My First barre3 Class

Until I got an email about a charity fitness event happening at the stadium, I had no clue what barre3 was. I'd heard of barre classes in general but didn't realize there were so many varieties! barre3 is described as "where ballet barre meets yoga and pilates."

Last night I not only got to try out barre3 for the first time, but I also did it to raise money for charity AND class was held at my favorite place in the world. We partnered with the American Heart Association and about 50 of us ladies participated. I'll admit I was nervous to join in since I'd never tried it before, but I figured what the heck?! Even if I was horribly uncoordinated I'd give it a go. It would be a workout no matter what.
And a workout IT WAS. Oh my goodness. I was dripping with sweat and my legs were shaking by the time the hour session was up. But you know what? I loved it! The instructors were really awesome and helpful with a lot of us newbies. It felt good to get out of my comfort zone and try something new. Since I decided I wasn't a runner, it's been fun to try new things and have fun so this is just another cool activity to add to my list of ways to stay fit.

I left feeling both relaxed and energized at the same time, oddly enough. Lots of challenging moves, but lots of good stretches that just felt great, too. The classes are pretty pricey so I don't think it's something I'll be jumping into right away- but hellooooo free youtube videos that will kick my butt just as good! ;)

Any barre3 fans out there??

  1. That so awesome that the class was held at the stadium, and that it was helping a good cause. I've never tried a class either, but I've heard such good things about them!

  4. What a great way to try a new class! I'm glad you enjoyed it but sad that the price is preventing you from jumping into it on a more regular basis.

  7. I saw your Instagram and thought it looked so cool! I took barre classes when I lived in Louisville but they don't have them where I am now and I miss them!

  8. I've gotten a few pure barre memberships and completely loved them. The price tag was just too much to continue though and I felt guilty if I didn't go at least 4-5 times a week! Such a great workout though and I was definitely seeing results!

  9. How fun!!! There is a neighborhood bar studio a block away from my office. I was so excited when I found out it was coming because I wanted to sign up but the prices kept me away. Totally awesome to do for charity...not so much for a monthly expense. Let me know if you find some good youtube videos!

  11. The barre stuff is coming to STL and I'm thinking about trying it out...but I'm short so if it includes an actual ballet bar, my leg may not reach it, hahaha ;)

  20. I love booty barre classes, but would like to try the other options out there as well! How much was/is the class? That is the nice thing about living in a smaller/cheaper town. Classes here are only $5 a piece and you can buy savings cards as well. Granted I haven't been to a class in months! Actually almost a year! YIKES! This move must get completed soon so I can get back to working out!
