On Fridays We Blog in Lists

I've been a little MIA this week...again. It's funny, once I get one thing in life in order, I forget about another. For instance, Jared and I kinda' rocked this week getting to the gym, cooking healthy meals and getting stuff done around the house. However, that means I didn't have enough time for blogging or sleeping. There's no way any human can get everything done that they need to in one day. I refuse to believe it! Wake up, work, hit the gym, shower, come home, make dinner, clean up from dinner, take care of other odds and ends around the house... and BAM! It's 8:30 or 9 already. By that point I just want to spend some quality time with Jared and most nights, I do!

So another blabbering about nothing. I finally showed up today so here are five awesome things on this Friday:

This delicious turkey chili with sweet potatoes I made this week. It cooked so deliciously in the crockpot and it's got a kick to it which we loved! Perfect for these ridiculously cold days we're having. I just checked-- it's only going to get up to 18° tomorrow, brrr!
This wasn't cooked yet- I, of course, forgot to take a picture of the final product.

Speaking of cold temperatures, Jared and I have been obsessing over vacation ideas for this year. Usually we have our travels planned out pretty far in advance, but this year has been a little bit different. We're doing a couple long weekends away, but still keep longing for that week-long beach trip together. We're getting closer and closer to hitting "BOOK IT" and I can't wait!

My friend Lacey and I were able to grab dinner this week and catch up. I know I've probably said this before, but I don't have a ton of close friends. Lacey is that person who I can tell anything in the world to and never feel judged or feel stupid. In fact, she'll probably feel the same way I'm feeling ;) It's so nice to have a friend I can say that I've known for over 15 years!! She's truly my lifelong friend.

A small part of me got excited about baseball this week. I know, I know- it's February. But once football is over I need SOMETHING to look forward to in the sports world. I'm crossing my fingers to get to opening day one of these days, but regardless, I'm ready for some hot dates at the ballpark.

It's Valentine's Day weekend, of course! Jared won at life last year and I have no doubt he'll be adorable and creative again this year. We're all about staying in as opposed to hitting up an overcrowded restaurant these days and I'm looking forward to a fun night in with my man :)
Throwback to our first Valentine's Day together in 2008... On campus headed to a basketball game.

  1. Yay for a fun night in this weekend. And for planning beach vacations! It's so great to have that to look forward to...mine's almost here :) Also, turkey chili with sweet potatoes is my new favorite thing, but I need to switch to the crockpot version! Duh, so much easier. Have a great weekend!

  3. That chili sounds so interesting! I'm dying to try it but I don't know if Eric would be on board. You really, really loved it?
Ah! I'm dying to get a week at the beach! Hopefully I can make even just a weekend happen this year!
Also, 18 degrees? Come visit in AZ! The high today is 82. It's crazy how quickly I've forgotten that the rest of the country is still experiencing winter!
You and Jared are the cutest! Love your love!

  4. There are just not enough hours in the day!! We are SO close to booking our HONEYMOON and I could die every time I think about being somewhere tropical with my HUSBAND!! I can't believe it's been a year since Jared did that for you!!!!! I feel like it was just yesterday that I remember reading that lol time is flying by!! Definitely one of the best posts I've ever read though!! :) Have a fun weekend!! :)

  9. Oh my gosh, I so agree on getting everything done, there are just not enough hours in the day sometimes! Usually if I am focusing hard on one thing the other thing suffers! Just have to try and make sure I am mostly focusing on the things that matter most. That's awesome that you got to get together with your friend! I am the same, I only have a very few close friends and one of them is my BFF that I have known my whole life! Those relationships are priceless!

  11. Some weeks, there just aren't enough hours in the day!

  12. I also totally refuse to believe it's possible for any human to get everything done in a 24-hour period. I feel like I have ample evidence to back up that claim!
I'm dreaming about vacation too...I have no idea what my schedule will be like this summer and when or if I'll even have an opportunity to go on one and it's driving me crazy! I want to book something like, yesterday.
Hope you guys have a great weekend!

  13. Chris and I like to stay in for vday too. I always make homemade lasagna and we have a chill night. Nothing sounds worse to me than an overcrowded overpriced restaurant! And I neeeeed a vacation! We haven't been away since the 4th of July last year. We are thinking about doing a long weekend on the Gulf next month perhaps. Hope you guys have a great weekend!!!

  14. Hope you guys have a great Valentine's Day! Way to go on your working out and eating healthy this week. You're such an inspiration! :)

  15. I totally agree about the not getting everything done - I feel like there is no possible way I can do absolutely everything plus work and sleep too. I am always dreaming about vacation - it's been so long since I've been on a beach vacation though! Hope you all have a lovely Valentine's day!

  16. I completely agree. It's impossible to hit every line on the checklist. Something always has to come in last place, and if your health is coming in first, it's acceptable that your blog takes a hit :) Great job on that this week! Hope you have an awesome weekend :)

  17. It is hard to do it all! Some days/weeks you just have to take a break :) I feel like life has been complete chaos lately! Thankfully we booked our beach vacation already so I can daydream :) Have a great weekend Erin!

  21. I canNOT wait for baseball! We will actually be in Cincy (we should grab coffee or something!) the week of opening day. John said it's nearly impossible to get tickets. I'm going to hope a miracle happens!

  22. I hear ya on cold weather. It's supposed to be -15 here this week. That is insane!
I'm ready for a beach trip myself
Hope you all had a great Valentine's Day

  23. I'm with you on the time suck. I can't imagine how MOMS find time to blog and do everything else! It seriously blows my mind. I suppose it's about priorities, but like you, my priority is spending a few hours with Wheat every night! That chili looks absolutely delicious and I love me some sweet potatoes! I'm ready for baseball, too. I'm a hockey girl, but basketball never cuts it for me this time of year. Hope you had a wonderful weekend and Valentine's Day!
