a full-house of diehard fans.

WHODEY, forever!
and PS- my friends over at Sweet Little Ones are joining in the fun today with their Tuesday Talk :)

  1. Funny enough I'm the opposite - I'll watch NFL, but college football has my heart! I've actually only ever been to one pro game....but Florida Football...well that's another story! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  2. Thanks so much for hosting this! I love finding new football lovin' gals! And I love your first football game memories up there. That pic of you and your hubby is so cute!

    Here's my first Notre Dame game memory: It was the home opener vs. Michigan State in 2005. Our now ex-coach Charlie Weis's first home game. Brady Quinn and Jeff Samardzija were playing then! It was an exciting game...but we lost in overtime... However, my now husband and I were in the student section (we were college seniors and had just started dating) and had a blast! I also got hoisted up for pushups a couple times! It was so fun!

    I've never been to an NFL game, but they sound like so much fun too! Thanks again for hosting, Erin!

    P.S. You have to get those Toms you posted the other day - they are too perfect! Now, I need sparkly gold ones ;) haha

  3. I will admit that I have never been to an NFL game. College football, however? Well Beaver Stadium was my home every fall Saturday for four years and I still never miss watching or listening to a game! Just yesterday I was updating my planner and put every Penn State game in there - now I'm getting excited! :)

  4. That's so awesome that you could see yourself working for the Bengals one day and that now you are! I have to admit that I didn't really get into pro ball until a couple of years ago when I started playing fantasy, but I've been in love with college ball for years! Thanks for hosting this linkup! Any chance to talk about football is awesome!

  5. I hate that I totally missed this link up today because I'm an SEC girl at heart! But I DO plan to participate in the future! Is this a weekly linkup? Also, I'm a Bama fan, and I think our ex-QB, AJ McCarron, is y'alls QB. Now, I could be wrong about this, but I know he now plays for one of those orange, Northern teams, but the name escapes me at the moment. If I do have the right team, y'all now have one helluva QB! Good luck this season!

  7. I am so so SO jealous you work for the Bengals. If I still lived in Cincy that would be my dream job for sure. I try to go to a game any time they're in FL. I'm so sad my only option this year is going to be at a preseason game but I'm hoping I'll get to go! Oh, you look exactly the same as you did when you were 19! Not fair! ;)

  8. So awesome you get to work for the team you love! I always wanted to work for the Penguins, but after working for a year with a minor league hockey team, I realized that the work took the fun out of the sport I loved so much. So, plans changed a bit. Not much else to say besides the obvious: WHO-DEY?!
