I failed. Miserably.

Do you guys remember me telling you I was participating in Nanowrimo back at the beginning of November? I was determined to kick butt and finish my book, once and for all. I was supposed to write a total of 50,000 words to qualify as an entire book. Yeah..... about that.

I am truly embarrassed to admit how horribly I failed. Like, I didn't even come close. Not even halfway-there close. I started off strong and really got into my book, trying to hammer out a couple thousand words every few days. And then real life, a crazy one at that, set in. Now, I really don't want to make excuses, because I hate them- honestly I do. Just this once though, I would like to point out that in the entire month of November I only had 3 total days off. Three.

It stinks that Nanowrimo always takes place in November, the busiest time of year for me. So I'm going to keep on keepin' on. I'm going to keep Nano-ing, even though the challenge is now over with and completed. My book is not completed and that is what the bottom line is. I won't beat myself up that I didn't complete the challenge in the official time frame- I'm just going to keep working.

I've said all along that I would like to be submitting my book to publishers in 2013, so it's now or never. Finishing my book and submitting it is definitely on my goals list -post to come on that soon- but I'm not waiting until the start of the year to get on it. I'll keep trucking along and see what comes of my writing and my story. I hope one day I'm posting on this blog about an acceptance letter I just received from a publishing company :)

What can you start, or even finish this year?
What is something you claim you'll do in the new year, but really should just start right now

  1. Girl there are plenty of things I have hoped to do but just wasn't successful at the first time around. There will be a second chance and I'm sure you'll get that book finished soon enough:)

  5. The most important thing is that in the end, you, my dear lovely amazing friend, will be a published author!! Whether it's 2013 or 2023, one day your name is going to be in lights! {errr print? Ha}

    Good luck! I love that last quote, too :) If I knew I couldn't fail, I'd quit my job today and go back to "school" to become a dog trainer. Bet no one else will comment with that life goal!

  9. That's really neat. I had never heard of Nanowrimo before! But it's good to set those goals regardless of if you finish. Just feel accomplished with what you did get done :) xoxoAllison

  11. How fun is that?! Setting goals is better than not setting goals at all. I admire you for your goal setting! I'm sure that with the right amount of time and with the right creative juices flowing you will have one heck of a book! How exciting! Looking foward to reading how 2013 turns out for you ;)
