Flatts Friday

I always love country music, but the warm weather just makes me want to jam out to country and country alone. Is there any better feeling than rolling the windows down, cranking your favorite tune and singing at the top of your lungs? I think not. I've been a Rascal Flatts fan for over a decade now. I clearly remember watching the "GAC Countdown" on TV as a young teenager, probably back in eighth grade. My sister and I would get SO excited everytime "Prayin' for Daylight" by Rascal Flatts came on. Still, to this day, I love that song!

I love all of their songs and yes, I'm even that person who still buys their physical CDs, not just a digital download. Their newest album "Rewind" just came out and YOU NEED TO PURCHASE IT. YOU SHOULD HAVE ALREADY PURCHASED AND MEMORIZED IT. Seriously, I am completely obsessed with every song on this new album, not that I'm surprised by that. I'm a Flatts Fan for life!

Jared took me to see them in concert back in 2008 and to this day that's the only time I've seen them live. They put one one incredible show, that's for sure! Fun story- Jared had bought us pretty good seats (especially considering we were still broke college kids) in the first level of the arena, probably 20 rows up, near the corner of the stage. We got there early, super pumped to be there… until we looked for our seats which basically didn't exist. We double checked our tickets and confirmed we were in the correct section and row, but those seat numbers just didn't exist!
We calmly asked the nearby usher to help us and he instantly went in to panic mode. He told us not to worry, we would be assisted and just to come with him. Jared and I neither one were worried at all, so we snickered at the flustered employee and followed him. Followed him down from the first level to the floor level. And from the corner to the center. The usher called something in on his radio, scribbled something on a piece of paper for us and said, "Will floor seats here be okay?"
OKAY?!?! Jared and I looked at each other in disbelief and quickly told the man that yes, these row 5 floor seats would work great for us. We got the upgrade of a lifetime! The seats we got moved to had to easily be twice, maybe three times what we paid. When Rascal Flatts came on stage and I hear that first twang of the guitar it was so surreal. I'm not embarrassed to admit that I teared up a little and instantly had goosebumps!

Looking back now I'm impressed with the quality of these pics I was able to snap with my uhh, 7? megapixel camera at the time. It was a date I'll never, ever forget. Jared and I had only been officially dating for a few months and be took me to do something I'd always wanted to do. I don't know how he got those fake seat locations and a free upgrade, but I won't complain ;) PS- Check out baby Erin & Jared, both of us rockin' some shorrrrrt hair!

What's the best concert you've ever been too? I'd love to know who needs added to my must-see-live list!

  3. Kenny, Kenny, Kenny :) I've lost count at how many times I've seen him live - probably around 25 times - but it never.gets.old. He really is the best at what he does!! <3

  4. Needtobreathe. Hands down. I don't want to admit the amount of music I have on my phone, how long I've been a fan or how many times I've seen them. I am counting down the days to next weekend bc they are back in town again! Southern Rock and Country are the two genres that will always have my heart.

  5. Rascal Flatts always puts on the best concert, hands down. I've seen them three times and they are just always amazing... both singing wise and also keeping their audience so so engaged. They rock!

  6. I've seen Rascal Flatts a few times live. The first time was back before they were anything-- opening for Toby Keith! (2002 or 2003, I believe) They're so much fun though. Did you see the segment on them on Nightly News the other night? http://www.nbcnews.com/nightly-news/beyond-their-music-rascal-flatts-helping-sick-kids-n107621

  7. That's awesome! I saw Rascal Flatts in summer 2010 when they played on the Today Show -- my friend is a huge fan so we went the night before and literally slept on the street to get good spots in the morning, haha. And that fake seat location thing happened to me too! A friend and I were seeing a West End show in London, and my (dirt cheap, obstructed view) seat didn't exist... so they sat us in the only available seats remaining, the first row of the dress circle, aka some of the best and most expensive seats in the entire theater. Not bad for some broke study abroad students! lol.

