Disney {Day 3: Hollywood Studios}

Hollywood Studios was the next park on our list. That's the awesome thing about Disneyworld.... every day it's an entire NEW adventure when you're hitting up all the parks! As soon as I saw sorcerer Mickey and the famous brooms from Fantasia, I started skipping up to the entrance of the park. I felt like such a kid!!

If you haven't been to Disneyworld, there is something called a FASTPASS which basically lets you skip all those 'long lines' you hear about. Most of the really popular attractions offer this service. It's just a small booth outside of the ride, you put your park pass in the machine, and it spits out a ticket telling you when to return. It gives you an hour window, and as long as you return during that time- you get in the FASTPASS lane which will have muchhhhh less people in it than the regular 'stand-by' entrance. The FASTPASS allowed Jared and I to basically walk on any ride we wanted with 5-minute waits.

We knew the Toy Story Mania ride was the most popular ride in the park so our plan was to head there first to ride it and grab a FASTPASS for later in the day. It's such a popular ride that sometimes all FASTPASSes for the entire day are distributed by 1-2pm!

I mean seriously, could the LINE for this ride be any cooler?! Scrabble board on the ceiling, giant crayons, monkeys in a barrel....I was almost sad we didn't have to wait in it longer..... ok, but not really ;)

More 3D glasses for this ride.... are you seeing a pattern here??

After Jared whooped my butt at the Toy Story game... we headed off to the Aerosmith Rockin' Rollercoaster and the Hollywood Tower of Terror. Both rides get long lines later in the day so we knew we wanted to ride them early on while the park was still empty!

And sidenote.... I've been to Disneyworld before, but Tower of Terror was a LOT scarier than I remember. We almost bought the ride photo of it because my face was so hilarious, I really did look terrified!

Next up we did "Star Tours" ....basically a flight simulator, 3D Star Wars themed ride. We did it three times that day because there was NEVER a line for it and I don't know why!? It was a really cool ride... and get this. There are over 50 different variations of the ride, with tons of different story lines and videos. Each time we got on it, it was a new situation! I liked it, and Jared being the real Star Wars nerd LOVED it :)

A lot of the rides/shows don't allow flash photography, so excuse the quality on some of these. Just take my word for it that the Muppets 3D movie is super cute, the Great Movie ride takes you through all types of famous films in history and Ursula in the Little Mermaid show was one of the coolest things ever!
Snuck this without a flash on the Great Movie Ride
Scaryyy!!! But awesome!
After hitting up quite a few attractions in a short amount of time, it was time for us to return to the Toy Story ride again with our FASTPASS. I'm happy to report that I won this time!

The little green army men were everywhere! And so much fun to interact with!

One of my favorite parts of the day was *OBVIOUSLY* meeting Mickey :)

Our lunch that day was a lot of fun too! We ate at the Sci-Fi Drive-in Diner. Your table is an car! We also had the sweetest waitress ever who offered to take a picture for us and then snapped like 4 from all different angles. AND? Brought me a cute little cupcake for my birthday.

After lunch we saw the Beauty and the Beast show..... it blew me away! SO GOOD! The casting was great and everyone was so talented. Gaston was dead-on the animated character, lol!

Another cool thing we did- thanks to a tip from some friends- was try out hand at animation! An actual Disney artist does classes all day long and teaches you to guide a different character each time. For this graphic designer I was in heaven!!! Okay, and maybe my Pooh didn't quite look like a Pooh, but I still thought he was cute ;)

Mine and Jared's masterpieces!
The night ended with Pizza Planet a'la Toy Story style. Yum!

And what should have been the finale to our night, ended up getting stopped mid-show due to the weather. We were incredibly disappointed, however- if you keep reading this week you'll see that we had an opportunity to see it again later!
The few minutes of the show before it was cancelled
And yes, it did rain off and on QUITE a bit this day. Hence the wet ponytail, the rain jacket and the cancelled show. We still managed to fit everything in and have a blast all day long!

Whew! What a recap, right?! Originally I thought I'd be able to combine days into a post, but I'm seeing that's nearly impossible now. I hope you all still enjoy the Disney overload, because I'm having SO much fun looking through these pictures again and again.

  1. Tower of Terror wasn't as bad as I thought. I was freaking out as we got onto the car but once I realized what it was doing, I was ok. I had always imagined it was outside the box (based on what I had seen in the past) but when it was all inside, it was different. I love love love Aerosmith's coaster - and I love your Pooh!

  8. We seriously did almost all the same things. Did I tell you about the animation studio? I forget if I did or not, but that was something someone told us to do. We did Chip&Dale and Goofy and I still want to frame them somewhere. You two look like you had a blast. Disney is the BEST!!!!

  12. Hollywood Studios was one of my favorite parks! I loved Toy Story Mania and because we rode once as soon as the park opened on a morning they had EMH, walked right on, got fast passes, rode again about 20 minutes later, got fast passes and then rode again around 5pm. All the fast passes were gone by 12! and we went during one of the least crowded times of the year. The Little Mermaid is my favorite, so that little play was the highlight of my vacation! I wish it was longer!

  14. We loved the Beauty and the Beast show, it was my second favorite after the Lion King show at Animal Kingdom. Also, I'm sad we didn't meet Mickey, but I was too impatient to wait in any lines.

  15. This was one of my favorite parks. By the time we got over to the Toy Story ride, the fast passes were already for 4:00 pm that day. And we knew that we weren't going to be there that long because we had another thing that we wanted to go do in another park later that day, so we decided to wait in line on that one. It was kind of a long wait too. It sucked, but we loved the ride. And the Beauty & the Beast show was one of my favorites. I seriously felt like I was 5 again. I loved all the rides in this park. They definitely have the best rides. I want to go back to Disney World so bad now, haha!

  17. Oh, I love reliving my own trip through reading about yours! I'll never forget the first time we ever rode Tower of Terror (years ago) there was this family with two boys in line with us and the one boy was getting scared and said he wasn't going to ride it. His parents bullied him into riding it because he "wouldn't be able to face his friends at home" if he didn't. ??? Weird, but he did ride.

The Rock n Roller Coaster had been closed most of the day but finally opened up late so we rode it a few times at night with little to no line.

For drawing class we drew one of the dwarves (can't remember which one now). Mine was horrible. Your Winnie the Pooh looks good!

  21. You were so right to get the Toy Story mania fastpasses first! and yes, the queue is one of the best. DHS is probably my least favorite park, but I'm glad you were able to do a lot there and have a great time! The Little Mermaid show was it's redeeming factor for me, but now miss Ariel FINALLY has her own ride!

  27. Seriously in LOVE with all these Disney posts. Mark has never been to Disney, so this is making me think that we need to take a trip. Perhaps post-wedding in October a trip to Disney will have to be a priority. And PS, your pooh definitely looks like a Pooh!
