Taking Care of Hair

Before I chopped all my hair off this summer, I could get away with a lot more. Get away with a lot more hair options, I mean. My hair is straight, but does have some natural wave to it so I had no problem letting it air-dry on the way to work most days. By the time I got into the office it would be dry and have a nice wave to it without having to use much of anything on it. Maybe a spritz of scrunch-type of spray, but that was it. No-heat waves was the way to go, I tell ya!

Now that my hair is short, there is no option but to use my hair-dryer AND flat-iron each and every morning. It takes a lot more work to have a short haircut, and while I love the results once it's fixed, I've been concerned about how much more heat I've been using on my hair.

I feel like it's been drying out and looking a bit more damaged lately. I'm sure that's partially due to the fact that I used to buy cheap, low-quality shampoo. Okay, sue me! I guess I never noticed the difference a shampoo makes until I actually started using a higher-quality product. I kid you not, after using Dove Pure Care Dry Oil Shampoo my hair felt silkier and healthier. My hair felt soft all day long and less greasy at the end of a long work day.

Dove Pure Care Dry Oil products are suitable for any hair length and type. Their products claim to deliver five TIMES the silky hair than any other company, and I believe it! You know what else is really cool? They stand by their product so much that they offer to refund you if you aren't satisfied with your purchase. As a money-conscious person, I'm often hesitant to try a new product because what if you don't like it and you're just out that money? No worries here on either front. You can try this fabulous product risk-free and if for some reason you aren't satisfied (oh, but you will be!) Dove will take care of you, no questions asked.

In addition to their shampoo and conditioner, I now use their nourishing hair treatment too. I put just one quick pump of this through my hair when it's damp for extra heat protection and I'm ready to style! So now I feel like my hair is healthier, looks brighter and feels silkier. Despite all the heat I apply to it week-in and week-out to make this mop look good, Dove is taking care of these locks! Dove Hair is daring women everywhere to try Dove Pure Care Dry Oil, risk-free now through December 31, 2014

*If you are not completely satisfied with the Dove Advanced Hair Series Pure Care Dry Oil system, Dove will refund your purchase (from 9/21 – 12/31). Visit hairmoneyback.com for details

  8. I'll have to try this when my current shampoo runs out, but I agree, short hair is WAY more maintenance than longer hair!

  10. #1: Your cut is insanely cute. It's close to the one I did when I donated.
#2: Have you ever tried that "no poo" thing? I've actually been doing it since March, and I love it. It sounds insane, but the baking powder/water solution actually works! This Dove stuff does sound nice, though. I've never heard of it before.
#3: My personal opinion is that short hair is way LESS maintenance. It's so short it dries in no time, and you barely need to use a flat iron because there's not very much length. My long hair feels like it's way more difficult to deal with.

  11. Oh I wish I could rock that short cut you have but it would go each and every way with the curls :)

  12. Love love love your hairs! I cut mine back in April and regret it so much :( It was right below my bra line and you're right - it was so much easier to just let it air dry and play up the wave that happened. I actually ran out of my dry oil a couple of months ago and completely forgot to pick more up. I'll look for this brand the next time I'm at Walgreens :) xo

  13. I love that they offer a refund if you don't like the products! I am always hesitant to buy new products because SO often I end up only using it for a little while and end up giving it away to someone else because I liked my old shampoo/face wash/lotion/etc better. Also, your hair is awesome! I love that style on you!

  14. I'm a cheaper shampoo person too! I've started using trader joes shampoo and conditioner and liked it for a while but then noticed that my hair seemed to get used to it. I'm thinking I may try this next!

  15. Still loving your short hair!!! And I definitely do not spend a lot on my hair products. Oops.

  16. Short hair definitely harder for me too. I've had a cut very similar to yours a couple of times and it's super cute but it's work! I've always had short-medium length hair but I'm trying to grow it out because in my head it seems like it will somehow be easier to manage. It's so awesome that Dove will refund you if you aren't happy! I usually spend more on products that are easily returnable rather than going with a cheaper product that I'm stuck with if I don't like it. Even if it's cheap, it's still a waste of money if it doesn't work out.

  19. No one believes me when I say short hair is more work! Glad to hear we think the same :)
I have used so many different brands over the years, and I hate to admit it but some of the drugstore ones just don't cut it. I have tried spending a little more on quality products and have noticed a big difference. I use the Dove Dry Shampoo, but now I think I need to test out the rest of the line. Thanks for sharing Erin!

  20. Short-hair twins for the win!! I have started using condition BEFORE shampoo and that has helped give my stick-straight hair some volume and it feels softer. It's weird, but I've been doing it for two months and I can really tell a difference. I use my hair dryer and flat iron every day also - I am the need-to-wash-my-hair-everyday girl - so I know what you mean by drying out. I'm always looking for new products that will keep my hair from frying from the constant heat abuse, but like you am hesitant to invest. But good to know that Dove makes a good product to help keep your dry hair healthy! Might have to try it!

  21. For those who have suffered with flat and thin hair there is a product line available. Basically your hair is going to look fuller because there is going to be added movement without the products weighing it down. This movement is part of the volume of the product.
