Final Day of Disney {Animal Kingdom}

My traffic and blog comments have slowwwwly decreased each Disney post. I guess there aren't as many Disney nerds following my blog as I thought ;) Well this is the final recap of our amazing vacation, so you're either sad to see these end (me) or possibly happy I'll go back to being a "normal" lifestyle(ish) blogger now. Either way- I present you with, the Animal Kingdom!

*Disclaimer, I look like death in these photos due to spending 12-15 hours walking in parks for the previous 5 days and not really sleeping more than 5 hours a night.*

We had SO much fun at this park... it was the best weather day by far. A nice, crisp morning turned into a gorgeous, sunshine-filled day. The first thing we always do (you know, in our two trips here together) is head straight for the Kilimanjaro Safari. It's perfect to ride early when there is no line and when the animals are out and about. We saw just about EVERY animal on our early morning safari ride.

The couple other biggies we hit up early were Expedition Everest (which we rode, and immediately got back in line and rode again instantly!) followed by the Dinosaur ride. Both resulting in fun ride photos and memories.
Lunch that day was at a place we've heard a TON about so we were excited to dine there. I won't lie, this was the only place in Disney that the service was lacking a little. However, the drool-worthy food and cheesecake with mango/strawberry topping? Made up for it. Holy yum!

The rest of the afternoon we walked and explored. That's something I love about Animal Kingdom, but a lot of other people (i.e., people with double-wide strollers) complain about. There are lots of pathways that wind and twist all throughout the park so navigation isn't always super clear. If you're childless and have the whole day ahead of you like us though, it's fun to meander and see what you can find. The Pangani Forest Exploration Trail goes right alongside the gorilla habitat and it's incredible and thrilling to be that close to such massive creatures!

Animal Kingdom is also host to Mickey's Jammin' Jungle parade- a must-see! So much fun music, awesome floats and more. If you're lucky to catch Timon on a good day, he's absolutely hilarious and interacts with parade watchers like us! Oh, and those costumed guys on stilts? Sign me up for that job too!
And that, my friends, concludes Erin & Jared's 2nd annual Walt Disney World vacation. Are you exhausted just from looking and reading?! It's a big trip, and there is always something new to do when you're there. I think we will always be looking forward to the next trip we can make there, no matter how far away it might be. If any of you are ever considering a Disney vacation, don't hesitate to email me. I love talking Disney and would be happy to share any information or helpful tips I can!

  1. Probably my least favorite of the parks, probably has something to do with the fact that everytime I've gone it's POURED. But i do love Expedition Everest!

  4. My brother's main contract is with Mickey's Jammin Jungle. So we've watched it way too many times...and gotten to be in it a few times so I guess that's a perk! Nooo! So sad to see these awesome Disney recaps go! so much fun reading them.

  5. I went to Disney once, when I was in 2nd grade. Never considered going back, since I figured it's a "little kid" thing, but looking at your pictures makes me want to go ASAP!

    1. Definitely not just for kids! I've been as a kid and an adult and it's really just so different. We love it and could easily go there every year! :)

  6. The only time I went to Disney was my senior year trip in HS...one of my friends HATES roller coasters, so we went on the Dino ride, which is pretty tame. Then we told her Expedition Everest was basically the same thing, so she went on it with us...she was soooo mad hahah! So sad it's the end of the re-cap. You really had an amazing trip!

  7. Well, I missed the first few Disney posts, but I'm pretty sure I woul dhave read all of them 'til the very end! I'm jealous of your amazing Disney adventures, and I'm sure my husband will be too, because he is seriously wanting us to do this same kind of thing. Maybe we'll get a chance though sometime soon!

Also, I've been out of the blog world for a while, but I'm back now! Love your new blog design. Looking forward to connect with you again, since you were always one of my favorites! :)

  9. I had a lot of fun following your vacation, I know I'll be going someday in the near future so it's great to get all these inside tips.

I think the walkways in Animal Kingdom would even be perfect for people with kids, as long as their kids could walk. Little K would love to follow the path and explore "the jungle", that's right up her little tom boy alley. :)

  16. I have LOVED your Disney posts! I am a fellow Disney fanatic myself and recently took a trip there in January! When my family goes to Animal Kingdom we always hit up the Kilimanjaro Safari first thing too! Seeing all of the different kinds of animals during the safari and along those winding pathways is always the highlight of our day at the Animal Kingdom :)

  17. I am sad to see these end! I am secretly living through you since I haven't been to Disney in years!! The last time I was there, we stayed in the Animal Kingdom Hotel and it was AMAZING! The safari within the hotel is just breath taking and I love the theme. I definately recommend staying there next time!

