Just Breathe

Yesterday was so much fun reading everyone's thoughts and reactions to my post. It was one of those posts I just wrote straight from the heart and hit publish, which can be scary so I appreciate all your thoughts and comments on it!

Last night I also sat down and filled in our calendar for the next couple of months. I had been slacking and with all the bajillions of things coming up I knew I needed to get organized. So my colored pens and I sat down for a good while, penning away in my beloved Erin Condren planner. And yes, I do use it religiously. Before too long though, I felt completely overwhelmed. We are about to be SO BUSY and seeing it all written down in one place totally freaked me out.

After a minor panic-attack about not having ANY free time, I realized I was being ridiculous, of course. Most of these things I'm planning for are FUN! Celebrations! They are the reason our fridge is covered in announcements and invitations.

And those crazy long work hours? The extra events? Games? It's worth it when a sweet customer sends you the nicest thank you note (and a copy to your boss, as well!) and a little goody bag. A package all the way from his vacation home in Hawaii, complete with a Disney bag.... because he remembers how much of a nerd I am.

So sure, life may look hectic, but whose isn't?! We're all busy, we all overbook ourselves.... it's how a lot of us function and thrive. Honestly, if I didn't have as busy of a schedule, I'm not sure what I'd do with myself sometimes! So like I said yesterday, I'm taking a deep breath and choosing to live each day with joy and with determination. I know things have been a little serious around here the past couple days but hey, I'm just keeping it real :)

I WILL rock this day :)

  2. Sometimes being a planner is scary! Like you, I'm an organized person and I wouldn't dream of not mapping out my life by month, but it can be overwhelming to look at the full weeks ahead. While it seems extreme to begin with, it's cool to think that all of those upcoming plans will be the cause of some of your most cherished memories. :)

  3. Busy is fun - just make sure to enjoy any downtime you have :) My favorite is waking up a little early and slowly drinking my coffee in the morning while watching the dogs play. I like a little bit of me time even if it's get a few minutes.

  6. I know exactly how you feel! I was filling out my Erin Condren on Tuesday an realized that I don't have a free weekend until mid-October! Besides this coming weekend. Looks like I'll be soaking that up for sure! I guess we can say that we're blessed to be this busy and have so many people and activities going on in our lives!

  8. I tell myself that all the time. I took yesterday off work so I could go to the Cardinals game and I sat down to actually eat dinner with Keith and it dawned on me that this is how it should be. I'm tired of working nights and not seeing my husband, having a decent meal, etc. Work may not like it but I need to do it more. I would be doing it a lot if I had my career job but that's not the path I'm on at the moment. Makes me sad but knowing that I'm doing what I can to stay afloat is what's best. Oh...and I need to do the color coded thing too but keep putting it off as well

  13. Erin Condren planner, life saving I swear (I suck at staying organized). It is sort of stressful to see everything on paper but after a few times of freaking out, it can be relaxing to know what you have going on. So glad you have such a positive attitude!

  18. My fridge is going to look like that soon! I figured out that we have 6 weddings next year, and I'm standing up in 2 of them! And not gonna lie, there's a little hope that ours will still be thrown in there! ;) haha

I LOVE my planner! I've used one since high school.. If I don't, I forget too many important things (especially assignments)!
