Bengals vs. Colts = Ouch

Perhaps sometime in the near future I'll be able to actually start a post with something other than, "Oh, the Bengals... they broke my heart this weekend." Today will not be that day. If any of you caught the Bengals v. Colts game yesterday, and for your sake I hope you didn't, you'll know my guys got completely shut down. 27-0. Do you know how miserable it is to watch your team not be able to get on the board for an entire game?! Ouch, guys, ouch!

The good news (sorta) is that Jared and I got to see the game live. We made the quick drive over to Indianapolis with some friends- some of which were Colts fans- to visit my 4th NFL stadium. I'd really love to see them all one day so I'm just aiming for a new one every couple of years. It's on my list to see at least one more before I'm 30!

Lucas Oil Stadium was awesome, though. Easy to get to, and completely hassle-free parking which was very unexpected. I thought we'd be parking miles away but Indianapolis had no shortage of good parking locations at reasonable game-day prices too. Thumbs up to you, Indy! You're a great city to visit.

It was cool to be in a huge indoor stadium for the first time. The retractable roof was open so it was actually pretty chilly in there, but it was great football-weather! Despite our seats being in the 600 level, we had a great view! People always call the upper-decks the nosebleeds, which drives me nuts. There's nothing wrong with being up top! You see everything from there. Sadly, there wasn't much for us to see Sunday- but we still made the best of it and had a great time.

Maybe now since our record is 3-2-1 (silly tie!) I can lower my expectations a little. I mean, if we were 6-0 right now, surely I'd have my Super Bowl dreams crushed come December, right? Now, I can just keep hoping for the best, and I absolutely still think we can make a run for the playoffs- but I've lowered the bar just a little bit for the coming weeks. Don't get me wrong, I'll be losing my voice week-in and week-out cheering on my guys, but any future loss probably won't hurt quite as bad for the rest of the season.

On the way home we got over the loss pretty quickly. We pouted for a few minutes, because any loss stinks- but then made the best of our drive home with some snacks and much needed caffeine.

We weren't the better team yesterday and that's all there is to it. I'll remember visiting an awesome stadium with Jared + friends and just hope our guys are getting ready for next week.  I know I am! #BeatBaltimore

  2. Sorry about yesterday, Erin! I mean, obviously not sorry that my Colts won, but it feels unsportsmanlike to rub it in your face :D Hopefully you guys will do better next week!! Glad you enjoyed my city; it's a pretty awesome place.

  3. Trust me, I know that feeling all too well. And I am really bummed I am not going to be able to watch the game next week! (#BeatCincy) haha. But I have definitely adopted the "if we win, that's great, but I am not letting myself get our hopes up!" It is really the best way to go ;)

  4. That was me last week with the Giants/Eagles. The Eagles shut out the Giants and we lost one of our top receivers for the season. It was hard to watch. I saw the Bengals/Colts game and I'm sorry that happened to your Bengals too!

  6. Ugh that game made me so sad. I don't know what our deal was yesterday but we need to get it together for the Ravens this week!

  7. I agree, better to have your hopes dashed early in the year than in the playoffs. i have no playoff aspirations for my chiefs this year - but they did have a good division win yesterday and are now sitting at 3-3 coming into 2 home games that should be winnable. Have a good Monday!

  10. uuuuugggggghhhhhh, that game. It was just a little bit miserable to watch. We were sitting around on the couch repeating, "but we started so WELL this season." :(

  11. I feel your pain girl. My Giants did that to me last week against the Eagles no less. Don't worry though, the Bengals will get em next game!!

  12. That sounds like a really road trip at least!!! Sorry they couldn't make it the best with a win :( I've only visited one NFL stadium - I need to step up my game!

  14. Ugh shutouts are the worst! The Gators narrowly escaped getting shut out on Saturday but it was U-G-L-Y! They are really hurting me this year, so I totally feel your pain!

  15. You were about ten minutes away from my house! Don't worry about it, your team is still awesome!!

  18. Oh Erin I feel your pain! I think the Browns decided after that win over Pittsburgh that they didn't have to show up in Florida to play Jacksonville. That somehow we would just get the W. UGH! It was horrible to watch. I seriously wanted to throw things at the TV!

  19. So glad you got to make the trip over. My heart will always be in Indy. John will be in Cincy for the Nov 2nd game. I'm trying to decide if it's worth the drive for the boys and I. Decisions decisions!

  20. That was a depressing game, BUT you did get to be at a cool stadium in a cool city on a gorgeous day so that's a win! I agree about seats high up...I prefer them sometimes!

  21. So sorry we weren't kinder to you! I'm hoping those two guys who got hit hard are feeling alright today! Those were crazy! So glad you liked visiting Lucas Oil!

  22. I'm glad you at least enjoyed our plentiful parking around Lucas Oil Stadium (I literally work down the street). It's one thing I've always loved about downtown Indianapolis. I'm not sorry our guys kicked your guys' rear ends though ;-)

  23. I want to go to every NFL stadium as well! Such a bummer to get shut out, but we're on opposite sides this weekend...Go Ravens ;)

  24. I can't even talk about the game. How awful. Lucas Oil is a really awesome stadium, though. I love the retractable roof (it even has its own Twitter account!). I totally know what you mean about lowering expectations, though. I never get my hopes up too high with the Bengals, as much as I love them. I'm just used to this feeling, you know? At any rate, I'm ready to wash this horrible taste from my mouth with a big win over the Ravens!

  25. Grrrrr... football... I still can't even talk about it. The only silver lining of last weekend was that the Niners lost. ;-)

  26. That was not a pretty game. I wish we could have at least kicked a dang field goal! I mean, it's just 3 points but it's better than seeing a big fat 0!

  27. Sorry about the loss but at least y'all got to visit a new stadium together! Love the pictures!! :) Hassle-free parking is ALWAYS a plus ;)
