Low-Key & Necessary

Some weekends are just enjoyed more when you don't take a million pictures "for the blog" ya know?

Friday night I went up to my parents house for a much-needed night of catching up -and some party-planning- with my madre. From the time we met up at Chipotle, to the time I finally went to bed there at almost 1am, we talked nonstop. Pretty sure I was slightly hoarse the next day, no joke! Sometimes you just need a sleepover at your parents house, no matter how old ya' are.

Saturday I was a not happy camper when my alarm went off at 6:30am and I had to get ready for WORK. The only good thing about the extra hours at work right now is that it means football season is creeping closer and closer. I spent most of my morning and early afternoon at the stadium giving tours. Luckily, we had a gorgeous day for it!

Jared and I worked on some house projects once I got home and then FINALLY got to hang with Caleb & Kayla and catch up with them after not seeing each other for two weeks. Another night of constant conversation and stories, and ending with a highly competitive game of MadGab. Kayla and I had an early lead, but the guys ended up beating us…. but the next day we found out they CHEATED and stacked the deck with all the hard ones for us. Wow, guys… not cool!! ;)
This is so us!!
Sunday Jared and I continued on our no-spending on necessities month and did some incredibly frugal grocery shopping. We hit up both Target and Aldi's for their sales and amazed ourselves with how much we got, for how little!! We meal-planned for the week breakfast, lunches, dinners and even snacks! We also got in a mega Sunday afternoon nap, some Netflix and laundry.

Do we sound like old, boring people or what? Honestly this weekend was just what I needed. Yes, I had to work a half-day on a weekend, but time with family and my husband was just what I needed. Low-key weekends often seem way too rare so I'll soak 'em up when I get the chance!

What kind of weekend did you have?

  2. Kudos for your budget shopping - I tell myself that I really need to look over all the ads before going and honestly I forget. Now yes I coupon and I get deals that way but I really should sit down and take more time to look it all over...but time isn't what I got a lot of! Can't wait to see how you guys do :)

  3. How did I miss the no spending month buzz?? We need a month like that, seriously!! You weekend sounds great! I have learned some great ways to budget shop and I am so proud-- I brag to all my girlfriends and they think I'm insane. Most of them tell me I sound like an old lady-- who cares, eh?

  5. wait stadium tours... hmmmm... that sounds like fun, I have actually never been to an NFL game before (I'll be flying to San Fran in Sept for my first one for the boyfriends birthday) I'm going to have to see if the Patriots have that option maybe I can convince Brady that he needs to leave his supermodel girlfriend and marry me??? or I can keep dreaming

  7. Low key weekends are some of the best weekends, though I can't say mine was like that in the least bit.
