I Just Don't Understand

I've seen a few bloggy friends write these posts (Hi, Samantha!) and thought I'd join in the fun as well, as there are certainly dozens of things I just don't understand.

I don't understand people who work out in non workout clothes. It just looks so incredibly uncomfortable! I'm talking to you Mister Khaki-Cargo-Shorts-Treadmill-Man.

I don't understand why all the best foods in life are actually the worst for your body. It just doesn't seem fair that guacamole doesn't give you a six-pack and neither does pizza!

I don't understand why Disney continually tempts me with emails and snail mail that makes me want to sign my life away to them. They know my weaknesses and go after them!

I don't understand Starbucks. Sorry, never gonna' pay that much for any type of coffee (or non-coffee) drink.

I don't understand some of our NFL team's draft picks this year… Sigh. I know you other football-loving gals can relate, even if we are rooting for different teams. Ahem.

I don't understand where the heck my tan from Punta Cana went. Seriously- it faded entirely too fast. I mean, I've only been home a month, why is it gone?! And how can I possibly get it back with all this rain?

I don't understand the children out there who have more shoes than me. We're even talking about babies who can't even walk yet! How in the world is their closet full of so many amazing shoes?

I don't understand why the absolute best ideas and biggest creativity streaks happen as I lay in bed trying to fall asleep. Brain, get with the program and think of these things BEFORE 11pm, please!

I don't understand how in the world Jared and I are approaching our 3rd anniversary already?! They've been the best years of my life, that's for sure. I'm getting so excited to celebrate another year of marriage with this great man! :)

Anything you just DON'T understand?!

  3. Love this, and you two are adorable.
Guac and me could seriously live happily ever after if it was good for me, but those dreams are gone.

  4. No workout clothes people just make shake my head. Jean shorts?!?! or hair down makeup on?!?!?! wth?

  5. I agree with you - I don't understand how Disney keeps finding me to tempt me with oh so wonderful things! Ahh!! What I also don't understand is how stinkin adorable you and your husband are! Congrats on your almost 3 years anniversary :)

  6. I don't think guacamole is bad for you...avocado, tomato, onion, garlic, pepper, chilies (my guac recipe)--those are all good things for you!
The problem, though, is the chips you eat it with. Chips definitely aren't great for you.

I work out in jeans. And everyone thinks it's weird. But I have my reasons. 1) I do own 1 pair of denim shorts, but so far this year it has been too cold to even wear those. 2) Jeans are stretchy. 3) I'm not a workout fanatic and spending $10 on workout pants when I already own perfectly fine stretchy jeans kills me.

So mostly it's because I'm cheap and I work out as minimally as possible. I prefer ballroom/swing dancing--now there's a good workout I can do in a dress and heels! (I know...weird....)

  7. Uhhh, Disney emails. All the temptations bundled up into a simple email. We're in the process of booking everything for our "big" Disneyland trip this summer and I. Am. So. Excited. !

  8. I just don't understand why we both can't be at Disney right now, while eating pizza, AND losing weight at the same time! Dream come true? Yep!!

  9. I do not understand the Browns' draft picks this year. I am not a fan of Johnny Manziel but I just knew we were going to end up with him. Le sigh. I don't understand how I've NOT been to Disney yet. And really, working out in non-workout clothes? Amateurs. But I guess they aren't sitting on the couch eating bon bons, so there's that. And you have no idea how much I wish Chipotle gave me a six pack!

  10. I thought avacados were a "good fat"!!!!! :)

  11. Hahaha, these are awesome. But now I can't stop thinking about guacamole. Is it too early for some guac at 9:40am? Hmm..

  12. You would think guacamole would be healthy- it is all natural ingredients!

  13. I don't understand not wearing real work out clothes either!! One time at the gym this guy was running in high tops.....and at my 5k race this past weekend this guy was wearing off-brand sketchers...are you trying to make yourself uncomfortable?!?!

