November Goals + Updates

It's that time again- time for goals and updates and progress. Time for the post that I'm pretty confident only a few of you other list/goal-makers enjoy and that's okay. I like having something to work towards every month. Even though I NEVER complete them all (and that's just the truth- not pessimism) I try! I can't imagine what a mess my life would be if I didn't at least attempt a monthly to do list ;) So let's see how October went:

1. Finish 2012 photobook. I finished on November 2nd, so take that! ;) Close enough! And just in time to order it from Shutterfly with their 50% coupon code.

2. Visit a fall farm with Jared. Yep! We doubled up and did two in one day!

3. Do another day of freezer cooking. I'm only giving myself half-credit here. I did a mini-freezer day and just prepped a few things, but I'd hoped to do a lot more.

4. Celebrate Halloween. You know it! Between carving pumpkins, watching multiple Halloween movies/shows, a Halloween dance party and a full-out costume party I'd say Jared and I did things up this year!

5. Be crafty. Flat-out fail. Moving on.

6. Buy 2 more Christmas presents. Success! We actually have 4 family birthdays in November & December so I took care of 2 birthday gifts AND 2 Christmas presents last month.

7. Get to the gym 18 times. Ahhhh, darnit. I knew that goal was too lofty ;) I got to the gym about 15 times this month which is respectable- but the last week of October killed me. I was pooped from work and just made about every excuse I could not to go.

I really felt good about October goal-wise. This was the craziest month yet at my job, but I still made time for hobbies and fun, despite how dark the circles under my eyes became. Onto to this month!!

1. Finish as much Christmas shopping as I can. I almost put all my shopping, but Jared obviously likes to shop for our family too and he'll definitely be the one still shopping around December 22nd ;)

2. Host Friendsgiving. It's on the calendar! Hopefully a lot of our crew can come for our 2nd annual get-together. Now I just gotta' get my house ready and figure out how to cook for a crowd.

3. Celebrate Jared's birthday. We're still figuring out some details and I want to do something really fun to celebrate my man. I can't wait! We're way overdue for a fun night out together.

4. Participate in Nanowrimo. November is National Novel Writing Month and Nanowrimo is a month-long challenge to basically write an entire novel in that time frame. While I'm "cheating" by working on the book I've already started, I'm hoping the challenge will help me hammer out a LOT of this book in the coming weeks.

5. Make a delicious, bad-for-you meal. Yes, you read that correctly ;) For the most part when I try a new recipe, I look for healthier options but sometimes I just crave some good ole' comfort food. I want to make a home-cooked meal and enjoy every calorie of it. (And then instantly go to the gym ;))

6. Book a vacation. Jared and I cannot for the life of us decide where to travel to next Spring. We talk about it almost daily, go back and forth on a zillion options and just haven't been able to narrow it down. Our window is closing in though and I want to get it booked and on the calendar ASAP!

7. REALLY Limit Spending. Other than buying gifts for others and a fun date night out for Jared's birthday, I want to really REALLY watch our budget this month. I can literally taste debt-freedom it's so close, but not close enough! Sallie & Perkins are on our tails to get these student loans taken care of ;)

8. Shave 3-5 minutes off my 5k time. The past few months I've been hitting the weights hard and I'm loving it, but I've definitely gotten away from running. Over the coming winter months I really want to work on my speed and mileage and prepare for possibly a Spring half-marathon ;) #whoami

What are your goals for this month? I'm really looking forward to a much calmer work schedule this month. After our home game tomorrow night I get THREE WEEKS IN A ROW where I don't have to work weekends. It's unheard of, I tell ya! Let's hope with that kind of schedule I can really knock these goals outta' the park.

  6. Awesome job on completing your photo book AND getting it at 50% off! I'm pretty sure my project life albums will still be on my goals list next year at this time... haha

Saskatchewan is always a good vacation destination! (I'm basically rolling on the floor laughing that I just typed that). If you guys end up at Disney again I will be super, super jealous! I've promised my nieces I will take them to Disney but that's probably at least 5 years away if I want to buy a house in the near future

  10. 15 times at the gym is great!

I need to get in the kitchen to get some meals done for a friend who's having surgery. I have to put that on my calendar!

We just finalized our vacation choices for 2015. I like knowing that's set!

  11. You did really well with your October goals, I think your mini-freezer meal day totally counts! I'm working my way through ours because my friend and I are going to have a freezer meal day in December to stock up for the new year/another crazy semester. P.S. Have you guys ever done a no spend month? We're trying to get our budget under control and get back to the envelope system after all of our home expenses, but we have a few last minute bills and things through the end of the year. We're thinking about making January no spend, I'm just trying to decide what the best way to do it is and what our limits on spending should be.

  12. Love your goals! I keep wanting to improve my paces on runs too. I keep coming up with excuses because I'm a goldilocks runner and only like to train in perfect weather. We're doing a 5K over Thanksgiving so we'll see how that goes.

  13. Haha that ecard is perfect! It looks like you got a good chunk of October goals accomplished, and your November list looks a little like mine! I haven't started Christmas shopping, but by the end of the month..I hope to be mostly done! Lofty? Yes. Doable....hopefully!

  14. I am literally putting myself on a spending hiatus until I pay off some debt - obviously other than Christmas shopping that is ;) And that e-Card is great! I have that problem with my bangs all the time! They are finally grown out for the most part. And usually about this time I want to cut them again. It's a vicious cycle!

  15. I'm making a photobook too and need to get that wrapped up... love this time of year and the coupon codes on photo books!

  16. Strangely enough, I love reading these posts! I think you should be extremely proud of your progress on the October goals - especially getting to the gym 15 times! That's not a fail in my book. Not at all. I love giving gifts, but I really hate Christmas shopping. It's way too stressful, so I'm getting a head start, too. My brother, my sister, and I were ALL born in December, so I don't envy my parents one bit.

  22. 15 times to the gym is great! Go you!! :) I think you're going to rock November!!

  23. I really want to get all my Christmas planning/shopping done in the next few weeks as well. Do you do Black Friday shopping?!

  24. Great November goals. I'm working on getting our house organized so that when it's time to move, I'm not totally overwhelmed.

  25. My goals every month is to actually sit down and make a goals list.......baby steps right? I failed October but maybe I can still squeak in November?

  26. You're gonna finish that book soon girl. I just know it. MAKE IT HAPPEN! ;)

  27. YAY for finishing your 2012 photobook! I just finished my wedding album... (right in time for our 2nd anniversary) on November 3rd! I'm a big fan of huge discount codes, but of course this forced me to do the ENTIRE book in one day so I could get 50% off... it took me 12 hours and it was very stressful! Procrastination fail for sure.
