Runners Tell All + Giveaway!

I missed a couple months of Amanda's fun running link-up, but this one pretty much just required a picture, so I figured I could handle that ;) I know that ever since I ran my first half-marathon a few weeks ago I've pretty much mentioned it daily weekly, but I kinda' can't help it. I'm still running (ha- pun intended!) on that high, I think.

And while I couldn't justify the ridiculous prices for the photos of me in my half-marathon, what better than to screenshot a few for you all? This is what I'd like to call "half-marathon series of emotions"

"Yes! This is so awesome, mile 6 and still feeling pretty good overall. There's a cute old man choir right there! Oh my gosh! They're so cute! and old!"

"Okay... why the HECK did I sign up for this? Mile 11 might as well be mile 317 because my legs cannot go another step. Must walk, must walk. Ooh, are they handing out twizzlers up there? I need a few of those"
"RUNNING IS MY FAVORITE THING EVER!! I just finished 13.1 miles!! Let's sign up for another one!! Well, right after my feet stop bleeding and my hip doesn't suck. I LOVE RUNNING!!!!"

And in other running news, I've got an AWESOME giveaway for you all that I'm super excited to share today!!! :) Tamara and Nate York are a husband/wife team working full-time at their owned/operated YorkSignShop! They left their jobs to pursue a dream and are now fortunate to work from home and spend more time with their two kiddos! They are both runners, and half-marathons are their main gig. Tamara is hoping to do a full and Nate plans to add some triathlons to his resume in the next year or so. Running is definitely a family-affair for them and their kids are doing their first race next month where they'll get to dress as super heroes!
Tamara and Nate have generously offered one of their awesome medal holders for one of my runner-readers. All you have to do is enter below and I'll pick a winner next week! :) Don't forget to check out their shop here to see all the awesome products they offer. Seriously- I'm obsessed. *BONUS-- even if you don't win, they are offering you all 20% off any item in their shop, just use promo code: BLOGGIVEAWAY20.

  7. I love the marathon pics & the captions - Twizzlers, where?! & you know what, you fly high for doing that, that's incredible. I did my first 5K walk & I was proud of myself for doing that...in the cold & rain. :)

  17. What a very cool giveaway. Such a neat idea for a medal holder! Talk about motivation for me to keep running! & Totally loving that last picture of you all holding hands. The look on your face is pure relief & joy. Priceless photo!

  18. Woah, girl! The pig was your first half?? Major kudos to you! I picked a completely flat course for my first because, well, it seemed like it might be easier... (as if 13 miles could be considered easy).

  19. Hmmm, looks like I should join in on the link up fun!

  20. Okay, the second picture is cracking me up! You're all sassy with your hands on your hips, and Kayla's like "I'm so over this." haha! Thanks for linking up! Also, that medal holder? LOVE. If I didn't already have one, I'd be all over that.

  25. i love that yall crossed the finish line holding hands!! and that medal holder - so cute!!

  26. What a cool sign! I definitely know some people in my life that could use this! I did one 1/2 marathon and it was such an awesome feeling to finish! I had the same feeling at mile 10, this sucks, why did I think this was a good idea? Then when I saw my family I got a burst of energy and finished 7 minutes under my goal. Not sure if I have the time to train for another one, but would be much more fun to do it with a friend!

  27. My form gets worse as I go on, and my shoulders slump more and more. I am in awe of the people who looks as good at mile 26 as I did when I finished my 10k.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Love the commentary, especially "twizzlers? I need some of those."

  29. Love the giveaway! If I don't win, I'm totally buying one of these babies! I've had my eye on them for awhile :)

  30. This would be wonderful for a dear friend of mine

  31. Did my first half a few weeks ago...the last 1/3 was a killer!! Still, acheived my goal of completing in under 2 hours, with a haphazard DIY training regime in the month and a half leading up to the event, so was very very happy with that!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Also, I recently bought one of these running medal/bib holders for a friend's birthday (the one with a chalkboard to write up PBs) - handed it over yesterday in fact - she absolutely loved it. It really is the perfect gift for a running enthusiast!!

  33. I LOVE this. This would make an awesome Father's Day gift for my husband who's been doing halfs and two martathons.

    ReplyDelete
  34. These are all awesome pictures. And that medal holder is amazing. One day I will have enough medals to fill that!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Congratulations on finishing your first half marathon!! You captured the range of "race emotions" perfectly! It doesn't matter your speed, we all go through those same stages. And then you cross the finish line and get what I call finish line amnesia. So... when's your next half?? :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. What a cute sign!

I love your running progress pictures- I feel like that's how I am in EVERY run!

    ReplyDelete
  37. You make it look like fun! I love the last photo of everyone holding hands crossing the finish line.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I feel ya on the runs- I always get about half way through, hate myself, then finish and love myself and every person I see! Congrats on finishing your first half!
