November's Past

So back when I was a good blogger (wait, when was that??) I started a 'pasts' series, going back each month to see how things had changed over the past 5-6 years, highlighting the big events of life. So that was going good in 2013 so far, a nice solid blog post each month you could always count on….. and then July's post went live and we forgot all about August, September and October. Bad, bad blogger!

Perhaps I shouldn't have pointed out that I skipped three months of this so-called series and just got on with it. I'm betting the majority of you (i.e. everyone) wouldn't have known I messed up. Since I outed myself and that's taken care of, let's just see what November has been like in the past few years!

November 2008
The first time Jared and I officially celebrated his birthday as a couple. I made him this super awesome Bengals fleece blanket and then surprised him with a fun night out at a mega-bowling alley with all his friends there.
November 2009
Attended my first ever NBA game with my parents. We saw the Indiana Pacers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers - when Lebron James was still with them!

November 2010
I feel like this was a really big month in life! I completed my M.Ed at Xavier University-- that was the big one! Then later that month I picked out my wedding dress, ordered it and it was in EIGHT days later. We also took engagement pictures, and spent the holidays together with each of our families for the first time.
Call me old-school, but I think it's perfectly normal to not do holidays together until you're in an "officially committed" relationship! I remember being so excited about having Jared at my grandparents with me, and then attending his family get-together that same night :)

November 2011
We roadtripped with Caleb & Kayla to see our first Bengals away game together in Nashville, TN. We spend the weekend exploring the city we all love SO much and got to see an awesome Bengals win.

November 2012
For Jared's birthday we saw the Trans-Siberian Orchestra for the first time ever and that was an experience that did NOT disappoint. We spent the whole day downtown with stereotypical red cups and eating at delicious Cincinnati restaurants. Such a perfect day!

So what will November 2013 year hold? Hopefully another awesome, fun birthday celebration for my main man. A few festive events, including our first-ever Friendsgiving and fingers crossed for a couple more Bengals wins before the month's over.

Looking back, November has always been a great month for Jared and I. It's such a great time of year and I always feel like Jared's birthday is our official kick-off to the holiday season. Does November hold a special place in your life??

  2. I actually did notice that these were missing but only because I love them so much. I wish I could remember more about what I did in the years past. When I graduated from college, I deleted my "college' facebook and made myself a new one so my life was deleted up until 2010. oops. Hope you have a great Wednesday friend.

  4. I totally agree on the holidays thing! Our first one together was the year we got engaged, but only because he drove in Christmas night to surprise me. So I guess our first REAL one was last year.

  7. Was that Rock Bottom restaurant in Nashville that the picture of you two is at? Just curious since I'm currently posting about our Nashville trip that we took last weekend :)

  8. I was missing this series too :) I love it! My mom's birthday is in November so that's always been fun to celebrate. We're throwing her a surprise dinner on Sunday with just my twin, step-dad and I but a surprise is fun no matter how small :)

  9. November does hold a special place in my life! My sister was born on November 21st and of course I love her but to make November even better my daughter was born the day before Thanksgiving in 2009. I'll never ever forget that day as long as I live.

I love how you can remember what you were doing in such detail so far back, after a while I remember doing things but the time frame gets fuzzy.

  10. I love these posts! I agree about the holiday thing, although I'm using it to my advantage the other way. We've spent the last 2 holidays together since we got time off from work, and out families are only 2.5 hrs apart, but this year it will be pretty much impossible for me to see his family, although he can come to mine (if I get the time off!). I'm telling him since we're not "officially committed" that these are the last few years he can get away with leaving me alone for the holidays! Once there's a ring on my finger he's stuck with me...wherever that is!

  13. Brandon and I didn't spend our first Christmas together until last year (we were finally engaged) but had been together for 5 years. biggest reason was distance between our hometowns. So i'm totally with you on that point!

  14. These are my favorite posts! I always look forward to these! I am the same old school way with not bringing home boys unless there is a bigger commitment there. Scott was the first boy I ever spent holidays with! Glad to know I'm not alone in that! =)

  15. I did notice that you hadn't done the months past posts lately but I didn't realize it had been quite that long!

I love November. It's Aaron's birthday month AND my birthday month and of course I love Thanksgiving.

And even though it has Cincinnati Bengals all over it, that's a really cool blanket!
