Morocc' Me Baby...

See that sleep-deprived girl right there? That's just us being first in line to get into Epcot at Disneyworld. A lot of people don't realize that Disney typically opens the gates 15-20 minutes before their official open time. So for a 9AM opening? Jared and I were there around 8:15AM with a few other people straggling in behind us shortly after that. I'll say it again and again.. getting to the parks at open (or earlier!) is the only way to do it all and not feel rushed!

Our first (and favorite) ride of the day was called Soarin' .... oh my gosh! It's a simulated hang glider ride that takes you across the country. It's like an iMax movie type of experience... only better! Not only do you feel like your flying, they blow air at you for affect AND pump out scents of various places you "visit." SCENTS, people! We smelled fresh pine as we went through a forest and a yummy citrus smell as we flew over a Florida orange garden.

Other highlights early in the day were the Michael Jackson 3D movie/simulator. As a huge MJ fan, this was awesome for me!

Going up inside the giant Epcot "ball" and having them add our pictures to the in-ride movie clips. LOL- somehow I ended up with a horn?!

Nemo & Friends ride and aquarium:

The Flower & Garden show had just started at Disney when we got there, so there were some BEAUTIFUL creations all over the parks... especially Epcot!
Uhh, I am stoked for Monster University to come out next month!!!!

There was one ride I honestly didn't think I would go on, because I've heard how intense it is. Mission: SPACE. I have heard how many people get sick on it and I was determined to avoid it. Of course Jared was determined to ride it, and somehow convinced me to get on it as well.
Those are the seat you sit in... and don't let it fool you. That front part closes in so it's RIGHT in your face and your knees basically touch the panels. If you're claustrophobic at all, do NOT ride this... it's a small space. The ride simulates an actual space shuttle take-off, sling shots you around the moon and then you land on Mars. You feel G-Forces that are 2x the gravity on Earth... I thought my skin was being peeled off my face. Seriously. Anyway- it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, and I didn't feel sick at all- just a little disoriented for a few minutes. I'm proud I didn't chicken out ;)

Then the majority of the afternoon and evening was spent touring World Showcase. So not only did we visit Florida, we visited Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Morocco (where Jared was inspired by a song I'll attach at the end), France, the UK and Canada. Each little village is so unique and fun. We definitely tried food/drinks from every country possible!

This was the ceiling in the main China building. SO pretty!
Germany
Street performer in Italy
A quick storm coming through in Italy
Taking shelter!
Japan
Morocco. I loved these tiles!
Also Morocco
England
Best heel click I've ever seen! ;)
All along on the trip, we had said we didn't plan on doing any character meet and greet type of things. The lines were always long and we didn't want to stand in line with a bunch of brats kids. However, somehow we kept ending up in the right place at the right time and got to meet so many characters without waiting. Here we stumbled upon Rafiki from the Lion King and of course a favorite, Pluto! It was Pluto's idea for us all to flex, ha!

Here's the American Pavillion all lit up at night and looking pretty. We watched "Illuminations" right in front of it, which ended up being a great spot to see everything and not as crowded as some of the other areas.

What's Illuminations, you ask? Another fantastic show Disney puts on with music, lights, fireworks, lasers etc... all out on the water in the middle of Epcot. I may have immediately downloaded all the music from the show, it was so good!

One last final glimpse of "the ball" as we left the park that night.

And let's just say... I've been singing Wagon Wheel NONSTOP lately, and Morrocco apparently inspired Jared to make his own version of the song. Let's hope he doesn't kill me for posting this ;)

  5. I love the Flower & Garden show! We went to Disney in May one year and I was absolutely mesmerized at everything they can create with freaking shrubs :)

And the Soarin' citrus. It's like I've died and gone to Heaven! And I'm super jealous of Jared's perfect heel click - it's something I know I'll never master! Annnnd I almost threw up my last three meals after riding Mission: Space. Yikes, totally not for me, the claustrophobic girl with the weak stomach!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your Disney recaps and reading about how much fun y'all had. Love you, Er!

  11. When I was 9, I went to Epcot and was actually unimpressed. I went again when I was 23 and had a blast! I went on Space as well, but went on the "easier" mission so I didn't feel sick afterwards. :p

  12. After seeing all of this fun stuff, I'm so mad we only got to spend 2 hours there! We went right after we got to Disney so it was already dark and we spent half the time waiting in line for Soarin' so we didn't get to see anything. Definitely going to make another trip there so we can do it all again! That video of Jared is also the cutest thing, my husband would kill me if I posted him doing that.

  13. I LOVE Epcot! I feel like it's a park that so many people forget about how awesome it is! There is so much to do plus so many food and drinks to try in all of the countries!

  14. Haha!!! I love his version. Epcot was a fun place. We were there when the Food & Wine festival was going on so it was super crowded, but we got to do most of the things that we wanted to do. We loved Soarin'. That was definitely one of my favorite rides. And I loved walking around all the different countries. I think Italy and Germany were definitely my favorites.

  17. Epcot is my fave. We loved Soarin' too and I was terrified of Mission Space and I would only go on the "loser" version. LOL But the countries are what I really love there.

And if I never hear from you again, I'll know that Jared saw the video. (So funny!)

  23. Soarin' is AMAZING, isn't it?! We loved it!!

  25. This looks fun! I want to go to Disney! The last time I was there, I wanted to ride Soarin'. Unfortunately, the fast passes were all gone and I didn't want to wait in line for hours on our last day.

  26. That video was hysterical! Also what's really funny about "Rock me baby" is that one of my friends on our trip kept singing that at random points through out the trip. TOO funny!! Looks like you had a great time! Soarin' is awesome!!

  27. Aww love this! I'm just catching up on your trip--looks like you had an amazing time! I am dying to go to Disney some day, we'll definitely wait until our kiddos are a little bit older...but I'm sure I'll be more excited than they are ha!

  29. When I had first gone to Disney as a kid my mom thought we were too young for Epcot so I wasn't sure what to expect when Keith & I went - and now I love it! One of our big dinners was at the Coral Reef in the Nemo section, which did you ride Nemo and get stuck? We were there during the flower festival, just beautiful and I'd love to go back and do the Drink Around the World during their Food & Wine festival.

  30. lol @ his song...too funny! Depending on the day you ask me, my favorite parks go between Magic Kingdom and Epcot! I should have told you this before you left, but the Frozen Red Stag Lemonade is my favorite drink in Epcot! Also, did you go to the Cool Zone? You can try out drinks from all over the world! Also, gotta love Florida weather. Rain one minute, sunshine the next as if it never happened! Cute pics!! :)

  31. I'm not an EPCOT fan but I love love love walking around the countries... I could spend all my time doing that and ignoring the rest of the park and be completely happy! And Illuminations... such a great way to end the day!

  32. I definitely want to go to Epcot even if I don't get to see the rest of Disney.

And Jared's song made me chuckle. I love that song and his rendition. :)