  14. I don't understand why teenagers REFUSE to wear a coat in the middle of winter, but will wear a stocking cap when it's 90 degrees. I just don't get it! haha

Love your list....but, I'm totally disagreeing on guacamole being bad for you! haha

  15. re: the one about working out in non work out clothes. Have you seen the website called jogging in jeans? It's hilarious!

  16. I'm fairly certain I've seen that same guy at our gym. It makes no sense to me!!!? Yeah, pretty much every baby ever these days has a cuter wardrobe than I do! Not fair ;)

  17. Should I really list all the things I don't understand? lol! I like this post idea a lot...I maybe just steal it ;)

Girls who workout with full makeup, hair and earrings make no sense to me!

Why my child MUST pull/twist/yank/etc. my hair from the the root while he is falling asleep every night!

I have loved them forever, but I will never understand why the Cleveland Browns organization does what it does!

  18. Breanna is one of those shoe girls but that is my fault because I see shoes and I just buy them lol

I don't understand why my child refuses to sleep in >_<

  19. My creativity ideas always happen in bed too, it makes sleeping hard some nights!

  20. My creativity strikes while I'm at work, ha! So I've been writing everything down!

  21. Disney's Facebook page is evil - they always get me to click away and start dreaming. Also, there was a guy at our gym the other day on the elliptical with no shoes on... I was so confused. Lastly, the Vikes got an A on their draft report card this year - things might be turning around. Happy early anniversary :)

  22. haha this is a fun list, i think i could go on for days but might offend way too many people to actually post it! ;)

  23. I keep getting emails about Hawaii and it makes me want to go back like now!

  24. Yes...especially to the gym clothes - the last gym I was at there was a jeans and turtle neck lady on the treadmill plus those loafers with the shorter heel. It made me cringe to watch her!

I don't understand why Disney doesn't give us awesome bloggers free park perks. I NEED to go! Mine Train just opened meaning new Fantasyland is COMPLETE!

  25. omg that wedding dress is beyond amazing!!

  26. The first one! Yes! Why on earth do people do that!!

  27. Great post (consider it borrowed)! Funny you should mention Starbucks-- I totally agree with you on their prices.. I actually stopped and got an Iced Chai Latte today after swearing that I never would again and it wasn't up to par. $5.86 and I didn't get the jolt of energy that I needed. It's just too darned expensive.

  28. Guess what, my dear, I'M STEALING THIS! I love it! :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. OMG finally, the REAL secret to your debt success: you aren't forking over $5 for coffee to Starbucks like the rest of us! :P

  30. Seriously, the working out in non workout clothes is just weird. Then again, I do everything in yoga pants, so there's that. Workout clothes are just more comfortable.

And now the guac at home is calling my name...But it's the light kind from TJ's, so that's good for me, right???

  31. I have a khaki Cargo shorts man at my gym! The worst I saw was man in blue jeans on the treadmill, it looked painful! I wish i didn't understand starbucks, my bank account would love it :(

  32. When is your anniversary?!?!? Ours is three weeks from Saturday!!!! I feel like we're just two peas in a pod. Passionate about money and paying off debt and married for three years. I mean, because obviously, that means we're like the same people, no matter how different we are in other areas of our life ;)

    ReplyDelete
  33. OK, my feelings are a little hurt with the Starbucks comment but I totally agree with everything else! Particularly the part about getting my tan back.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Haha @ the comment about the Browns Draft Pick this year. Johnny M is such a douche.

    Sorry, had to be sad.

And I'm totally with you on the Disney mail!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Happy (early) anniversary!! And I totally agree with the best foods being bad for you! I mean, why is that?!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I don't understand why all the best foods are the worst for you...ahhhh (as i'm eating my chocolate cake).

I LOVEEE that wedding photo...your dress is gorgeous!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I agree with creativity, starbucks, and the NFL draft! There are so many things that I don't understand.

  38. Awesome idea. Guess you've started a new trend.
