Being Big Kids

You might remember back in May the adorable, creative gift Jared gave me for our 2nd anniversary. We're trying to do the 'traditional' gift each year and 2 years = cotton. The date tickets he made had long been hanging on our refrigerator, money attached, just waiting for those few rare days the tiny amusement park was open to the public. So when Labor Day weekend rolled around I was really excited to finally show Jared my first job as a cotton-candy swirler and spend the day there together!
It was so funny to me that almost NOTHING had changed since I worked there, more than 10 years ago. (Wow, that makes me feel INCREDIBLY old!) The ride operators? ALL the same people... I even remember most of their names! The place is still out in the middle of no where. Seriously- the place is surrounded by corn fields. And that weirdly just makes me feel like I'm "home" again!
We spent a few hours acting like total goofballs, riding rides and playing games. Jared even got on a couple spinning rides with me, which are definitely not his favorite.
Check out those prizes.... I'll take a Jamaican Banana, please!
As we were riding the train loop around the park, a storm made it's way through and we had to make a run for shelter right after we got off the ride. Luckily, it blew through pretty quickly and we dodged most of it.

We ended our adventure at the park with 18-holes of mini-golf in which I beat Jared for the FIRST time ever and a relaxing ride on Ferris Wheel.

So did we get rained on? Yes. Was it above 90 degrees? Yes. Did we have absolute blast acting like big kids and spending an entire day together? You know it :)
