Five Great Things

Happy Friday, friends!! I love feeling like part of the "cool crowd" now that I can say that and actually mean it. I now have actual Fridays that come with two days off after them! Not working weekends is probably the greatest feeling in the world... right up there with snuggling babies and puppies. I thought I'd keep it simple today and just share five awesome things I'm loving lately and link up over here. Sometimes posts in list format are just best!

Watching Tangled and absolutely laughing out loud over it. The horse in this movie might be my favorite ever. Yes, I'm 26 years old and enjoy Disney movies regularly.

Working out... even though it actually sucks. I don't think I'm at that point yet where I love working out. Let me rephrase that. I love the feeling afterwards once I'm drenched in sweat and calories have been burned. But, it's still a struggle for me to feel motivated to get to the gym. Once I'm there, great! Leading up to it I have no desire to go. How do you all get addicted to working out?? I need that! I did get some awesome new protein powder this week that has me excited about getting healthier: Mocha Mint flavored... bonus!

Making plans for girls night(s)! I haven't really had a social life in months, so it's nice to actually be able to look at a relatively open calendar and schedule in some fun time with friends.

My precious niece. I hate that I can't see her daily or even weekly, but the pictures and videos and Skype sessions help. They always brighten my day and my sister always seems to send them at the best time.

Going after goals! Jared and I have been making some great progress on our goals and resolutions already this year, and it feels great. Our biggest goals are of course financial ones, but we're slowly getting around to some house projects, writing goals and other personal goals as well. You might not be a fan of resolutions, but I am! I love that list being in my face day in and day out. What better way to keep yourself motivated?? Oh, and we also watched Pursuit of Happyness this week. Whew, talk about a tearjerker and an inspiration. If Will Smith can do it, so can we! ;)

What are some things you're loving this week???

  9. I haven't seen Tangled yet - we will have to watch it!

Getting into a routine with working out is the only thing that keeps me motivated. And it's not even really motivation, I just go because everyone at work knows that I go to the gym on my lunch break so it would be weird if I didn't. So I go. Even though I don't want to most of the time :)

  10. Oh, do tell me how you like the protein powder! I have yet to find one that doesn't taste horrible, but Mocha Mint sounds pretty yummy.

  14. When you find that love for the gym, send some down to Nashville please! I am always happy when I go, but I am miserable the whole drive there!

  15. True story: I am going to start working out 3 times per week and I was a bit inspired by you! I know it'll be worth it in the end!!!

  16. I am totally a fan of resolutions. I don't get why people hate on it!

I'm about to put my sneakers on to go for my lunch walk. I brought my down coat today so I'm prepared!

  18. This is going to sound super corny but after a couple of years of inconsistent workouts and getting tired of "starting over", I finally just decided I wanted to be "that girl". I wanted to make fitness a priority and getting myself to the gym is the only way to make that possible. I knew I wanted to change my lifestyle and so... I did. It takes a LOT of time and I fail all the time, especially with eating, but I don't give up. Working out has become a part of what makes me, me. The benefits are never ending and I swear I get antsy now if I have to miss a workout! Find something you LIKE to do and do it. Don't force yourself to do an activity just because it burns calories. Dance, zumba, bike riding, karate, boxing, swimming, playing a sport, etc. There are an endless amount of everyday fun activities that will make it fun for you! For me, I live for lifting weights but I know people who HATE it. Everyone is different. Ok I'm stepping off my soapbox now! Give yourself time and you'll fall in love with it eventually. Promise. :)

  19. Tangled is really good! (and so is pursuit of happiness...even though it's one of those movies that I can't watch over again because I know I'll just sob.)

Do you take any classes at the gym? I'm not a fan of working out by myself, but I love taking the classes!

  20. Oh girl, I totally get it! It's so hard for me to get to the gym, or get out on my run! Once I'm doing it I'm totally fine. I don't think I'll ever be excited to "go work out" It's just a pain, ha ha! Good thing it's worth it when we are finished!
And we love Disney movies! Our very favorites are Tangled and Despicable Me (this is the only one Mia has watched so far. I'm not a fan of getting her addicted to tv, yet). Mia is in LOVE with the minions, ha!

  21. Tangled is definitely one of Disney's best movies, good taste :)

  22. I really need to catch up on my Disney movies. I hear Tangled and Frozen are wonderful. And the Pursuit of Happyness is a great movie!

Congrats to having an actual weekend! I feel the same way about a free social calendar, now that I'm not taking classes anymore. If you need a socializing partner in crime, I'm only 1.5-2 hours away!

And go you guys for tackling those resolutions!

  23. I love Disney movies and I older than you! ;) Actually just recently watched Tangled for the first time and I love it! X likes to watch it too :)
Can't wait to hear how that Mocha Mint protein works out for you!
Hanging with friends! I would love that! Most weekends if we do it is rushed, or just out for dinner. Having a child kills your social life a bit :( lol! Let's work on that blogger meet up for early this summer :)
    Have a great weekend!

  24. I'm so excited that you get weekends now! I've had to be "stuck" on working weekends before and I just felt like a completely different population. Welcome back Erin!!! LOL
And I'm loving my new job!!

  25. OMG! Tangled makes me crack up too! Also - the snowman in Frozen! We haven't seen it, but I always bust out laughing from the preview!HAHA

  26. I'm enjoying having a bit of a social life again too :) Yay for girls nights! I'm also making a bit of financial headway too so I'm excited about that too. Glad you've got things to look forward too including a real weekend.

  27. I'm definitely not addicted to working out yet but it's motivating knowing how good I'll feel afterwards! Enjoy all your fun social activities - you deserve it!!!!! :)

  28. Tangled ROCKS - and yes, my husband and I sit down and watch this with our daughter, she ends up leaving the room to go play yet we are still watching. haha. the horse is hilarious!

  29. My husband and I posted our goals on the back of our bedroom door so we have to face them every morning. I love being able to see them. Great job on working out. I never grew to love working out. I'm with you though, the feeling afterwards is amazing. Once I actually put on my workout shoes it was on but until then I was talking myself out of it the whole time. Thankfully I had a great friend to keep me on track. I'm impatiently waiting for it to warm up so I can get outside and get to walking again.

    Disney rocks! :)

  33. I can't be friends with anyone who doesn't still love Disney movies at any age! Lists on lists on lists, good luck with all your resolutions this year! :)

  34. I cannot imagine having a job where I have to work on the weekends. Although my mom is a teacher and she can't imagine working during the summer... Damn her! ;-)
