We Throw a Good Party

I know I mentioned it last week, but seriously... today should be a holiday across the U.S. Bosses everyone know that we all stayed up way too late last night watching the Super Bowl and we're likely not going to be productive until after lunch today, so why bother? ;) It's nice to dream, isn't it?
We had a group of friends and family over for the game which I'd been looking forward to for awhile. Once our Bengals lost, there were no more Sunday football parties so it was nice to go out with a bang, but also not care about the outcome of the game too much. I tried not to go completely overboard with food, but that's typically impossible for me. For some reason I think ten people coming over to watch a football game actually means I'm FEEDING a football team. I'm not upset about leftovers though.

Thanks to affordable snacks from CVS/Pharmacy we stocked up on all the game-time essentials like nuts, trail mix, chips, pretzels, popcorn, beef jerky and sparkling fruit water to wash it all down. Jared and I are big almond-eaters and I am officially hooked on the Gold Emblem Buffalo Almonds. Holy YUM! I think their soft baked chocolate chip cookies were the first to disappear though- I even got asked if they were homemade! I wish I could have said yes!

Our Bingo boards were a big hit and we had small prizes for the first 3 guests to yell BINGO! Our cousin Calena had the closest game score prediction so she won a fun prize as well at the end of the night.

Dillan with his Bacon Soda prize, Joe intently playing some Bingo and of course the guest of honor- Katy Perry ;)

I won't lie... I am a huge football fan and love the Super Bowl every year, no matter who's playing- but Katy Perry was ROCKING IT last night! One of my favorite halftime shows in a long while. Now where can I get one of those lions like the one she rode in on? ;)

I wore the only items I have in Seahawk green... but unfortunately it didn't work. Can we all just agree that the ending of the game was one of the worst/anti-climactic/dumb endings in football?! All of us were on the edge of our seats waiting to see how things would pan out and then one play later, everyone was putting their coats on. What a weird way for the Super Bowl to end. Sorry, Seahawk fans... I can imagine the pain!

Did anyone use my Bingo cards at their party? What did everyone think of the commercials this year?

I’m proud to partner with CVS/pharmacy as a Gold Emblem Super Bowl Party Host. I am being sponsored to help lead this campaign, but all opinions expressed are my own, and all  product claims or program details shared should be verified at CVS.com or with the appropriate  manufacturers.

  3. I'm not a huge NFL football fan (I know, I know) but I did enjoy watching the game last night! It kept my attention the entire time which is a good thing. :) Your party looks awesome!

  4. What a fun party! I'm pretty sure 90% of the Super Bowl parties in Chicago were cancelled due to snow, and now today some businesses and the schools are closed, so we have your wish of a long weekend happening here :-)

  6. I totally agree that today should be a holiday! We were rooting for the Seahawks too, such a heartbreaker at the end! But it looks like y'all had a great party!

  7. Your spread looks fabulous!!! I want all of the snacky things. I was pulling for the Seahawks too but it happens. I was really disappointed in the commercials this year.

  11. You are the hostess with the mostest! I don't even like football but that sounds like a Super Bowl party I'd be excited about attending ;)

  12. This all looks amazing! The Bingo cards were a huge hit at my place, so thanks again! Maybe I'm weird, but I actually liked the end of the game! It was cool to see an unknown rookie player make such a huge play and it was also fascinating to see how important play calling is...I'm so over the Pats and I really don't like the Seahawks, either...so I just loved seeing the fates switch so quickly. I can't imagine how it would feel to be a Seattle fan, though. Oh wait, yes I can. I'm a Bengals fan.

  13. I LOVE the bingo card idea! We normally do a super bowl party but just weren't feeling it this year - but I am definitely remembering it for next year! And I'm super jealous of all your snacks - I want to eat all of them! ALL OF THEM!

  14. what a fun party! And yes to feeding way to many people, I figure I would rather have left overs then having hungry people :) I wanted to throw a big party, but Mr. said he wanted to actually watch the game and not have a bunch of kids running around, so we just had my family over, it was really nice though, and we had good food, yum!

  18. I used the Bingo cards and my family had a blast! It was such a fun idea. We all got super competitive but I won the first game so I am calling myself the overall winner. After a couple of "drinks" people really got into the game haha.

  20. Bacon soda sounds SO gross! Did you try it? I think the Super Bowl should be on a Sat so that we can all crash the next day!

  21. You are the best hostess ever! I can just imagine you getting it all prepped and ready! So glad you had friends and family to share the night with but I agree about the ending. Not the best.

  22. That ending was horrible, HORRIBLE! We're still in disbelief. I'm a colts fan at heart, so I wasn't rooting for any team in particular, but it definitely could of been either teams game. Seahawks will never live that ending down.

  25. What a fun party, minus the fact you were cheering for the Seahawks! lol! Since we can't seem to escape the sickness that is winter, the three of us stayed at home together with Chipotle and cookies ;)

  28. How fun! I want to come play bingo next year! haha

  29. You know that I don't follow american football but I was rooting for the Seahawks because I don't like Gisele Bundchen! LOL The way the game ended was similar to the way the Grey Cup ended in 2009 for my team so I know how the Seahawk fans were feeling. When the Riders make it to the Grey Cup next year I'll be coming back to this post for some party inspiration!

  31. I'm the same way with making food for a party. I called my mom the morning of the Super Bowl, I had made my dip the night before, & was like "mom! I don't know if I made enough! I know I'm not the only one bringing stuff & I don't know how many people will be there but I made 3 cups of dip...should I make more food? I should make more food." Luckily I listened to my voice of reason (my mother) & didn't make more. There was SO much food that everyone had leftovers.

  32. We loved the Bingo cards! Things got a little intense because it was decided that the loser has to do all the laundry for the month. Luckily I won! I brought some in for the kids at work, too (a group home) and they had a blast!
