Disney {Arrival Day}

Recapping Disney is pretty high up there on the list of really difficult things to do… like picking a movie on Netflix or not eating all the chips and salsa at a mexican restaurant. You just can't do it! I took so many pictures, made so many memories and laughed so many times while in the most magical place on earth, so I know I'll leave things out, but I'll do my best to recap one of the best weeks I've ever had.

We arrived in Orlando last Sunday afternoon and were already giddy with excitement to be in Florida, away from snow, and headed towards our resort. We stayed at Port Orleans - Riverside and fell in love almost instantly. Each staff member greeted us with Southern hospitality and we felt more relaxed just entering the lobby! We arrive at the check-in desk, and let me tell you… we were floored! Sweet Natalie checked us in, then promptly handed us anniversary pins (it was our 6-years together, after all!) and then handed us a scroll. A scroll? Why, yes. We had been upgraded! To one of Tiana's royal rooms! I have never in my life received any type of upgrade while traveling so our excitement was through the roof at this point.
The room was fantastic. Those headboards? Push a simple button and they light up with a fun fireworks display. Disney is magical, I tell you. Right from the start! After we quickly freaked out over our awesome room, we headed out to Downtown Disney for dinner, shopping and exploring.

We stopped in first at Planet Hollywood for a quick snack, since our dinner reservations weren't for much later that night. I've been to Planet Hollywood a handful of times, but always love going and looking around at all the fun props, costumes etc!

Our resort had given us free unlimited access to DisneyQuest, something we didn't try out the last time we were there. Think Dave & Busters type of games, but 5 floors of them!

Once you were inside, every single game is included so we killed some time there playing video games 'til we were ready to head to our dinner reservations at the T-Rex Cafe. There is SO much to look at and watch for while dining here. Dinosaurs, sea life, fish tanks and a meteor shower that erupts every 25 minutes! Such an entertaining place to eat and the food was absolutely delicious as well. I love a good themed restaurant, don't you?! I wish there were more unique places like this scattered throughout the country and not just in tourist-y destinations!

And you know I had to get a famous dinosaur pose in before we left. It's my thing. I don't know why or how this started, but I'm kindof a big deal when it comes to T-Rex poses and noises. I'm a pro… you should know, I did this same pose last year at Disney!

I had fully intended on recapping our first day in the parks along with our night at Downtown Dis, but it looks like this post is getting just a tad too long, so I'll stop here for now. There is lots more magic and fun to come this week! :)

  1. I am so glad you made the dinosaur comments! I love dinos, not sure why. My husband and I go geocacheing (not sure if you know what that is) but sometimes there are toys inside for little kids who find them. And once we found one with t-rex inside. So I took him. He still sits on our computer desk :)
    I love all the disney pictures in your room! So fun!

  9. Disney Quest is the one thing we didn't have time for but is on our to-do list next time. Sounds like PO-R is the one to go to this year, another friend just booked Disney and is staying there too.

  11. Wow!! You're making me want to go back already! :) And yeah, they should have more of these types of restaurants with awesome and interesting decorations all over the place. When we went to Downtown Disney my uncle asked the kids whether they wanted to eat in the boat, with the dinosaurs, or in a volcano. They picked volcano, so we went to Rainforest Cafe!

  34. Yay Disney vacation recap posts! I haven't read a lot of blogs lately, but I wanted to see how your vacation went! I *love* when Disney magically upgrades guests! POR is one of the next resorts that I want to stay at just because I have read so many great things about it. Did you all do the dining plan this time?! We did it for the first time during our trip in January and I don't think I can go back without having it. Glad to see you all had fun in Epcot and on your arrival day! DisneyQuest is awesome but I haven't been there nearly as many times as I'd like.
