You Know You're Old

You know you're getting old when your goal for the weekend is not to leave your house, if at all possible. Seriously, that was my goal this past weekend. Jared asked me what I wanted to do and I said "Wear my ugliest clothes, be productive all day and then flop on the couch." Thankfully, he was totally okay with that!

We got so much done and it was still a much needed free-weekend. I feel like it's so easy to over-schedule yourself and I want to be better about embracing down time when I can! It seems like people sometimes glorify "being busy" and really, I just love to be a homebody and do what I want in the comfort of my own house some days!
Does this look familiar? It's becoming a trend in my house to wear the worst possible clothes when I cook…. lucky Jared, huh?? We made this delicious Chicken Taco Chili in the crockpot for dinner Saturday and it was incredible. There is nothing better than being able to just chop up a bunch of ingredients, throw it in the pot and leave it to do its thing all day. Whoever bought us our crockpot for a wedding gift?! Thank you- we use it more than anything else in our house!
We omitted the corn and the kidney beans and it was just as filling and delicious. Also, ours was done in about 5 hours on high in the crock-pot, so be sure to check your's periodically if you decide to make it. All crock-pots are NOT created equal.

After eating seconds and maybe thirds we worked on a puzzle and sipped on chai tea the rest of the evening. It was just the warmth we needed on a chilly, lazy weekend. We may sound lame and boring to most people our age, but I cherish the weekends we have to ourselves. No where to go, no events to attend, no commitments. Just us being us and only venturing out if we feel like it. If you need to know what we looked like for the majority of the past 3 days? See below.
This weekend I also got started on my November goals but getting an intense work-out in and also chipped away at our yearly photobook. I will catch up, I will, I will!

How was your weekend? Too busy to enjoy? Too boring to blog about? Or that perfect combination of both?

  2. Girl, you are speaking the song of my heart! Haha. Lazy weekends in the coziest (and ugliest) clothes we own are my favorite types of weekends. It's even better when my hubby will let me pull out the sofabed. That's when you know you've hit a whole new level of lazy!

  3. Our last 2 weekend have been super laid back with no commitments and it's been AMAZING! We were lucky if we were home just one weekend each month during the summer! We were gone every weekend for 2 months straight at one point. So I totally feel ya... these kinds of weekends are the BEST!
I love that you do puzzles together!!

  5. I LOVE weekends like that!! The laid back, not putting on real clothes all day, snuggling on the couch and watching movies kind of weekends. They don't happen nearly enough!

  7. That sounds like such a fun weekend! That's what I miss about not being in school. I feel like even if we have no obligations, there's always an assignment or an exam coming up that we should be focusing on! I miss being able to just be...with no guilt!

  11. I love using the crockpot! We got 2 at our wedding 7 years ago and I use them all the time. I almost brought one back thinking we wouldn't ever use it! I use them both for parties and get togethers :)

I like to hangout at home, I also like to get out of the house a lot! Maybe it is because our basement is being worked on so I am missing a whole level of house :(

  21. This sounds like the perfect weekend to me! I did a lot of laying low this weekend too and when I logged onto my facebook feed and saw all the crazy halloween parties, I felt like maybe I should be doing something a little more lively. But then I went back to my tea and my book and was totally content! :)

  23. Weekends like this are the best! I always feel lame when everyone my age is going out and I'd rather snuggle and watch cheesy movies but it's just more "me"! I'm also going to be making that recipe ASAP! I'm obsessed with my crockpot as well :)

  35. At least every other weekend one of our days is designated as "do nothing day". They're the best.

  36. My favorite kind of weekend is the kind that involves cleaning, cooking and relaxing at home. I love, love, love being at home. My hubby isn't always on the same page, we actually once argued because I expected us to stay HOME all weekend but he wanted to go out on Saturday afternoon... How pathetic!?

  37. We are old too!! We didn't have any plans to leave our apartment last weekend either. I love these weekends when it is chill & relax.. People at Gary's (the hubs) office call him the old man of the office. :)
