Moving Day.

No, I'm not moving-- don't you worry ;)

You know you've got some pretty awesome family/BFFs when somehow you manage to move boxes and furniture with them ALL DAY LONG and still not get sick of each other! Not only were we able to keep a good attitude allllmost all day ;) but we were able to have a little bit of fun in the meantime too. Let me give you a quick snapshot of what our Sunday looked like:
Do you trust these 2 with a U-Haul truck?! ;)
  • Go to in-law's house. Move large furniture and boxes into U-Haul.
  • Drive to Kayla's house. Load more furniture, boxes and wedding gifts into the truck.
  • Drive to Kayla and Caleb's new apartment. Unload, Unload, Unload!
  • Drive to in-law's storage unit. Load up boxes upon boxes into the truck.
  • Drive to Kayla and Caleb's new apartment. Unload what was Caleb's from storage.
  • Drive to in-law's house. Unload the remaining stuff in the truck.
  • Go up to in-law's attic. Unload and distribute various items to the sons.
  • Drive U-Haul to MY house to drop off a desk we're getting from the in-law's.
  • Return U-Haul and get dinner!

Did you follow all that?! Luckily all those places are within a few miles of each other... but it felt like we were going in circles at some points.
Yes we showed up matching. No we did not plan it.
I will be the first to admit I wasn't super pumped about this day to begin with. I thought I'd be useless and that most of the moving would be heavy-duty stuff I couldn't handle. Of course, Jared.... my better half, the person with the biggest heart in the world, hit me with some deep stuff in regards to it all. He reminded me that moving-- it sucks. It always sucks, everyone hates it... but its part of life! The more people that help out, the faster it will get done and the more fun can be had.  Why is he so great?!

So with that new attitude we started our day- and I'm proud to say I had a lot of fun doing it. I guess it's easy when you're with people you love ;)

Have you ever had any moving experiences.. good OR bad?! Next time someone asks you to help them move- try to make the best of it! If you're in good company ANYTHING can be fun!

  1. So true...the more, the merrier, and the less stress. Plus they usually bribe you with free food! ;)

  2. Gah I hatehatehate moving. I hate UHauls (because it smells like moving) and I hate awkward shaped boxes that you can't wrap your hands around! Haha but moving is 10x better with help so I'm sure your help was appreciated!

  3. We moved last May into our first place together. Soooo exciting... however, the husband got into an accident the weekend before and he was unable to do anything..but drink a beer ;) The number of people we had lined up to help us move, was moving in itself! We had a bit of a longer drive, 40 minutes, but we were one long line on the interstate! It ended up going really fast and only took a few hours, but it ended up being a great experience. I can only hope when we move into a house it will be just as "easy!"

  7. Since da Coco and I moved to Charlotte exactly two years ago, we've lived in three different places. So, we've had our fair share of moving days and I certainly agree, they always suck! BUT now that we've finally found our forever-for-now home (fingers crossed!), it made all of those crappy, long days worth it :) You have the most wonderful family and it's amazing how willing you are to help each other out!

  9. My boyfriend and I are moving in 2 weeks to my mom's house so we can save for a house our own. I am not looking forward to packing up the whole house we currently rent and squeezing into one room. Hopefully we get a lot of help because I certainly will be useless!

  10. I love you because;

you rode with me the whole day and bought me a cold dew.
you guys helped us out beyond belief.
    you are you.
you gave me those "looks" and let me know you were thinking what I'm thinking.
you take disgusting pictures with me.
    you are amazing.

This day, aside from all the lifting, was very fun. I LOVE YOU.

  14. I swear the next time I move (which better not be until I'm much, much older), I'm hiring it done. On our last move almost everyone bailed on us so there were just THREE of us moving everything. Total suckage.

  16. Oh moving, I've moved 8 times in 8 years and hopefully our last move will be coming soon. You're totally right, the more the better. We helped a friend move a few years ago and she rewarded us with pizza and beer once we reached the new place.

  22. You do need your friends to help out on a moving day, bribing with food definitely a way of getting everyone involved! Overall, it looks like you guys had a really good day and did everything you needed too. I wish I was still moving just me and my hubby, we now has three kids and all their stuff to move but I will probably put some in storage with www.abcselfstore.co.uk
till things are settled and I have found a great removal company to help. I don't think my siblings and family friend could get it all done this time!
