My Family is Cooler Than Me

I mentioned it briefly that Jared did a Tough Mudder race last weekend with a big group of his coworkers. This was his second one and the pictures are just too great not to share. I don't think anyone will ever convince me to do a race like this... electroshock therapy? carrying logs? freezing cold ice bath? No, thank you. It takes a crazy, brave soul to do something like and Jared champed it. I've told him about a thousand times how cool it is that he does this.

Other cool family members? My grandma, mom & one of my mom's cousins. They left Ohio last weekend to roadtrip all the way out to New Mexico. OH to NM. In a car. Did you guys catch that? They are some crazy ladies and I just love that they are doing this. My mom has a lot of family out there that they haven't seen in years and it was one of those "why not?" things that they just went for. My sweet grandma is 81 and still roadtripping like a champ- I hope I'm half as cool as she is when I'm that age. I've been enjoying their selfie updates along the way and can't wait for them to get back so I can hear all about it.

Now if you need me, I'll be over here either a) playing Candy Crush or b) reading a book. Boy, what an exciting life I lead ;) I hope everyone enjoys a long weekend, whether you're "cool" like my family or not...like me! I want to know- Who's the coolest person in your family??

  1. My son is definitely cooler than me. He spent yesterday (his 12th birthday) in New York City. Previous birthdays have been spent in Yellowstone, Disney World, Branson and Minneapolis at a Twins/Royals game just to name a few. I spent his 12th birthday at work. Being a grown up with responsibilities is no fun sometimes.
P.S. I love the pics of your mom's road trip!!

  2. Haha I always say my parents are cooler than me because they always get the newest technology before I do and they're always out camping, off-roading or skiing but I can't do any of those things in Florida! Dang, OH to NM in a car... no thank you. I did OH to FL and that was miserable. My parents did FL to NM though, definitely never making that drive!

  4. I cannot imagine doing that Tough Mudder. No, thank you. I love that your family is doing a roat trip. I love road trips! I'd have to say my Grandma is definitely the coolest. She is always doing something fun, whether it be traveling with her brother and sister in law, or working on a project at home.

  8. You totally crack me up! I have friends, but no family that participates in the Tough Mudder and the like and I have no idea how they do it. A good workout - yes, torturing yourself - no thank you! lol! And that is awesome that your grandma still travels like that!
I am most definitely not cool. lol! My dad is by far the coolest in my book. He still goes to concerts all the time, lots of festivals, takes his motorcycle on trips around the Great Lakes, and is my go-to handy guy. My grandma is pretty cool too for 82. She goes, goes, goes more than most in their 20's! Love it!

  9. Haha you do cool things too! I don't think I could ever do Tough Mudder. The very first 5k I ever did was the Warrior Dash & that's about as intense as I'm gonna get. I love that your grandma is still road trippin!

  10. Hahaha...you do have a pretty cool family! I would never in a million years do the Tough Mudder, but I would LOVE to road trip across the country like that. I've always wanted to, but can't seem to piece together enough time. My sister moved to Arizona last year, so I think that might be the motivation I needed. My dad, sister, and brother all did it last year! I'm definitely say my dad is the coolest person in my family. He used to do Iron Man competitions, marathons, cave diving, and climbed Mt. McKinley. Crazy guy.

  11. I don't think I could do a tough mudder either so you are not alone! I definitely would like to still be road tripping when I am 81 ha! My Grandma is definitely the coolest person she owns a campervan at 86 and still goes from place to place travelling!

  17. My grandma is pretty cool...baking things like cinnamon rolls from scratch. And lets not forget the donuts she also makes from scratch. Excuse me while I mop up my drool. :)

  18. I've wanted to do one of those races but ultimately I have this weird thing that I hate my hands being dirty so....it's out of the question. haha I don't mind the rest of my body but my hands...nope. Hope you have a great July 4th.
