The $1 Valentine's Day Gift

Jared and I typically don't do anything extravagant for Valentine's Day. Either a nice dinner out, or a nice dinner at home and maybe small gifts. Oh, head's up for all you Valentine's Day haters. This post is about Valentine's Day. Perhaps I should have led with that? Too late now, I suppose.

So I wanted to do something cute and crafty for Valentine's Day but nothing that would require too much time or money, either. So when I stumbled upon an idea that would cost me less than $1? You know I jumped on that faster than you could say 'conversation hearts' and set out to make it happen. Enter, the easiest, cheapest Valentine's Day Craft in all the land.

Valentine's Fortune Cookies!

Stuff you need and already own:
- Mason jar (or small bowl, but let's be serious... you're a blogger. You have at least 15 one mason jar)
- Marker
- Scissors
- Paper, any kind will do
- Hot glue gun (this could be a stretch, but hopefully you have one! You can get one for $5 though!)

Item you need to spend your dollar on:
-1-2 sheets of felt, depending on how many of these bad boys you want to make
-Cute box to put them in, if you want!

Put your mason jar on the felt, trace with your marker and then cut. I felt the circles were tad small with the mason jar, so I used a large mug to trace some too- you can do different sizes!

Fold the circle in half to form a semi-circle. Put a small line of glue along the center edge, in between the layers and press sides together.

Put your index fingers inside the fold and bend the semicircle. This is awkward and took me a few tries to get the 'bend' right, but even if they aren't perfectly symmetrical they turn out cute! Add another dab of glue at the crease to hold that "pinched" shape... aka, fortune-cookie-shape.
Cut your strips of paper, write a fortune on it (silly or scandalous!) and tuck it inside the cookie.
Ta-da!! Adorable and simple!

Are you crafting anything this Valentine's Day Weekend?

  5. These are so cute!!! I typically try and make something each year for Andrew, too, but it normally gets lost. This would be a great gift, though, because you could use it as decoration, too!
