Football-Filled Weekend

I'll go ahead and get this out there now. Yes, my Bengals lost yesterday and yes it took me the rest of the day to recover from it. As crappy as it is to come out and lose your first game of the season, the Bengals looked good -there is no denying that. Dalton and Green…. ALL DAY, EVERY GAME, please and thank you! Now let's get those turnovers and tempers under control and prep for next week's MNF game vs. Pittsburgh.

Whew. Didn't know if I could get through that first paragraph without a couple of shed tears ;) Luckily, this weekend we did get to see a winning football game, in person, too! Jared and I were given tickets to the Ohio State/San Diego State game this past Saturday and we were thrilled to see our first ever Buckeyes game together!
We got to campus super early to explore and take in all the festivities. For those of us who didn't go to a big state school, it's pretty cool to walk around and see all the athletic facilities, museums, statues, etc! We started our day by a stop in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. The lobby highlights all the team's success and tradition over the years.
We got to check out the rings, watch highlights of the team's history on a MEGA-screen with surround sound and in those sweet helmet chairs/couches. I will definitely take a few of those in orange and black if someone can let me know where to pick them up…. and if I can get them on a Sallie/Perkins budget or not.

After a little more exploring and lunch (complete with a Brutus the Buckeye appearance!) it was time for the game and Ohio Stadium did NOT disappoint. That place is massive and we had great seats in the endzone.
Since I took a thousand pictures I'll let them do the rest of the talking today :)
I have to say, although the NFL will always be my number one love, there is nothing like college game day live and in person! The stadium just seemed so much more under control and EXCITED about each and every play. Not wasted out of their minds, picking fights with people sitting near them and barely standing on their own. I'm sure that goes on to some degree, but I didn't see it at all. So college football fans- ya'll stay classy, I like it!

Was your weekend football filled with victories or losses? Happy Monday- cheers to a week that is sure to be chaotic, but fun :)

  8. I'm so glad you had fun at the game! Ohio State seems to have a lot of fun traditions. I'm the opposite of you and have never been to a NFL game before. But I love how emotional everyone gets at college football games.

  12. I love you enough to want to read your posts, but I won't lie... I skipped the pictures. WAY TOO MUCH RED AND WHITE. Especially for a U of M fan. I imagine this is how you feel about PIttsburgh...

  13. I didn't get to watch the game because I am in TN at the moment. I am sort of glad I didn't...it kind of lessened the blow! But we have to beat the Steelers next week! AND watching the Titans beat the Steelers was worth it too..

  14. I can't even talk about yesterday. The Colts beat the Raiders and I didn't see it. Not one snap. In fact...I didn't see a single OUNCE of football all day because Comcast thought it would be cool to have an update (or an outage as they later called it) that caused not only our cable, but also our internet to be out until this morning. NOT HAPPY! :(

  18. I'm the opposite of you. I have been to tons of college football games (FSU and UCF) but have yet to make it to an NFL game. The Bucs play an hour away and yet have never made it to a game.

  23. Sorry your team lost. That is always hard! But Dalton is one of my fave players and I always pick him up in my Fantasy League. I can always count on him to do well! Looks like you guys had a great time at the Ohio State game, even though I have to disagree with your favorite college team, haha! Go Blue! But you got to go to a game which is awesome! Glad you guys had a great time!

  24. the packers lost too...sad day. they did not play well and there was a bad ref call but thankfully we can still say - it's only one game and it's the first one. Not one that will determine (hopefully) if you make it to the playoffs or not! However I realize we will have a showdown in 2 weeks. Bengals vs Packers --- i'll tweet you haha

  28. ...and the Rams won :)

Anywho I went to a state school but our football was NCAA-II so when I would go to the Arkansas Razorback games with my then boyfriend because it was his alma mater, I was in love with all the spirit and the greatness of NCAA I teams. Then I went to a Mizzou game (who I cheer for as well) and it was just as great. I like pro but I love college more :)

  29. I could have had tickets but didn't use them. I did walk to a tailgate (a long damn way) and the energy on campus is just so fun on gameday! And Penn State rolled to a victory - yay!

Can't even discuss the NFL. Hello, AFC North? 0-4? Really?!
