Love, Fun and Football: Big news! Big News!

Big news! Big News!

If you guys follow me on Instagram.... you've probably seen the big news.

The life-changing news.

The news that......... we got a Nutribullet!!!
And clearly lookin' REAL good after a long day ;)
I had been seeing those famous 'green drinks' all over Pinterest and when my girl Katie started showing her recipes and filling me in more on juicing, I knew I wanted to try it out for myself.

We've been adding flax seeds into all of ours too for extra Omega-3's and fiber!
Now if you've been following this blog for any time at all, you know I'm not a health-nut. Sure, Jared and I try to cook healthy meals and exercise semi-regularly.... but you also know we eat Mexican food five times a few days a week. So will I ever give up guacamole and chips? Of course not.... but we're finding that juicing is an easy, enjoyable way for us to treat our bodies a little better! We've only had it a few days but Jared and I have been trying all sorts of different combos and it's clear we are obsessed :)

My fave breakfast combo so far:
1 large handful of Baby Spinach
1 banana
1 cored apple
A handful of blueberries

My fave veggie-dominant combo so far:
1 large handful of Baby Spinach
1 stalk of celery
1/2 cucumber
1 cored apple
Juice from half a lemon

And another fave I just discovered last night?
So simple and does NOT sound like it would blend well at all, but I'm hooked.
1-2 handfuls of Baby Spinach
1 banana
1 large tomato

Seriously- how in the WORLD has it taken me this long to experiment with juicing?! It's such an easy and delicious way to get lots of healthy stuff in your body. Our Nutriblast came with a book that has TONS of combinations to try, plus suggestions/recipes for non-juiced meals too.

So you juicers out there- I need to hear YOUR favorite combinations! Anyone have a good juice recipe with avocados in it? There are a couple in our books that I'm excited to try... because if this girl is cutting back on her Mexican food? You better believe I need some avocados and cilantro mixed into my juices!

    1. Depends on what you use-any fruits/veggies with skin NO! you will not. The blender won't process it and you'll just be eating nasty skin in your juice. It won't have the same texture. PS I realize you didn't ask ME per say but I'm voicing anyways ;) hahahaha love you

  4. My favorite fruity one is strawberry and watermelon- so good! And adding an apple into anything almost always makes it taste a bit better :) Ginger is another good thing to put in a mainly vege juice- it gives it a little kick that makes it taste better in my opinion. Glad you're liking it!!

  5. Sometimes I gag when I look at what goes in them - how do they come out tasting so good?! I despise tomatoes and anything that tastes too banana-y. But throw some strawberries in there and I'm game. Maybe I need to overcome by picky-ness and try it out!

  7. I've wanted to try these drinks but I've never been brave enough. I hate pretty much all vegetables that aren't starchy so I'm not sure if I could do it. Does it TASTE like spinach?

    1. Hey Suzanna- I couldn't find an email to get back to you! It's def an investment, but I was happy it came with a 1-year warranty too in case anything goes wrong. We are loving it so far! :)

  9. I've always wanted a juicer, but I've heard you don't get much juice out of doing it. This looks like you actually get a substantial amount and looks like a ton of fun? Do you just take everything and put it in there and let it do it's magic? I might have to look into getting one of these puppies. Thanks for sharing!

  12. Super exciting!

However my sister-in-law is hooked on all these drinks and she's had me try them---OMG, my gag reflex just can't handle it lol. I always tell her to call me when she blends up an icream/peanut butter/chocolate recipe ;-)

  13. Oooo! So exciting! I dont have a juicer, but have wanted one for a while. We use our blender to make smoothies in the mornings with frozen fruit, keifer and orange juice :)

  14. I've been thinking about the whole juicing craze a lot lately too. I'm just not too sure yet, and I know I definitely want to do some more research on my own before making a big purchase like this. Maybe I'll make it a reward to myself when I reach a specific weight? Sounds like good incentive to me!

  16. I'm not sure about juicing...how does it make blended spinach not taste like blended spinach???
I bet the nutribullet would make a killer margarita though...

  25. I've been wanting to get on this juicer trend. Glad to know you like yours!! I just might have to try one out!

  26. FYI - what you're doing is NOT juicing. Very healthy for you - definitely. Juicing - no. You're blending. Juicing removes everything but the juice - aka all the fiber is gone - so as to allow your body to readily assimilate large quantities of nutrients directly into your bloodstream without having to awaken your digestive process (aka absorbing nutrients while simultaneously extending the detox cycle). :)