  18. i am very jealous of your disney trip! especially since you were there for multiple days – when we went a few years ago, we went to all 4 parks in 1 day! soo exhausting. and animal kingdom was the last one so we didn't last real long (plus i saw a ginormous bird just strolling around and lost it - sooooo scared of birds hahah)

  19. Yay! Nothing I love waking up to more than a gorilla! :) Definitely wish we'd picked AK as the park to go to when we met you last year. It looks like so much fun!!!

  22. I have loved reading your posts! I have been begging my boyfriend for a trip to Disney soon, but we keep putting it off and going somewhere else instead. I've never stayed at a Disney hotel, and yours looked awesome. I would love to stay there one day if it is within budget!

  23. I LOVE how yours and Jared's facial expressions are the most intense among all the others in the rides. Hahaha!!

  24. We did the same as soon as we arrived at Animal Kingdom. We literally sprinted to the safari ride so we could see all the animals and it was SO worth it!

  25. animal kingdom is the one place we didn't get to go when we went and now that I've seen pics, I'm highly disappointed and feel the need to go back IMMEDIATELY. lol

  29. Honestly I have loved reading about your trip to Disney, especially since I have NEVER been there :( I have been in a slight funk and haven't commented on anything :( I promise to do better :)
We are thinking sooner than later for taking Xavier to Disney though...so I might be hitting you up for your advice :)

  30. I hate the Dinosaur ride! It's seriously the only one at Disney I won't do. That dino at the end really freaks me out.

Dinner looks delicious! Suddenly I want beef with broccoli for lunch!

  31. I have LOVED these posts! Especially because it's given me a lot of ideas of what exactly I want to see when I'm there. Since we'll only be going one or two days while we're there, I'll have to prioritize!

  32. It's funny you say 34 comments = slowly dropping off! haha. I have to admit... the Disney posts aren't so much my thing BUT I'm glad they're your thing, and if you can't talk about an amazing vacation on your own blog, then really what are you even doing with your life? ;)

  33. Some people just don't have an appreciation for things fun like Disney. I could go on for days about it. What's really funny is one of my closest friends use to give me problems about my love for it, and now she'll be going this year with her inlaws, next year with her parents and she went last year to Land. I was like "see you love it too!" :)

  34. I would have totally loved that safari ride!!

  35. Aw I've loved you Disney posts! They've made me so jealous too :) I saw you mentioned some sort of meal past, maybe in the first post, how do you get that and what does it entail??

I loved the safari ride when I went with my brother a few years ago. It was incredible!

  38. Looks like you had sooooo much fun in Disney!! It's good to know that you can still enjoy it as much as an adult as you can when you are a kid. Mark has never been before so going there is definitely on my bucket list for before we have kids!

  40. I wish these posts would continue! I absolutely adore all things Disney! We went for the first time this last summer. I was about 5 months pregnant so I wasn't able to ride anything, but the park was still a blast! I can't wait to go back and this time bring our son :)

  41. I've enjoyed your Disney posts. It makes me want to go back really bad! We loved Animal Kingdom. We did the same thing as you guys- safari ride first thing (I actually think we did it a couple of times, then back to back Expedition Everest rides. My husband isn't a big roller coaster fan, but he loved that ride. He screamed the whole time and I got it on video! :)

I want to know what kind of camera you used...your animal pictures are great!

  42. Girl, I'm a total Disney nerd! And these posts have made me sooooo excited to to Disney World someday!! We seriously want to take 2 weeks and just play! So in other words, that will never happen, ha ha!

  45. Yay, Disney!! So much fun!

Isn't it funny the types of posts people end up liking and commenting on? Sometimes it's totally not what I would originally think.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The safari was so much fun! We ended up oversleeping the day we went so a lot of the animals were sleepy. I was still so amazed to be that close to them. Glad I could "relive" our trip through yours, now I'm jonesing for a trip back there :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. The giraffes'! #BeStilMyHeart! And, that cheesecake, yum! I need to just forward every single one of your Disney posts to KC as a hint, hint. Right? Would that be going a bit overboard?

  48. When we went to Animal kingdom, we were in a group of 12 and took up the whole car in the Dinosaur ride--the picture of all of our expressions when we thought we were going to be eaten by a dinosaur is probably my favorite picture from the whole trip.

    ReplyDelete
  49. That food looks soooo good. And all I have to look forward to for dinner is some rice and beans...boring

    ReplyDelete
  50. I loved the Safari Ride & Expedition Everest! Our family picture on the dinosaur ride is priceless! My mom was scared the whole time & I wasn't expecting the camera to be there. I like the Bugs Life show, too.
