Festival Food Wins

I read a blog post last week that said they basically hate all weekend recaps unless something TOTALLY EXCITING happened to you. I find that crazy, because I personally love logging into Blogger or BlogLovin' on a Monday morning and see what all my friends have been up to. You got engaged? You're pregnant? Awesome! Congrats! How exciting!!  You stayed in, watched Netflix and shopped online for a great deal? That's cool too! Glad you enjoyed yourself! My point is, weekend recaps are normal! We are all just regular people blogging about life so I welcome those Monday morning posts.

But enough about that :) Onto more important things. Like, if you're watching Hard Knocks this season you should have seen my debut this past week. What, you didn't??
That sign right there… designed and printed out for the coaches workroom BY ME! While my autograph didn't make the cut I'm hoping this upcoming week of crazy long hours earns me a slightly larger spot on the next episode!

This weekend Jared and I went on a fun, cheap date--- very Sallie & Perkins approved. There was a local festival just down the road from us that was free to park, free to attend!

We didn't even spend our entire $20 bill we brought yet we both had lunch, a treat and played a couple games. Jared won me Mr. McWaddles III and I finally got the snocone I've been craving all summer!

I must say, one of the craziest, coolest parts of the fair was having a random girl and her sister approach me and say, "Do you have a blog?!" A girl right in my hometown area was a faithful reader and recognized us! (Hi, Andrea!!) Hopefully she still reads after she realized I was just an awkward mess ;)
After one last treat- yes, Jared made the best choice of the day with that one- we ran some errands, did a smidge of necessary shopping (You guys- my work shoes no longer had soles attached to them. It was time) and made our way home for a night of movies and relaxing.

Sunday was church, lunch and Bengals training camp. Football has already taken over my Sunday's…. It's scary, but I'm ready for it! Bring on the crazy path to the Super Bowl :)

How was your weekend???

  11. Fair/festival food is my favorite! I realized a few weekends ago I can pretty much get it any time I want around here in the summer. I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing.

  12. I agree with you about Mondays being weekend recap days. I think I love reading blogs on Mondays the most out of any other day! Love your cute little date. How cool that you were noticed by someone!

  16. You got recognized?! That's so cool! Also, I have to say... I sort of agree with that post (although I have no idea what specific post you're talking about). I blame the editor and writer in me, but I just tend to prefer reading (and writing) posts about one or two specific things, and weekend recaps are so random they don't really do it for me. I feel like I have ADD when I'm reading them. Not that everyone has to agree with me (obviously they don't), but that's the beauty of blogging! You're free to do what you want. I'm glad you and others like them! And really, if you don't want to read a blog post, just don't click on it, right? Come on, people.

  17. That waffle ice cream sandwich looks amazing! Our local festival starts on Thursday and I can't wait to take X! I must admit, I gave up on my weekend update posts because most people didn't comment or seem interested :( But I am planning on bringing them back because they were the least work to write! I love reading your Monday posts! :)

  18. um, will you write a book about cheap and fun dates?! ha, needing that book right about now. i agree with you, i love coming in on monday and reading about everyone's weekends. even if they just sat on their booties because that is what i usually do too!

  19. "Hopefully she still reads after she realized I was just an awkward mess ;)"

bahahahaha. I venture to say that quote would represent most bloggers in that situation.

  20. I LOVE festivals and food. $20?? That is impressive. Now that you've been recognized in public, you are sure to get your small screen debut :)

  21. I love Festivals! We have a HUGE Oktoberfest, and I always budget for that! ;) Fried cheesecurds are a MUST!

My boyfriend wants to know, what exactly do you do with the Bengals? He thinks your job must be totally awesome!

  25. Your sign made it to the show? Awesome. I'm going to have to watch the first episode. The last 2 fantasy seasons AJ Green has done great for me so I have some Bengals love.

  26. Girl I love weekend recaps. It's so fun reading what everyone is up too! It gives me ideas as well. It looks like you guys had a ton of fun and cheap fun too. That's always my favorite. That waffle ice cream sandwich looks freaking delicious!!!

  27. I love weekend recaps, too! :) I also loves snocones, but they are def the best when they have marshmallow topping! haha.

  28. Awww that Festival looks like so much fun! Rob and I went to see The Heat the other day and there was a toy machine with a giraffe in it that I was DYING to have (when I was still pregnant too) but it wouldn't take our coins. After I pitched a fit he told me he'd buy me a stuffed animal but that wasn't the point!! We want our men to win us our toys!!! How neat that you were recognized!

  29. If someone doesn't want to read about my weekend, don't read it. Festivals are so fun! I love me a snocone - looks like you got cherry(?) which is my fave. And now I guess you're super famous - I mean, first some random knows you from your blog, next you'll be on Hard Knocks, and then you'll turn into a blogger who doesn't like weekend recaps. ;) Hahahaha!

  30. As the random who recognized you, understand that I felt like an embarrassed, blubbering idiot! I didn't know if I should say something or not, but my sister decided we had to say Hi! I hope it didn't seem crazy that we said something? Whenever I read your blog I always think, "we could be friends!" so it was crazy to actually meet you and find out we live so close.

  35. Love! So i'm jealous though- we went to a local festival this weekend too but spent WAY more than $20... Sallie and Perkins need to rub off on us... but we ate the spaghetti dinner (which all proceeds go to charity), it was one of my best friends birthday so we got armbands and rode a TON of carni rides... and well it was a grape festival so of course drank a few glasses of wine! Parking and Entry was free- as well as the concert :) haha... Good for yall though i'm proud/happy for you! Hopefully soon we will get our booty's to budgeting!!
