Fun-Filled Weekend? Check.

I don't know about you guys, but anytime I see a singer, a band, or just any musician in general who's really amazing at what they do... I get a tad bit jealous. I think back to the times I took piano lessons and hated them so eventually I quit. I think about how I played the flute for seven years in band, but eventually quit that too. At least I still have my flute- sitting up high on the top shelf of a spare bedroom closet- of course. Wow, what I would give to go back and really practice a craft like that. To be absolutely amazing at a musical instrument or have a phenomenal voice- Oh! I'd give anything!

But since I can't go back and perfect those talents now, I absolutely appreciate great musicians like the ones in the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Jared and I got to see their all new show Friday night and it blew me away. I swear, they were thirty seconds into their first song and I leaned over to Jared and just said, "They. Are. So. Incredible." Their show goes on for two-and-a-half, almost three hours and it doesn't feel like it at all. I get so caught up in the music I barely realize time has passed at all! If you ever have an opportunity to see them, I highly recommend it. The ticket prices are absolutely worth it and they also donate a portion of all ticket sales to the military which is awesome.
TSO-Cincinnati

But enough rambling... I'll let a few of these photos give you a sneak peek of what one of their concerts looks like. Music, lights, lasers, moving platforms and more. These photos hardly capture the entire evening, but it's the best I can do ;)

It was such a fun night out and even though we got home pretty late, I managed to get out of bed for a whole day of baking with Kayla and her family. She was sweet enough to include me with the other women in her family ;) Let's just say- I had some of the most delicious treats EVER that day and will definitely be sharing a recipe on Thursday with you all. Nothing says Christmas like putting on 10 pounds, right?!
And you all know I couldn't let this blog post go by without mentioning a big 'ole WHODEY!!?!?! Our guys needed to redeem ourselves this week and that 30-0 score did the trick. ;)

Hope you all did something festive or fun this weekend- tell me about it!

  1. I accepted at a very early age that I have no musical talent whatsoever. :) But it's fun to watch and listen to those who do! That sure looks like quite a show!

  2. TSO, many I love em! I played in the orchestra until high school, but I was much more into sports than music. However, I'm glad that I had a chance to play, learn discipline and learn about fantastic composers.

Baking day looks so fun! I need to start that kind of tradition, lots of yummies!

    WAY TO GO BENGALS!!! WOOHOOOO!

  3. Oh my goodness, TSO would me AMAZING to see in concert! Someday I hope to make that happen! I seriously feel ya on the talent thing... every single Christmas season I am ITCHING to get to a piano and reteach myself to play. I didn't have time to make it happen this year :( I can't wait to have a piano in my home so that I have easy access and can start playing all the time again.
Oh those TREATS! Yummmm! Don't worry, baking is such a work out (at least it is when I bake... not everyone can suck as badly as I do and be running around the kitchen with my head cut off the whole time) that it totally makes up for all the taste-testing ;)

  8. I love the Trans-Siberian Orchestra!!!! They didn't come to Birmingham this year because our big center that they usually play at wouldn't do a few upgrades for their new show and it makes me so mad!!!! I used to play the flute and quit too! Sigh....What I wouldn't give to do some things over again, you know?

All those sweet treats look amazing!!!

Here's to hoping the Bengals can hold out for a home playoff game on wildcard weekend! If they do, I just might see you there!! :)

  11. Jordan and I saw TSO a few years ago. They come to OKC every December, and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Funny story: I actually originally bought the tickets for my mom and I to go together. I thought it was an ACTUAL ORCHESTRA like the philharmonic or something. After I bought the tickets, Jordan was like, "Um... you know it's loud and has lasers and stuff..." So then I watched a YouTube video of one of their songs and was like, "my mom will hate this." haha! So Jordan and I went. It was a lot of fun, not really something I would personally need to see again, but I'm glad I went. I loved watching the electric violinist! Sometimes I get tired of playing at church every week (especially after 1 gajillion hours of practicing and 4 concerts this past weekend for our Christmas concert), but I'm so glad I have a place to use my violin! Otherwise mine would be sitting on shelf too. Glad you had a fun weekend!

  16. Everything about this weekend looks amazing, except for the fact that it doesn't include an impromptu flight to Minneapolis. :)

  17. Yes! I'm so jealous you got to see TSO's new show! I'm sure it was amazing! I'm pretty much drooling over those cookies right now and as always, WHO-DEY?! Wheat and I moved this weekend and our cable guy came to hook up the TV on Sunday afternoon and he ended up being a huge Bengals fan with a tattoo on his forearm. In other words, we became best friends.