  8. a free upgrade to the floor?! that's awesome. there aren't many concerts we go to that I don't enjoy, but seeing legends like Alabama is always fun and super memorable. but i think Jason Mraz is still the best concert we've ever been to!

  9. Still love "Prayin' for daylight" too! That is amazing you were upgraded to those seats! That had to be an amazing show for the seats alone!

I have been to quite a few concerts when I was younger....my dad belonged to a group called Concert Club so we were always able to score floor seats for good shows. I was in heaven!

Best show ever would have to be AC/DC. We had row 8 seats, center aisle. They had a huge center stage too so they were right next to us! I went with my brother, dad, and my dad's best friend. SO MUCH FUN!
Second best was Justin Timberlake this past winter. No opener. Just him for a solid 3 hours or so. Beyond incredible! He worked the entire arena. There wasn't a bad seat in the house for his show!

It is really hard to narrow it down! Richard Marx put on a killer acoustic show at the Newark Theater. Jewel was crazy good at Nautica on the water in Cleveland. Tim McGraw, Shaina Twain, Martina McBride...you name it! All were so good!

  10. The first concert my husband and I ever went to together was a Rascal Flatts concert! Back in 2005. Loved them then, love 'em now! It was also the last concert we went to together, because he likes metal/hard rock and I do not. I think he was just trying to impress me by going with me ;o) We also ended up sitting the whole time, because no one around us stood up. Really weird! But still a great show!

  11. Brad Paisley puts on a fantastic show. Jordan's uncle works for CMT, and he got us some really good seats a few years ago when BP came to OKC. I've also seen Keith Urban and Tim McGraw (not at the same time) and they were great. Miranda opened for Keith, and of course I love her! Country music = awesome

I am SO excited!! I saw them once in Cincy for my birthday a few years back and they were awesome!! Then they were the Crossroads CMT act for SuperBowl weekend in NOLA a couple years ago so I saw them perform in conjunction with Journey then. They are amazing!!! Your pics are awesome...and what a fun date for sure!!

  17. I must get their new CD ASAP! I'm surprised I haven't already. I've loved Rascal Flatts ever since "Prayin for Daylight" too. I'm sure that is one date that you will NEVER forget. Awesome upgrade!

  18. I'm a Rascal Flatts fan but I guess I'm not a die hard fan b/c I dont have all their CD's although I love their new songs. I also love that game Songpop has a category called Rascal Flatts. I know every song :D

  19. That seems like the luckiest thing ever! Dave Matthews Band has been (and always will be) my favorite live. Their set list is different every single night and they put on the best show.

  20. U2 is amazing live. I've seen Bon Jovi 7 times in 4 decades and they are always amazing. I saw Lionel Richie as part of an all-day festival many years ago and he was fan-freaking-tastic. I would love to see just him. I could go on forever - but I will add just one more. I saw John Mellencamp (one of my favorites) with John Fogerty - Fogerty was brilliant!

  21. That is awesome! I love Rascal Flatts as well but I've never seen them in concert. I've been to a few country concerts - Toby Keith, SheDaisy, Jamie O'Neal, Kellie Pickler, Hunter Hayes, Jana Kramer, Easton Corbin, Blake Shelton - but the best one was Carrie Underwood. I just thought she was okay & liked some of her songs & then my oldest wanted to see her & she blew me away! She was incredible! After that concert, she got a full fan! :)

  22. If you love country music, you HAVE to see Toby Keith! He is fabulous! As is Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean! My fiance took me to see Toby Keith after only a few months of dating also... he's not even a country music fan, but he knew how much I wanted to go, so he took me too see him for my birthday! Best concert ever!

  23. I've seen them three times in concert (including this year's Rewind tour) and am ever so jealous you got to be front row, center. Amazing! Our seats were decent, but not that good. What a cool experience!

Nerd alert here, but the best concert I've gone to is still NSYNC. Those boys sure know how to put on a show. Talented and entertaining.

  24. George Strait was AMAZING & I loved Dierks and Miranda. I'm seeing Dierks again in July with Sara Evans and Sara has been one of those singers that I've liked forever as well!
