Why These Just Don't Work

If you're anything like me at all, there are days you want to show up and write on your blog... but just can't think of anything. I don't necessarily feel the need to be here today, rather I just want to spend some time writing. So I hop on Pinterest for ideas, I flip through a magazine near the computer... nothing is striking me. I don't feel inspired until I find Kay's list of 36 blog post ideas. JACKPOT!

That feeling didn't last long. Oh, how I was wrong, my friends. So very wrong. Let's take a look at some of her (awesome!) post ideas and why they don't just work for me today.

Idea #1: Without deleting anything, post the last 10 pictures on your photo roll on your phone.
Okay, to be fair I was all-in for this one as soon as I read it. Pictures are easy enough, right? Wrong. The last 10... no, make that 19 pictures are all of my niece, who I'm not able to post pictures of. Welp, scratch that idea. Next!

Idea #2:  Find your last Target receipt. Post what you bought. This could be laugh out loud hilarious.
While I wish I had a Target receipt miles long of funny, exciting awesome things to share-- I just don't really shop a lot… but I think you guys know that by now.  My last Target receipt likely had 3 things on it and they were all household-type of things. If you want me to go find that paper that says shampoo, Advil and toilet paper... I can.

I know everyone feel this way!
Idea #3: Top 10 favorite Harry Potter quotes (books or movies). Any and all Harry Potter posts are my favorite.
Please promise not to hate me, all you HP fans out there... but I have never read OR watched any of the Harry Potter stuff. GASP!!! It's on my to-do list, really it is, but we just aren't there yet.

Idea #4: Photos of your messy house or apartment. I want to know you aren't perfect either!
To be fair, I think I do this already, don't I? Any picture of my house is usually messy... so, I just can't bring myself to do a whole post on that. Sorry to disappoint ;) But since you need proof, just take a quick glance at my kitchen table. Yes, that is a completed puzzle at one end and another one in the works across from it… No, I will not tell you how long they have been sitting there.

Idea #5: The worst movie you've ever seen. (and how would you make it better?)
Yes, Yes!! I have an answer to this one!!! Skyline-- ever heard of it? I hope for everyone else's sake they weren't dragged to this movie because it was truly awful. The story line was awful, the acting even worse... and don't even get me started on the ending. The only way to make it better would be to never, ever create it! I mean that.

Idea #6: Photo an hour!
Another one I'd LIKE to have an answer too... but I mean, from about 8:45am until 5pm I'm in an office, staring at a computer most days. Add a couple hours worth of traffic during the commute, ouch! I'm bored just thinking about it! There is nothing worth sharing there but I do love the idea, so maybe on a weekend we'll come back to this idea ;)

Idea #7: The last time you cried. Tell me all about it, girl!
Actually- it was a good cry. It was one of the "I'm laughing so incredibly hard I'm crying and might pee my pants!" kinda cry. I wish I could remember what got me going because I'm sure it would have made a fantastic blog post. Jared and I both were in tears a few days ago over something so stupid. Likely a ridiculous face I made, like this example below, but you never know.
Idea #8: A DIY post. I'm a sucker for all things DIY.
One day my blog will be filled with these. One day in the future when we're debt-free and allowed to spend "fun" money again, that is. In the meantime, I'll stalk all YOUR diy posts.

Idea #9: Test a bunch of different chocolate chip cookies recipes and post which one is actually "the best"!
Darnit, Kay! I'm on a diet!!!!

Idea #10: Create a survey! Major bonus points for pie charts and colorful graphs afterwards with the results.
It's all on you guys now! Here's the survey-- what do you want to see/read more of on this blog? Maybe there's something you want to see less of? I'd love to hear it, all opinions are welcome!

PS- Really go check out Kay's full list of ideas because they are great jump starts when your brain isn't feeling creative! :)

  9. I went to Target last night and no lie, my receipt says "toilet paper, bread, plastic spoons, nail polish" and that's it. Hahah.. I also sort of love that you wrote a post using my post ideas but without using my post ideas. I was laughing so hard. Except for the Harry Potter one.. I'm rereading the books this summer so I'm practically demanding you to read them with me!

  12. Hahaha, I love this. Hilarious. I haven't read HP or seen any of the movies. I'm not a sci-fi chick. Although, put in a good love story and I'm all over it... ahem...Twilight.

but that goofy face.. love it. that's the exact face i make whenever it's time to photobomb or just make a weird face in a picture. in fact, a few people get snapchatted that face at least once a week! hah

  16. Ahhh....or you can be lazy like me and post nothing. It's quite liberating ;)

Although I'm super excited for the day you can post niece pics because I have no doubt she's the cutest thing ever!

  17. Love your responses to the ideas! Do you end up framing your puzzles?

  18. I didn't quite adhere to the "rules" of the last 10 pictures because quite a few were the same or not worth posting, but I did do it! So you could always break the rules.
And, while I haven't seen Skyline, I would vote Alexander for worst movie I've actually sat through.

  19. #3 -- Me too!! I try to keep it a secret from my HP friends, haha. Someday I'll read/watch them all!

  20. I'm with you on Harry Potter - never read a single word in the book and the most of the movie I've watched has been a preview. lol.

  21. Haha this is a cute post idea!
I CAN"T BELIEVE YOU DON"T LIKE HP. Crazy, girl!

  22. I read the first 4 HP books in college and then had to wait for the others to come out and when they did I just wasn't interested in buying them...one day, one day...

  23. I just finished reading all the Harry Potter books for the first time a few months ago. I didn't think it was going to be something I liked, but I really did enjoy them. I still haven't seen any of the movies though!

This post cracks me up because that would be my responses to a lot of these. Except replace niece with my dogs and cat and our mess is in our living room with my weights, stability ball and yoga mat thrown about!

  24. I love how you spun this, but really, I think you guys would LOVE Harry Potter. Do you own the books?

  25. I really like this list, but I'm with you, none of them work right now! Unless you want to see 10 pictures of a ladybug that I thought looked like she was dancing, then I got that for ya. (Preview: the pictures just show a plain bug, no dancing involved.) Thanks for sharing these ideas!

  26. I'm actually with you on Harry Potter, although I have actually seen the first movie. But that's it.

The chocolate chip cookie idea is a good one. My mom once made six different kinds and then had Aaron and I taste test them (and then we got to bring home our faves).

  27. I'm with you on Harry Potter- and I thought I was the only one!

    1. You are definitely not alone! I've always said I'd get around to HP, but then when it comes time to pick a new book, I never pick those, lol!
