Super Bowl Party Ideas

Obviously this week wouldn't be complete without some love for the Super Bowl happening this Sunday. Am I still mourning my team's loss in the playoffs? Absolutely. But that doesn't mean I can't still have friends over for food, fun and football. Sometimes, I wonder if I should change my blog name to that instead... gosh, I enjoy food!

Jared and I are still frugal people for the most part, and it doesn't have to cost a lot of money to have a lot of fun. I printed out the team's logos for the game and cut them out. Each guest can pick who they think will win, write a score prediction and their name and hang it up on a fun, simple poster. The person with the closest prediction gets a small prize at the end of the night. It doesn't have to be much, even a $5 giftcard, a few goodies from the Dollar Store or a box of cookies can be a fun take-home for anyone!

I also made up Bingo cards for this year- which by the way, took entirely too long ;) You lucky ducks can scroll down to the bottom of the post to download them for your own parties! They aren't perfect, but they get the job done. I made 10 varieties of the card and guests can either use snacks like trail mix or almonds to cover their squares throughout the game, or mark them off with a pen if they're too busy chowing down to save any for game pieces.

I mixed in a fair amount of commercials to look for, game-related calls and even celebrity sightings. This way if you have guests that aren't as into the game as others, it gives them a reason to watch and participate.

I'm keeping the food simple- lots of finger foods and snacks that can be put out in bowls throughout our house. In a tri-level home, it's inevitable that there will be people in different areas of the house all night long so it's nice to have simple food that can be snacked on anywhere.
We'll have a both salty and sweet snacks which I think is a winning combination ;) Gold Emblem Buttered Flavored Popcorn and Pretzel Sticks plus Soft Baked Chocolate Chip Cookies and Sparkling Fruit Water. If you're looking for lots of tasty treats and don't want to spend a fortune, CVS/pharmacy is the place to shop. Did you know they have more than 250 products in their Gold Emblem line? Well, you do now! Get to one of the 7,800 locations across the U.S., stock up on the goodies (almost all under $5) and print those Bingo cards!

  3. I think I share your feelings in being devastated that your team lost in the playoffs...especially to the whole Deflategate Deal. Ugh. I wish I had the Super Bowl spirit I usually do, since my 2nd favorite team, the Packers, just stopped playing in their game. I will NEVER EVER root for the Patriots, so I guess go Seahawks! LOL I love the bingo cards!

  4. I'm cheering for the commercials on Sunday. :) I honestly don't want either team to win... I can't seem to muster up any desire for either team to actually win.

  12. The Bingo cards are just too cute! We're having my in-laws over, and my mother-in-law is not a football fan so she will probably just want to chat through the entire game. I get into the game, so this can be kind of annoying! Maybe I'll do the Bingo cards to keep her occupied ;o)

I think I'm rooting for the Seahawks. I'm not a huge fan of either team, but I like the Seahawks better than the Patriots. We'll see. Really, it just depends on the numbers I get from our work betting board. Then it's whatever numbers I need to make some money!

  13. SuperBowl Bingo - awesome! That would be so much fun especially when you're not emotionally invested in the game like us ladies are that had to watch our teams lose in the playoffs. Sigh. :(

  20. I love the idea of having a bingo game going for the super bowl! I am not sure if we are going to go anywhere any watch it or not. Most likely we will stay at home. I already saw the one commercial I really wanted to see. (The Best Buds commercial of course!!!)

  26. I think I might "borrow" your logo/score idea. We usually do a big trivia deal, but are scaling back a bit this year.

  27. I am totally stealing your BINGO cards for Super Bowl... last year I made them myself and they took entirely too long to make... I don't know if I can take another year of trying to make them... because of course I tried to make 10 different cards and lets just say, that takes time. And we did the prediction poster last year as well which I think I am going to try to do again this year because people seemed to really enjoy it. This is the first year I really don't care who wins... I mean I don't really want to see the Patriots win after the whole Deflategate thing... but I also don't know that I want to see the Seahawks win for a 2nd year in a row... too bad it can't just end in a tie!!

  28. I really want both teams to lose (says the Colts and Packers fan) but if I had to choose it would be the Seahawks. Can't stand the Patriots! Did you say who you're rooting for? -Jess

  29. I am looking for some cool office party ideas so that I can start planning right away. I read that brownie bites, chocolate chip cookies or bread pudding are all delicious bite-sized desserts you can serve on a stick and tray pass or present on a platter.
