National Girlfriends Day

Happy AUGUST! How crazy is that to say?! I don't post on Saturday's a lot, but in honor of it being National Girlfriend's Day I decided to share a quick post. After all, any day with something to celebrate is a great day, indeed! ;)

My closest friend and I have known each other for 16 years now. Yes, I realize that makes me feel/sound old, but it's amazing to have a gal pal that's been through life's ups and downs with me. We went through the awkward middle school years, we cried together at graduation, visited each other at college, celebrated in each other's weddings and just continue to do life together.

Recently we've been keeping each other accountable on health-related topics and I have to say, I'm loving it. It's so easy to let crappy eating habits become the norm, or forget to make time for exercise or to see our doctor's when something odd is going on. We use MyFitnessPal to check in on each other and try to do something active together when we meet up, instead of just stuffing our faces with mexican food ;)

Maybe it's just me getting older, but I'm taking my health and my friends/family's health a lot more seriously these days. I want these people in my life for a long time so you best believe I'll be helping and encouraging in any way I can- and I hope they'll do the same for me.

This info-graphic by Oscar health insurance company is so eye-opening. They're an insurance company looking to empower their members to be proactive about their health, through different incentives (like earning up to $240 a year by reaching daily step goals with a Misfit tracker!) right through their app. If you're in the area and want to learn more look at their health insurance plans in New Jersey and New York. Take care of you and your girlfriends and celebrate them today, and every day! :)

*Oscar asked me to help spread the word, but I was not compensated for my time or post. Just passionate about healthy living! :)

  1. I actually have a similar chart on health as we age that I follow pretty religiously. Found your blog from Sweet Little Ones mentioning your Tailgate Tuesday. I will be giving it a shout out on my blog on Tuesday Talk as I'm one of the co-host. See you at the game! :)

  2. Isn't it special to have friends that have walked through many stages of life with you? I feel so lucky to have had the same best friend since 4th grade! That is a very helpful graphic and it's definitely time to start taking health more seriously!

Thanks SO much for taking the time to read and comment on my blog! I read each one and love to respond and chat with you! :)
