June Goals

Happy Monday, everyone! I'm back from an incredible week in Hilton Head and will have plenty of pictures to share tomorrow, but I'm still easing back into normal life again. In the past on this blog, I've done monthly goals/updates and it's really helped me stay motivated to always be bettering myself in some way. I took some time off from sharing those goals on this blog after a "slump" I fell into, but I thought what better way to kick off June and the summer months than with a few new goals.

1. Cut the Sugar! I've let the bad habits creep up again so I'm determined to realllly pay attention to my sugar-intake this month. No candy (my weakness) and no picking up a pop/energy drink when I need a boost. I'm determined to quit pop all together, starting today. It's on my 30 before 30 list to give it up for 60 days because I know if I can give it up that long that the habit will be gone! (I hope).

2. Get back to the gym. Obviously my hip injury sidelined for me a good 6-8 weeks from doing much of anything, so I'm glad I'm almost in the clear. I have an appointment with my doctor after work today to talk physical therapy and what kinda stuff I'll be allowed to do right away, what I need to wait on, etc. Either way, I'm almost off crutches and can get back to the gym to do some upper-body workouts again, even if my legs still need a break from running/impact workouts.

3. I bet you guys never thought this would be a on goals list- Photo Books!! They are never-ending but I love making them and having them in my home. I was really rollin' on them before things sucked in April. I got off track for awhile but I'm back at it again- little by little. This month I'd like to finish my 2013 book and my DisneyWorld book. Vacations that awesome get their own book :)

4. Landscape our yard. This was another item that got put on hold a little bit due to the hip injury- I couldn't handle Jared doing this ALL on his own but now I'm ready. We've been doing our research and have a preliminary list of all the stuff we need and we're READY. I'm looking forward to really revamping out yard and making it our own finally.

5. Make time for personal goals. After this relaxing vacation I truly feel invigorated and ready to tackle a lot of goals and projects. I think my week away from the job did wonders for me and I want to cling to that feeling and really press forward. Jared and I listened to a lot of motivational podcasts on our roadtrip and there are words I can't get out of my mind. Bring it on, June- I'm coming for ya!
Other things to accomplish this month?
 - Celebrate my bestie's birthday (Hi, Lacey!)
 - Pull off our 10-year class reunion
 - Keep on decluttering and take more stuff to Goodwill
 - Get our guest room prepped for a college friend's visit
 - Rock this blog and actually stay on top of my editorial calendar!

Happy June! :)

  1. Smart to bring back the goals list... always so hard to get back into the swing of things after a great vacation! (Glad to hear it was great though.) And Whole30 is definitely a great start to 30 days of no sugar :)

  2. Awesome goals! I know you're excited to be able to get back to the gym! Cutting the sugar sounds like a great idea, I am SO bad about eating too much sugar!

  3. Good luck with the pop! I cut it out once before for almost 3 months and then I started allowing myself to have it only when eating out and then as a special treat and now it's crept its way back into my life on a pretty regular basis. I don't have it every day but definitely drink it 5 times a week. I'm trying to phase it out with water and a splash of lime since and carbonated water for more of a treat. It's sort of working, but sometimes I just want a really cold glass of coke!

  5. Who do you use for your photo books? I don't know if it's just me but I get so overwhelmed when making them. I would love to do one for Connor for 1 year, 2 year and so on but Shutterfly makes me scream.

  6. Breaking goals up with the month is definitely a great way to stay on track. I think I need to bring them back too. Good luck with cutting out the soda, I know you can do it :)!

I was back in Cincy this weekend for the Summer fair and it was so much fun. One day we will get our blate :)!

  11. Awesome goals! I do the photobooks too and I think what helps is to buy something on line at groupon or something like that that has an actual deadline of when you have to be finished, nothing keeps you motivated like potentially losing out on a good deal :) Currently I bought one from Photobook America and I have 15 days to finish my book! I can do this!

  16. I am lazy and sluggish in the summer. I rely on my seasonal goal lists for help with that!

Good ones here! I'm with you on the sugars. Gotta stop. At least on a daily basis. They are treats, not real life.

  17. Good luck with all your goals! A vacation from regular life always gets me rejuvenated, too!! Glad you had a great trip!! Any suggestions on the most helpful/beneficial/motivating podcast? Would love to give it a listen :)

  18. I'm working on cutting the sugar this week, too--vacation is a messy thing when it comes to eating healthy!

  19. I know we've talked about this before, but I really don't think I could 100% give up soda! I get wicked headaches when I go longer than a day without it. I've been trying to cut back lately and have had some success, so I'm counting that as a step in the right direction! I'm pumped FOR YOU to be off the crutches - look out world, she's back! Can't wait to see/read more about your trip! I need to live vicariously a bit, please.

  21. I need to get back on monthly goals! I think if you cut out soda for 2 months you definitely won't crave it as much! Every now and then I enjoy one but then can go months without another one. I hope your hip is healing great! Can't wait to see your yard all pretty :)

  25. I was doing monthly goals earlier this year and then some how May slipped away from me and now we're already 2 days into June and I don't have any goals set. Setting (and blogging!) my June goals is high on my to-do list. Getting back into the gym is going to be on my goal list as well. I hope the visit with your doctor went well and you don't have to take it easy for too much longer. I wasn't sidelined with an injury but just slacked off and stopped really trying to get to Body Pump once a week or hit the gym any other days of the week. This month I'm thinking I'm going to push myself to attend Body Pump twice a week and try out a new class!

  26. Good luck with the pop goal! Can I just say that I love that you call it pop, too?! I very rarely drink it, and I promise you, if you can withhold for long enough, you start to not crave it...and when you do give in, it doesn't taste near as good as you think it will. At least that is my experience...unless its with popcorn in the movie theater. Then it is just as amazing as you remember!

  27. Where do you order your photo books from? I need to start making them again!
