A Lot of Little Thoughts

Sometimes I feel like I have a lot of little things to say, instead a lot of things to say about one thing. Does that even make sense? I feel like I just want to ramble today about all the different things rattling around in my brain, and that's okay isn't it? Every once in awhile you just need to hammer it out like the LiveJournal days and pretend you're writing for yourself. But then go back and edit because this is the internet after all.

I had one of the best runs of my life this week, I'm pretty sure. On a treadmill, nonetheless. I can handle a little cold, but when it's going to be a high of 7? Yeah, I'm going to be indoors. Something just came over me and I focused, zoned everything else out and ran really hard. It felt good to push myself and realize how far I've come.

Foam rolling officially rocks. Last year when I hurt my hip, a ton of my awesome bloggy-runner friends told me I needed one, so I asked for one for Christmas, and it's truly my new BFF. I can really tell a difference in how everything feels! I feel like my muscles recover a lot quicker than they used to- all thanks to rolling! So thank you EVERYONE who suggested I get one. Looking specifically at you Tracy and Becky!

It's officially that stage in life where my weekend plans consist of baby showers. I went to one in January (for twins, at that!), we had one yesterday at work for a girl who is due any day now and I'm going to another tomorrow for a sweet friend of mine. Bring on the Spring babies! (For friends... not me)

The NFL Scouting Combine is going on and I not-so-strangely really love following along. Jared and I considered trying to get over there and get viewing passes, but we were a little too last minute by the time we thought of it. More than 300 top-class athletes working to get drafted... my football heart could explode with excitement. In my world, it's always football season: Combine in February, the schedule release and the draft in April and May, before you know it rookies are reporting and training camp is underway. I love it!!

I'm trying to do some end-of-the-season boot shopping. Yes, I am very much looking forward to the days of flip-flops ahead, but my brown boots have officially bit the dust. I wore them for the last time over the weekend... and as I felt the snow/cold seeping into my sock, I realized it was time to shop ;) Now to find the perfect pair at hopefully a great discount!

Today we're having a going-away party after work for my closest work buddy, which is sad, but she got a great opportunity she couldn't pass up. Luckily she'll still be in the area and she already told me I'll have to start actually taking lunch breaks so we could stay in touch. It's crazy to think she and I have worked together for over 5 years now-- she's actually the one who snuck around and got photos of our engagement.

I think my brain has officially been unloaded. Props to anyone who actually read this entirely random post. Happy Weekend!!

  5. Rambling posts are my absolute favorite. If you hadn't already noticed ;)

I need new brown boots too for the same reason! I wore mine the other day, and my socks were soaking wet after walking through an inch of snow. I was so upset.

  7. Way to go on your run! I have just been introduced to the wonders of foam rolling by my chiropractor and I am in love! Yay for football stuff! My husband and I always go through withdrawals about this time of year so it's good to hear about anything football related!

  8. Ahhh, football. I miss it. But in the mean time, I'm going to try to get back into watching Nascar for Jeff Gordon's final season & then hopefully watch some winning by the Brewers (I'm trying to stay upbeat about my baseball team - ha!).

  9. I'd love to know more about your thoughts on the foam roller! I've been seriously looking into getting one. Is it practical for someone just starting to work out? My legs feel very tight lately as I work towards my 5K goals.

  13. Lots of little thoughts to share is why my weekly Thursday Thoughts post is a fixture in my blog rotation. My brain shoots off whatever and a lot of times none of it is inter-related. LOL So I understand.

Great job on your run! Your half is coming up soon!

  14. My post today is a lot like this one. A little bit of everything! Treadmill running is hard but I swear that if you can do it on a treadmill you can totally rock it out on the open road.

  20. I am with you on the foam roller. It hurts sooo good. I am training for a 10 mile race and a half marathon in June and then my first marathon (eeeekkkk) in October so I have a feeling the foam roller will become my favorite buddy, too. Have a great weekend!

  26. My thoughts are rarely cohesive enough for a full-fledged blog post. Haha...I think most of my posts are some kind of hodgepodge of random thoughts. I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets excited about the combine! I got to cover it a couple years ago for USA Football (which was amazing!) and I wanted to go again this year, but we had plans in Columbus. BOO! I hope they work out a long-term deal with Lucas Oil to host it here forever!

  27. I've heard lots of mixed things about foam rolling. I think I need to try for myself to decide. Congrats on your big run! I just love your excited about football! It's so cute and makes me excited thinking about football season!!

  28. I wish I could have an awesome run on a treadmill! I get so bored on there after like 5 min that I never get past that. And also I'm SLOW on treadmills - I think I have a pretty intense fear of falling and looking like an idiot!
