Highs & Lows

Somehow this weekend felt much longer than a normal weekend….. and not necessarily all for good reasons. I feel like I had a high/low weekend. Where one minute you're super happy about life and something exciting?! But then in the next minute you're totally ticked off or upset and hitting a low. I suppose all of life is like that, but when it's a rollercoaster high/low weekend it can be a bit much for anyone.

Thursday: After work, I actually got a decent run in and was feeling good. Only to have my car die on the way home… and then dropping it off at the local car place. They told me it could be Saturday before my car was ready.

Friday: Payday for both Jared and I (love when it works out that way)! Quickly follow up by a call about my car being ready…. and my jaw hitting the floor at the estimate. WHY oh WHY are cars so expensive?!

Saturday: Oh hey, realized my car still wasn't fixed… after already paying and driving it home the night before. Bring on the stress and frustration.

Hear that Harrison's Heroes 5k's raised over $8,000 to be donated to Dayton Children's Hospital. Thank YOU readers who helped out and contributed…. every little bit helps!!!

The evening of Saturday was definitely my HIGH for the whole weekend. Thanks to a friend for free tickets, Jared and I roadtripped over to Indy for Game 6 Pacers v. Heat…. most fun NBA experience of my life!! The pre-party was so much fun beforehand and we won all kinds of random little things…. drink holders, a stress ball… And got to sign a huge banner out front which was cool. The game was intense!! #BeatTheHeat chants and lots of Lebron-hating signs?! That's my kinda' night!

There's an actual person in there-- really!

"GOLD OUT" means free t-shirts for everyone!
Oh hey- there's Shaq... no biggy!

Sunday: Caught up on LIFE. We moved furniture in/out of the house, tackled mountains of laundry, scrubbed bathrooms, washed dishes….. I felt super accomplished afterwards, but also realize I "wasted" most of my day catching up. Why can't I just stay on some type of cleaning schedule? Anyone have tips for this???

Today's high for me is knowing our brother & sister-in-law come home from their honeymoon. I know that's probably a low for them, but we can't wait to see them!!! :)

June is officially MY MONTH. Jared and I are going crazy on our goals and plan to just destroy them this month. In a good way ;) A main one is setting up an even more strict budget than the one we've been on… we are SO tired of student loan debt, it just makes us sick! We are ready to knock it out and be on our way to financial freedom!

What were the highs and lows of your weekend?

  1. How exciting!!! I agree with all those LeBron haters ;) Seriously though, car problems suck. I'm going through the same thing and I'm just appalled at the estimates.

  2. Haha. I am always "that girl" that has car trouble. It is an ongoing joke that thats why I married Scott (he's an auto mechanic!) haha. It is very expensive... and a huge pain in the butt. Loved the pictures from the game! How cool!

  7. I love your self control and determination to get rid of those loans! You two are AWESOME!
I HATE paying for car maintenance... it's so painful to shell out that money! Please tell me you called the company immediately and told them it wasn't fixed, and that they are fixing it at no extra cost?!

  13. Oh man, an emotional roller coaster of a weekend indeed! Car repairs are SO stressful, aren't they?! I feel you on that! Glad you got stuff accomplished around the house yesterday... I know what you mean about feeling like you've wasted the day but it feels SO good to have it all done, doesn't it?!

  14. The game looked so fun!! I love Indy and was just there last weekend!

I can not seem to get on a cleaning schedule either and it drives me nuts, let me know if you figure out a good one.

  15. Oh I'm all for any Lebron hating signs/chants/anything- so good job on that one!

And I can so relate on being tired of student loans- the amount of money we pay in loans every month seriously makes me sick! We've really been trying to stick to a stricter budget also- though we don't always do so great at it.

  16. I'm done with car repairs. My honda is an 2001 and I love green honda to death but no more work is going to be put on it. Not to mention my bro in law is the mechanic and well it takes all my power not to yell at him when he tells me my car is fixed and he still hasn't fixed the belt that squeaks. But can't go anywhere else because then its letting the family down. So I will, until I get a new car, forever have a squeaky belt.

  17. Ugh car repairs are the WORST! I think it's a racked with car people and mechanics, so annoying.

That game looks awesome and so fun!

GOOD LUCK WITH JUNE, I know you'll rock it out!

  18. I love weekend road trips and that game was a good one to see. I watched just because I am still bitter than Lebron left the Cavs and was happy to see him fall! Heehee! Cute pics girlie :)

I'm sorry to hear about your car. That's never fun :(

  26. Good luck with your budgeting! I just realized I need to tighten ours too. We don't really have any debt, but one income alone can be bad enough.
Have you checked into some of Dave Ramsey's debt eliminating methods? My hairstylist swears by him. Like I said, I don't have debt, but I've considered reading into his stuff for when we do make a big purchase, (aka eventually buying a house and such)
Car trouble really puts a damper on everything, I hope it's fixed now.
At least you did get something fun squeezed into the weekend! And Shaq? So cool!
Good luck with cleaning also, I suck at staying on any kind of schedule with cleaning...becuase I hate to clean.
Oh & your honeymoon pictures on Kayla's blog--love! That baby lion kills me! I'd love to do that! I can't wait to see all of hers!

  27. I'm watching the game right now and love thinking you were there!!! Even if I was a tad jealous when I read it...it only lasted for a second because it sounds like you really needed it friend. Silly cars are not my friend. I have to have a dental procedure done and I was shocked at how expensive it is. silly money! Hope your day has been amazing and you have a great rest of your week! <3

  28. Glad you guys got to go to the game. Sounds like you guys had a great time and that it was definitely needed. And I hate how expensive cars are! Ugh! And good luck on your budget! I am sure you guys can do it! We are doing something very similar too!

  29. I had a blast seeing your instagram pics this weekend when you two were headed to the game.. and I know what you mean about highs and lows. We got some crappy news this weekend, errrr I did. I'm doing my best to be positive. I'm hoping that this month passes by quickly and ends positively :)
