Wedding Memories

This weekend, Jared and I have the honor of seeing one of his childhood friends get married! Jared has known Alex his entire life and I have so enjoyed getting to know him over the years, too. Alex is the crazy guy who doesn't care what anyone thinks and will act a fool for a good laugh. Alex is also the guy who has worked incredibly hard since college and is doing big things with his career. He's a smart guy, I'll admit!
While I've only gotten to meet his bride-to-be a couple of times, she's just as sweet as they come. The first time I got to have a conversation with her I felt like we'd already been friends for ages. Kelsey's just one of those people who puts you at ease and the conversation is easy. Plus? Even though she's not a Cincinnati girl, she embraces and loves Skyline Chili :)

We couldn't be happier for this adorable couple and look forward to celebrating with them all weekend long! Some of the best memories are made at friend's weddings, am I right? Like the time....

--Jared and I weren't "officially" dating yet and he brought me to his cousin's wedding. I was asked about 30 times how long we'd been dating and I had to keep saying.... "Ehhh... Umm... we're not?!" We also got snowed in and I ended up staying at his parents house for 2 nights that weekend. We got to know each other, real fast ;)

--Or the summer of 2009 when Jared and I went to 6 different weddings within 3 months and had to turn down a handful of others we couldn't make.

--Or at my best friend's wedding, just a month after we'd gotten engaged. Weddings took on a whole new meaning for us as we got ready for our own. And of course, Jared stole the show out on the dance floor with the flower girl for most of the night.

--Or at our own wedding, just having the time of our lives with all our best friends and family there to share that day with us. It honestly seems like yesterday!

I know we've all got plenty of wedding funnies/memories/moments to share, so I asked some of my lovely sponsors to join in and share as well! Make sure to stop by their blogs and say hello.

  1. Love this post!! I love a good wedding. My fiance and I actually met at a wedding, so I like to think weddings are especially sentimental to us (or me because obviously he's a tough guy).

  2. We got married 7.2.11 and at the country xkub we got married at there was a fireworks display that same night! With the 4th being my favorite holiday that was the icing on the cake! We have such fun pictures from that night with the fireworks. :)

  4. When one of Aaron's best friends got married, we had the DJ play the Hawaii 5-0 theme at the reception. Pretty standard, right? Not this time, because we had all bought them a kayak as their wedding gift (they were moving from Cincy to Seattle). So fun!

  6. Wow, you guys have definitely had your fair share of wedding fun! I can say though, weddings just don't get tiring or boring, so it's okay to have a lot of them to attend.

Also love all of the other guest stories. Too funny!

    Have fun this weekend! :)

  9. Keith and I have a similar snowed in story. On our 2nd date, I was dog sitting for my parents and he was going to come over and we have a movie night there because it was lightly snowing and my one dog freaks out about stuff like that. Well the forecasters "light snow" turned heavy and we didn't realize it until he was leaving. They live at the top of a ridge so he had to go down the slippery snow to leave and his car wasn't a fan of it and kinda locked up on the way down. So he pulled it over to the side and hiked back to my parents until the plows came bright and early. Quite a 2nd date!

  12. Your 2009 sounds like our 2010. Sean and I's wedding was the first of like 6 or 7 that summer including one on my birthday. It was INSANE! I was sick of weddings real quick!

  14. Love this and yea we are wedding dress twinkies (;
My favorite memory from our wedding (6/15/2013) was one that we will not forget. Our wedding party was loading up the trailer with all of our wedding stuff and decided to use our jeep (aka our get away car) to bring the trailer down to the reception hall. Well in the process something was not hooked up right and the trailer came unhooked from the hitch and slammed into the gas tank on the jeep, putting a hole in it! So we were escorted by one of my bridesmaids to our house and quickly talked into going to a party until 1 a.m. that ended up being just people our age from our wedding there so an unofficial Fry After Wedding Party!

  15. At Peter's sister's wedding, he was being shy about dancing with me haha. So Ryan (his brother in law) was like come on becky let's dance! I didn't really know him that well but after that Peter finally danced with me! It's funny now 3 years later, I'm living the happy couple!

I'm excited for what's to come when my best friend gets married sometime soon!

  16. Last year one of my best childhood friends got married. She had a small wedding- family and close friends. Her mom and wedding party planned a surprise Flashmob for them at the reception! They emailed the guests with a video of the dance for us all to learn. The bride & groom were SOOOOO surprised and it was hysterical! It was so much fun and now when I hear that song I still remember parts of the dance!

  17. I have a million good stories from weddings I have been to! That might just have to be a future post!
    Here are couple of them...
Favorite wedding memory? The music at my reception was ALL hand picked by me (and my dad). We walked into Thunderstruck by ACDC, our 1st(1st) dance (we had a few) was to I believe in you & me by Nsync & Joe, my dad and I danced to Nothing Else Matters by Metallica for the father/daughter dance, during dinner was all "car" themed songs, etc. Every song seriously was so me and had a special memory that went along with each of them! We even ended the night with Georgia on my mind since we were headed to Savannah for our honeymoon :)
Another memory was when I caught the bouquet at my step brother's wedding...so embarassing! I was only 19 at the time and single. They did the tradition where the guy who catches the garter puts it on the girl who caught the bouquet. It was so uncomfortable because the guy who was putting the garter on me was about 10 year older than me and my dad was sitting at the table right up front! Needless to say I couldn't wait for that moment to be over! Kind of funny part...they say the couple will be married as many years as the garter goes up the leg in inches. It didn't go too far on my leg....my step brother and his now ex-wife were only married about 5 or so years! Crazy!!!
I have other stories, but I will definitely save those for a future post :)

  23. My favorite wedding memory has to be the one that we just attended a few weeks ago and my boyfriend caught the garter! Well.. it hit him right in the chest, fell on the floor, and he looked at it, as did all the other guys. No one made a move so he picked it up. His face was pretty priceless! Luckily my friend caught the bouquet so he didn't have to dance with a stranger! lol

I loooove your wedding shoes! I'm a little obsessed with polka dots and hope to find a pair like that for my wedding someday!
